Wow, guess there is no point talking trucks to you any more. Look at all the post on problems with the navistar eng, now look at the cummins
THERE ISN'T ANY!
,
anyone else have the accurate figures for this?
Dodge50, get a grip. Dodge does not have any probelms with trucks, haha. GM has problems, everyone has problems, are you that blind to see that. Statements that say GM sells junk is just absurd. Ford has divisions also Lincoln and Mercury. GM has many more divisions than Ford (I personally think they have too many), so these "best selling" number are not always accurate for a company.
Robert1972, it's been my experience that the Ford diesel is stronger than the Cummings. I think the Cummings is a good motor, I just prefer the Ford, and just about anything over the GM diesel. Hopefully their new diesel will live up to their exptations. Cummings doesn't have any problems? - Ok, if you say so. Those sales figures are close though. If they were like the Dodge, which is way behind, you may have an argument, but it's not...
When I bought a 97 F-150 I had to call a tow truck so they could get the truck after the water pump completely destroyed itself, and then after one year they put a new transmission in it and after 2 yeas when I traded it in it had a loud clunk coming from the transmission again.
The point is go buy the truck that YOU want, enjoy it, and if it happens to break thats what the warranty is for.

Look at the ytd (year to date) sales ford is exactly 76,980 sales ahead of chevy according to that site. Just in april ford sold over 22,000 truck more than chevy.
besides, isn't it GM brake pads? The whole system, which is the real performer, is Dodge, correct? Or does GM provide everything from pedals to master cylinders to computer controls to hydraulic lines, to actuators, shoes, clips, and drums?
....so what's the problem here?.....make your competitor look bad!!
- Tim
Tim, It's true that dodge has the ability to bring out a truck with good looks. Its too bad that after all those years of looking at the chevy box that they came out with a new shape that is hardly different from the last twenty years. The chevy does have more leg room in the back seat of the extended cab but that is the only thing in the interior of the chevy that is better. I sit up front, not in the back seat. I find the dodge more comfortable for the driver. The dash has better style and ergonomically designed than the chevy. For some reason they don't want to get rid of the squarish layout that they have embraced since the seventies. But I'll give you rear seat legroom, brakes and fuel economy.
People try to beat up GM for having that similar look....and Dodge fans try to pick on us...but geez....Dodge seems to sell no where near as much?...hmmmm....They have a truck company (Dodge)that has sold real numbers only for a whopping 6 years...and it's still no where near GM sales.
Maybe Dodge should go with their 70's look?....no..wait a minute...that didn't sell either...
- Tim
Remember I am a Dodge fan, BUT the facts are the facts.
Also keep in mind I am not knocking the trucks, I do like them also and I think the old 350 eng was the best sm built I prefer the ford 460 as the best bb and the cummins the best diesel, put that cummins in the chev and I will be first in line to buy one.
R....
Styling is evloutionary instead of revolutionary, which I like, but I wish they would have went a bit farther with it. It is kind of boxy...
just kidding, Roc. now really, was it 6 pack? or 12?
My point was that it would be expected that GM would sell more trucks than Ford--yet it doesn't.
Sorry guys. Let the banter resume.....
Its not like GM is 2x as big as Ford. Isn't Ford the 2nd biggest automaker. about 90% of GM. guesstimating.
markcord, sorry about the spelling, I meant to say Crumings...LOL...only one m this time...
Remember GM is quite a conglomeration of car companies. INCLUDING the truck division. One company with different acquired divisions. Just like Ford buying up whoever they just did, (Volvo? don't remember or care)
point is, what the hell does the acquiring of car divisions have to do with trucks, that are self suficient? Nothing.
Quit drinking Roc!!
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed.
Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery
and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might
be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to
myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come
true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

A woman drove me to drink and I didn't even have the decency to thank her.

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence?

we go to heaven. Sooooo, let's all get drunk and go to heaven!

It's overall production percentage to a particular segment of products, ie:trucks. If sony outsells panasonic 4to1 in appliances but panasonic outsells sony in vcrs--don't you question it? Panasonic must be doing better than Sony in actual quality since Sony has a higher advantage in image and exposure.
In fact, Ford buying other car companies to close the gap only further illustrates the truck issue. Volvo and other acquisitions don't make trucks. Gm's divisons have been together since ww2--so what's your point?
DeWalt sells more tools than Milwaukee. However, Milwaukee sells more reciprocating saws than anyone (sawzall brand). Why? They were the first but are also still the best in that field. It may be narrow of a focus, like trucks, but it must pay.
I do drink alot but I must make sense out there somewhere.
