condition? how do i know if it's happening and

whether or not there is a pinging problem with my
5.3. right now the truck has 14,600 on it and is
getting at it's best 20.4 mpg hi. and 15.6 in
town. worst has been 18.6 mpg hi. and 14.0 in
town. is this pinging suppose to effect engine
performance or is it just gonna self-destruct as
most engines would when run in an overadvanced
condition? you seem to talk as if you know alot
about trucks and engines so....F150.... will you
drop the chip from your shoulder and tell me what
i need to know, or are you gonna behave like
Budlitedude4 and threaten to fly out here and
give me that woopin' as promised?

I own a '99 F150 4.6l 4x4. over the past year,
I've taken it to the dealer 3 times for an
extremely high idle problem.
Intermittantly, my truck will idle at 2500rpm, in
gear or not. This happens without any throttle
input, so I don't think it is just a sticky
throttle cable. It happens BY ITSELF. This is
making it very hard to slow for stops or curves,
as
the truck is pulling itself along with no throttle
input from me.
CAN ANYONE ENLIGHTEN ME??!!
My dealership isn't taking me as seriously as I
feel this problem warrants, and I'm almost afraid
to drive me or my family around when it is doing
