    I really hate to interrupt this arguing, 'cause it's very entertaining, but... I have a question: can you get the 6.0 on a 1500 'rado, or do you have to step up to the 2500? (I know this is probably a dumb question, but I haven't researched the silverado as much as I should have) Also, does chevy still make the "c/k" trucks? -how are they different from a silverado? thanks guys. -eagle

    this topic and most of the "clone" topics where you guys play testosterone games (it doesn't even reach up to the level of argument), would simply confirm the stereotypical image of a pickemup truck owner.     Nope you cant get a 6.0 in a half ton but GMC will have a upscale truck called the C series with the 6.0 and all wheel drive but itll be pricey

    could some of the people who post on these sites critize dodgeram7? Change the word dodge to chevy or ford and his posts varied very little from posts of the experts who monopolize the topics. Disagree with them and they gang up on you like a pack of dogs. Arguments with them cannot be won and worthwhile information is far and few between.

    Currently, you cannot get the 6.0 in a half ton.

    Next year you will be able to get the GMC C-series, which is half ton, with the 6.0, but it also comes with LOTs other stuff, and it is going to be expensive.

    Does anyone know exactly what the configuration is going to be for GM next year? are the 2500s that we see now, going to be 1500 HDs?

    If so, will they then have the 6.0? I think the 6.0 would be the top engine pick for the 1/2 ton crew cab shortbed truck.

    If I could get that engine in a 1/2 ton silverado I might just do that instead of getting an F150. not that the current 5.3 is bad, it's really good but.... a 6.0? damn! but I don't want a GM
    'cause I think they're kind of ugly. (compared to chevy) Sorta like ford and lincoln. Ford makes the Expedition which is great looking, then lincoln takes it and turns it into the navigator which IMHO is way ugly.

    The 1/2 ton is the only application the 6.0l would be remotely impressive. With the mods I have done to my 5.4l, I bet I could stay evenly matched to the 6.0l, even with my taller gears and taller tires. The 6.0l is not all too impressive, especially for a so called heavy duty application.

    Ford puts the 5.4 in the 1/2 ton because they feel it has appropriate power. GM does not put the 6.0 in the 1/2 ton because they feel that is excessive power. They have to draw the line somewhere and that's as good a place as any.

    What is your truck? YR model? I think you said 99. Is it ext or reg cab? Come on all you give us is your aftermarket stuff you have added. For all we know you could have added it to a ford fiesta.

    Sorry tim i am on a regular keyboard which on only use about 3 days a wk and i hate it. I am so used to my laptop i cant use a regualr sized keyboard anymore.

    You've been reading too many Truckin mags. A supechip, true duals, headers will not get you 320 hp and 310 torque. There is diminishing returns as you add on mods with less and less increases as more bolt ons are added. It's called hp per $. Only way you'd get the 320 is by adding a SC. If anything, the headers and true duals gave you a big loss in low end torque. Nitrous will get you there and so will nitro methane. The lightning with a SC is rated at only 360. So with your mods you are 40 hp short of a lightning. Don't think so...try again later...

    F150idiot probably thinks that the 20 hp headers and 40 hp chip and 80 hp sunglasses add up to 70 hp...WRONG.

    The effect is not cumulative...but what do I know, I'm just an engineer....

    How do you pat yourself on the back when you are accelerating so fast....

    Why are you comparing a modified 5.4 to a stock 6.0. If its so hot do the same mods to the 6.0 and lets see what happens. Probably got the 5.4 because its all the more you can afford.

    Chevy's concept 6.0 SS truck had more horsepower naturally aspirated than the Lightning's supercharged 5.4.

    You can launch some serious hp out the 6.0 if you want.

    I'm sure you can, but you can also get a ton of hp out of the 5.4. Ford has gotten 385 hp out of it, naturally aspirated, and they are already for sale, NOT just a concept. They're called the Cobra R. Yes, they are a specialty vehicle, but they don't have anything on them that you can't buy from FR, or anything that they couldn't put out in mass quantity. Pretty impressive considering the 5.4 is significantly smaller than the 6.0.

    They got a lot of hp out of the 327 with the "300 horse" heads, aka double hump heads. I think they only got right around 300 hp, hence the name, but you have to remember that was "gross" hp and it was running 11:1 compression and 100 octane gas.

    Bigsnag, I know, I was referring to F150s comment that GM should have kept the 350 because they, in his words, can't get any power out of the 6.0.

    Someone mentioned something about the underneath where the running boards go being unfinished well i seen a F250 yesterday no running boards and i must say it looks like it is very unfinished. Metal looks like it is just hanging there.
