I have moved the power seat around to find better support and it is possible to find a better position for your thigh. We had a 93 Plym Gr Voy that had great seats but IT was the worst car/van we have ever owned!
I'm seeing if one can add padding to the seat. It's either that or wait until the Honda Pilot comes out and get that. It bugs me that much.
I want to install some fog lights and am looking
for suggestions/hints from other owners that have
done the same. Is it possible?
code3....the only way you can get a HL with no options, or the options exactly as you want them, is to order one from Japan. I know, because I did it last year.
I need to get a new car jack. I'm looking to get a aftermarket jack. The toyota dealer wants a high price for the jack (over $100).
I bent the old jack that came with the Highlander. You might be wondering how I bent the jack. Well... I had a flat tire (front right) As I was jacking up the car I realized I did not loosen the lug nuts. The rim was 2" off the ground. As I was trying to loosen the lug nuts the car lurched forward and bent the jack.
Thanks.
No sure what you are trying to tell me.
I want leather, but not the light ivory.
I don't like how light the cloth is either - its way too like. They call it "Charcoal", but its more like light gray. To me charcoal is like a dark grey suit - close to black.
I would prefer a very dark interior - so that the dirt (I'm going to use my SUV for camping, fishing etc, and will travel on dirt, mud snow etc).
I am going to wait until 2003 - just in case they decide to offer Navigation and dark grey interior like the Kluger in Japan.
Thanks
Its at least something to think about.
Have a '01/V6/4WD, bought early last year.
One day I was stepping on the brake a little
hard and noticed a ABS-like feeling on my foot.
I was going around 30 and had to make a fast stop because the car in front made a sudden right turn.
I have no idea how a ABS feels when it is activating, since I never had a chance to
activate one before, but I realy don't think the situation was a case to activate the ABS system.
Could this be a brake problem or just an ABS activating?
I got the brake cap recall done, but I'm not sure whether the dealer did the brake line bleeding or not.
Thanks,
John.
I have felt the ABS kick in many times and this isn't quite the same. I have come to wonder if it isn't the automatic brake force distribution system "hunting".
Very Pleased even after waiting 3 months and 2 days.
Happy with form and function of factory bug guard and spoiler.
Snowing today so will experience the handling.
Looking for advise on:
Seat Covers (Have ivory cloth interior)
Generic Hitch (Have factory receiver, but no hitch/ball)
If you want to make it easy, go to a trailer store and they will set you up.
Thanks for all your comments.
Thanks for the feedback and tip. Come to think of it, I did just recently fill up with 87 octane - the first tank of gas that I put in myself (it only has 300 miles on it). Maybe the dealer put in 89 or higher initially which is why I'm noticing the hesitation now. Next fill up I'll try the high octance stuff.
I really dislike the brake assist. It comes on way too easily, and startled me the first time it mistakenly thought I was panic braking. They must calibrate it for the proverbial 97 lb weakling.

Howdy yall,

While we're on the topic, I recently purchased the following oil filters for comparison: Mobil 1 ($12), K&N ($9), and Purolator PureOne ($6). Outside, the Mobil 1 and K&N looked very similar with the K&N slightly bigger overall; the K&N and PureOne are closely identical in size. I must say, though, that the PureOne looks better constructed of the three. The gasket on the K&N was surprisingly loose so I reseated it and crimped the sides of the seat very carefully. The insides of these filters, of course, is subject to debate. Anyway, from the Oil Filter discussion board, you probably won't go wrong choosing either.
I purchased a Toyota brand oil filter for my first oil change and discovered that the replacement oil filter part number (08922-02011) does not match the number listed on the original filter (90915-20003). Despite some differences in appearance, a couple of Toyota dealerships have assured me that these are interchangeable. The 08922-02011 filter is the one they would install on my Highlander if I brought it in for an oil change.
I just performed the first oil and filter change on my HL. The replacement filter was a Toyota and the part number was the same as yours (08922-02011) The new filter was stamped made in USA while the original filter was stamped Denso - Made in Japan. I changed at 3200 miles and used Mobil 1 5w-30 for the first oil change.
ZM101 - scroll back to #5179, 5185, 5188, and 5193 to get info on Fog Lamps for your HL. Also, if you scroll back further, you will find other discussions on this topic. Good Luck!
I am thinking of getting this or the clear 3M plastic coat to protect the front bumper paint and hood. I seem to be catching way too many bugs/pebbles from the road and need something that protects it. I am also pondering the bug deflector to prevent the stones from chipping the windsheild. I would like to know where these can be bought if you know. And if anyone in Bay area has gotten the 3M coating done and can recommend a place would be very helpful.
Thanks,
What dealer did you order your HL from and what did you decide on getting?
$100 sounds like a great deal for the 3M protector and I would lean towards that if I could get it.
being honest with you.
I could change my mind by the time the HL arrives in July and put a bug shield or bra on if I choose. I know I had the DeflectoShield replaced on my minivan once and Deflecto' covered the expense as long as I returned the old one. It had cracked. So, that's an option.
I also know that my Camry bumper seems to chip easily and I use a bra on it for the 2 months of summer here in MN. (ha-ha).
However, my bumper on my old '95 minivan (DC) does not seem to have chipped much after 150K miles...strange...Does Toyota not apply proper levels of paint on all their vehicles?
