I'm not sure there is such a thing. There are AWD Passats, but not with the deisel. Might be wrong.
Anyway, your offer looks fair, a little low in fact, but you're taking a risk on a high mileage vehicle. If it did have problems, it might be awkward having to see your friend at church every week. But if he's cool with you having a mechanic look things over, and everyone agrees no warranty/buyer beware, then it could be a good move to buy from someone you know and trust.
Greg
I don't know if I'd lowball the offer any more than you already have. Like you said, don't want to insult the guy or take advantage of him. If it was a dealer, what the heck, jerk them around all day. But with a friend, play nice. Edmunds TMV is about $11K, right? If the vehicle looks good and the mechanic likes what he sees, pay a fair price. You'd want the same treatment if you were selling your car.
Best part about it is that you can have a Caddy dealer work on your Chevy and visa versa depending on which service department you like best.
Course it does cost more than most third party warrantee companies.
I have found the phone system works satisfactory. The voice recognition is good as long as the cabin is quiet (windows up, air conditioning vents not pointed directly at headliner mounted microphone). Also, it does have a name storage feature that is convenient. The main drawback for me is the inability to dial numbers while on a call, i.e. calling your bank, checking voice mail, or customer service. The system does have an option that allows you to speak single digits, however, you have to wait for OnStar to repeat the digit back to you and then confirm the digit. It works OK if you are only needing to dial a couple of digits, however, calling a bank or anything with more than three or four digits gets to be ridiculous considering you have to go through three steps to dial a single digit.
If you travel a lot and will be placing long calls to individuals, the system works great and I would recommend. However, if you will be placing many calls and having people return them you may have issues with the separate number. Also, when numbers ring to the OnStar, I rarely get a caller ID reading until three or four rings which basically makes the caller ID system useless.
I would still rather have this system than some aftermarket solution that requires a separately mounted display. In my opinion, those systems look cheap, don't match the interior, and never work as well as advertised.
I have a 2004 Denali and that is the case with mine.

Thanks!
-Disconnect MAF from filter housing
-Remove filter housing
-Remove nut holding bottle under the filter housing
-Disconnect the two hoses (return/supply)
-Remove nut located on bottom left
-Disconnect sensor switch on bottom
-Remove unit
Was there design efficiency? No way!! It is a pain in the rear to remove
My 2005 Denali ran great on regular...
First off, thanks to all of you who take the time to help other Yukon owners learn more about there rides. I am just about to take delivery of a 2006 Yukon Denali. My question is, how does the NAV system work. Will I have to buy NAV DVDs for everywhere I drive to? and will I always need to buy more current DVDs like when we used to have to always buy the latest Road Atlas? I'm assuming my Denali has an internal GPS system that is used with the DVD NAV system and the Onstar. I bet I sound like I shouldn't be getting such a vehicle if I am so "challenged". LOL Thanks
The GPS antenna for your Nav system is not in the OnStar/XM antenna on the roof, it sits under the dash approximently in the middle and connects to the back of the Nav Radio. Look on Ebay if you want to see the complete kits. It receives through the glass thats why you shouldn't tint the front windshield or if you replace it make sure its not made with a coating that will restrict the GPS signals.
Map discs cover North America, I haven't seen any other areas offered but check the above website for more info.
The new discs sometimes just add new streets, without any new functionality so it depends how picky you wish to get. Ebay is often the best place to get discs if you want to upgrade every new version.
At first if I ran the disk out and back in it would start working, I did this for about 4 months.
That no longer works now all I get is a popup that says the disc is either scratched or dirty, I purchased a new disc and still the same problem so I know that the disc is not the problem.
Any body else have this problem and if so what was the fix?
If you need to take it out its not very hard to do. Be careful how much they want to repair it if you go that far, you can buy new ones on Ebay for under $1000.
Check out the Chevy Avalanche Fan Club on the web, they have instructions for almost everything and the members are an invaluable source of information because the Avalanche has almost all the same components.
I probably will have to take the vehicle in to the dealer and see what they have to say.
Only happens just as the warranty expires.
Thanks for the info.
I hope this question is not redundant, but I brought home a '06 Denali with 36000 miles (exactly!) and so far have been thrilled with it. The V8 sounds awesome, the comfort, ride, nav, AC, towing, AWD, DVD and storage have been fantastic.
However, I had to get 2 rear tires and the truck aligned. After aligning, I drove away and heard a "clunk" from the front drivers side. It persisted until I turned around and took it back to the alignment shop and told them to check it out. They did, and couldn't find anything. When they took it down off the lift, it ran great!! No sounds, just smooth ride. Fast forward to yesterday, then the Mrs. took it to work, and at lunch, she heard the clunk. She did not hear it in the afternoon. Am I going crazy here? Luckily, I did buy the extended warranty. If this issue has been discussed in another post, let me know and I'll head that way.
i have no check engine light yet but, dam thing wants to stall at red lights or at least feels like it.

I would love to know how many others are having this problem - was there something wrong in the manufacturing? I can't believe that after not quite 3 years they've gone bad.
My lights went out a little over 2 years since I purchased my Denali; maybe GMC will do the right thing and replace it for free.

I'm at wits end and don't have a lot of money to take it to get an all day diagnosis as $75 an hour. I'm handy with my hands and have a really good multimeter, but all I can deduce is that I have a parasitic drain from something. I cannot isolate the source. I'm afraid it's a computer of some sort, but don't know how to find them or determine which one it may be.
Any help is appreciated.

Now if someone can help me with an electrical problem (listed above), I'll be all set.

I apologize in case this wasn't the answer that you wanted. :shades:
