    Personally I love the Chainti red. I have never considered red on a car before but if I was buying one tomorrow I would strongly consider it. The CR-V is no Ferrari so I wouldn't like that kind of a colour. I find the Chianti very classy. I doubt Honda feels the need to use lighting to make it look like something else or they would never have gone with it.
    I actually prefer that one with the black bumpers. If I was going for the EX with Leather I would have to choose between Silver or Black.

    I have my 2002 CR-V ex auto now for 1 month,Love the car but need help finding a place to put crash guards on the front and back, Since I live on a block that has alt.side parking my CR-V keeps getting hit.Hate does nasty scars on the bumbers.

    From any auto paint store you can order rolls of
    molding.I have a box here it is black rubber
    2" wide 34 ft long with 3m adhesive on the back.
    You cut it to the length you need.It is available in different styles, this happens to be European
    Style.I got it for a Subaru Outback I used to have and have about 15 ft left over.I tried to put it on my CRV but I think my car has teflon teatment because it will not stick.The European
    cars used to have black strips on the bumpers
    but gave it up for style.I think a painted bumper is dumb but looks good.Give me a 56 Buick Chrome bumper, now that's a bumper.

    I turn overdrive off as soon as I get going. I wait until I've reached about 40-45 mph. then click it on. When crusing around 30 - 40 mph with OD on, the engine seems to lug (my opinion)
    I personally think that Night hawk black is the classiest color. However, bear to keep looking clean and the black interior shows scuff marks real easy. Wish they offered gray or saddle interior colors with black.

    I have a 2001 CRV that I absolutely love but I have a noise that seems to be coming from the doors where the plastic meets. Upon acceleration or deceleration, it's as if the plastic seems to rub together. I was wondoring if someone had this as well and what they did to fix it. I hope someone can help as I find it very annoying! I have not talked about this to my dealer yet but would rather fix it myself.

    First of all I want to thank you everyone for providing a valuable information about Honda CRV!
    Largely because of this site I made my mind that after My lease on Nissan Altima expires(next month) I will buy CR-V.
    I just have one question. I live in Brooklyn, New York so I'm thinking to install a LoJack. Their web cite indicates that I can install one only at the dealership but there is no indication how much it cost.
    Does anybody install a Lojack on their CRVs? Was it done at the dealerships or somewhere else? How much is the fair price whould be?

    FWIW, Ted Laturnus, in his review of the new Civic SiR (Si in the US)for CanadianDriver.com mentioned the car's "impeccable build quality". That sounds encouraging for anyone worried about the CR-V's that will be coming from the same plant(Swindon)in England.

    Six states in seven days. Best mileage 27.2 (better than the EPA rating on a very young engine), worst 24.8. Had the A/C on quite a bit (it was hot there too!!), had a full load sometimes, going through hilly roads, etc. I never felt the CR-V was lacking power.

    Did a little pseudo off-roading, what they call back roads. Gravel is still gravel and even 4WD and ABS doesn't help that much. I'm no expert but I had fun. I do wish I had the bug guard installed. I don't think I will ever get them all washed off---the mirrors were the most effected---don't think they sell a guard that will protect them.

    Only saw two or three other '02s on the road including the only other white EX I have seen (the exact reason I got that color) in the middle of Arkansas of all places.

    Now it's time for its first oil change.

    I really wish you could remove the seats after you fold them up. They look like suitcases that should be able to be removed. If they did that it would create so much more space if one needs it and you could definitely fit 2 full size bikes in it then!!!

    Dglozman - I had LoJack installed on mine back in '99. The dealer contracted the work to a LoJack service company. It cost about $500 all together, but I've saved much more than that on my insurance.

    Artdecho - The Civic and Accord (both made in Swindon) were ranked as two of the top vehicles for reliability in their markets (UK). I think they were ranked #1 and #3.

    I saw a new CRV at a dealer today with the optional roof rack cross bars. It still has the same (lousy) 75 pound load capacity. :(

    High everyone. I been reading the site as well as three other CRV forums. All were very helpful in my deciding to get an '02 CRV. Got mine about 5 weeks ago, Mohave Mist EX auto. Two of the things that sold me was the 2.4L engine and the roominess for the size, especially the rear legroom (I'm 6 ft tall). I very pleased with how well the V handles and the pep for a 4 cyl. My other car is a 2000 Stratus with the 2.4L engine. I find the CRV fairly quiet riding, not too much noise at highway speeds. No seat rock, no right drift. In fact no problems at all. Gas mileage so far is 20-21 all local, 24mph mixed (and with the A/C on too). My wife likes the CRV too and wants some more drive time. Thought I had hand, but only just wrist. She drives the Stratus (but I think she prefers the V) By the way I fifth CRV site just started a few weeks ago. By the way, starting to see me 02's on the road.

    Hey, another Mojave Mist CRV! I've been liking mine for a week now.

    I gave up a 97 Malibu (V6) for the CRV, and it looks like I lost a little engine growl, but no power. I think the Malibu had a little more torque, but its quite zippy, even with 4 peoples on board.

    Plus I get a kick out of towering above Malibus on the road now :-)

    I was excited about the 02 CRV, but have the following concerns.

    Despite having bset numbers for headroom and legroom, I wondered how legroom is measured. The front seats don't seem to have fully useable legroom. Driver side, the footrest is not present like my civic and the wheel well seems to intrude into this space. On the passenger side, there is not room for my feet. There is a plastic part that covers the area underneath the glove compartment to the engine area that leaves no space for my toes. Further, the floormat is attached to a piece of styrofoam that further restricts foot space? What is this for? I can't stretch my legs out! Mm civic coupe (98 HX) has more front legroom.

    Other things I would like to see changed...
    More interior colors than black and brown. I really wish there was still something like my civic or the previous CRV, a nice gray. At least make the fabric more subdued, especially with the brown color.

    Preferred the old style rear folding seat to the tumbling seats.

    Center dash is awkward. Everything is recessed behind the other parts of the dask making it uncomfortable. I would like to see the controls brought forward rather than setback behind the grab handle, parking brake, and for the stereo, the preset tuning buttons are set back slightly behind the lower dask which forms a short "shelf". Not an issue for me, but I would like to see someone with long finger nails try to press one of these buttons. The way the buttons are recessed, you can only press them with the end of your finger, not your "fingerprint".

    While Honda has done some great things with the 02, I really wish they had left some things alone.

    Anyone know if there are any changes that would address any of these for 03?

    First you need quick release front wheel and seat.
    Lower the rear seat back.Don't fold the seat up!
    Remove front wheel and seat of the bike.Turn it
    upside down and put it in with the rear wheel
    first and handle bars resting on the floor near the rear door.The rear wheel will be resting on the folded down seat back.Two adult bikes easily
    fit.If you plan on going in dirt/mud then place a
    towel where the bike wheels touch the seat back.
    For stability tie the two bikes together with a
    bungie cord.Still have room for lots of other stuff.

    For the person who asked Cr-v stands for compact recreational vechicle.

    Just wondering on the back window...does the wiper fluid just suppposed to drip down like it does or is it supposed to spray.....just want to make sure there is nothing wrong with mine.

    Anybody have any tricks for getting scratches off the saddle interior dash of the
    cr-v...........armour all didn't work .my interior also seems to scuff pretty easily....it is not just the black that does..... but also saddle.....

    Geenee87 - Actually, no. That is incorrect information that has been spread by some folks who assumed that is what it meant. Probably sales people who didn't know the answer and made something up. People like yourself have been fed bad information.

    CR-V stands for Comfortable Runabout Vehicle as posted earlier. If you look through some of the CR-V literature put out by Honda, you will sometimes see that listed below the below the CR-V badge. =)

    I suspect that the false name started as a result of the RAV4's name. RAV4 stands for Recreation Activity Vehicle 4WD.

    Fasteddie - No, but it's a project that should be easy to accomplish. I took the floors up in my '99 model when I installed dynamat. There were plenty of places where things could be attached.

    If you pull up the carpet on your '02, you may find a threaded hole right under the rubber patch you called the "heelrest". It wouldn't be too hard to shape a block of wood (or whatever) and make your own footrest. Take a look and let us know.

    On our '97 the back washer fluid just sort of drops down so I suspect the '02 will be similar.

    BTW, how did you make out with the keyless remote function that you were asking about?

    chooki: I drive light to moderate on the gas pedal, doesn't seem to affect gas mileage much locally. I like to let the V flex its muscles a little. Still breaking it in so I'm not redlining it yet. Also was at the supermarket a couple of days ago, in the next aisle, a '02 Mohave Mist EX.

    Just came back from vacation in Panama. Got to see the '02 V there. They have the European version with the little antenna in the back + foglights...looks a little more upscale than what we get here. Talked to the dealer and they are really going fast...

    Saw lots of Nissan X-trails and even drove one...looks are better IMHO than the V's, but the quality is not there...it feels cheap. There are lots of Freelanders as well.

    Toyota and Honda sell a number of small cars we don't even know about here in the US.Impressive.

    Taking a que from crvic, I went to Honda worldwide and found out that the us version is not as "well equipped or as good looking as our foreign competitors in Costa Rica, what a bummer.

    Yes, me too. There's something about the little antenna.

    If that was an option, I'd probable get it. That little detail make the car look more expensive.

    The price for the CR-V EX in Panama is 22.5K, there's no haggling there though. The dealer even gives you 6 months of insurance 'free'.

    I think they're a dumb idea, especially on an SUV. If you intend to use a roof rack, something many SUV owners do, that type of antenna could easily be damaged, or render the roof rack useless (if you're carrying long items).

    My Forester has the antenna built in the rear quarter panel glass, which is perfect, and it gives excellent reception.

    My Miata has a power antennae - and it broke when a gate failed in a garage. My wife's car has one and it's actually broken twice. You have to manually remove or lower the standard type to go through a car wash.

    They seem to get in the way no matter where you put them - except in the glass.

    has one of those short stubby roof antennas, centered just above the rear hatch. If some kid wants to carry a surfboard on the roof, he's pretty much out of luck with that antennae in place.

    Well i guess I was wrong. I don't know who told me that but you are probably right...it probably was a dealer.

    Anyway waxed my Cr-v (cute roomy vechicle) today I just love my Cr-v.

    I got a speeding ticket the other day....I wanted to shoot myself The cr-v is so nice to drive u hardly notice speed. ...Coming home from work noless at 1245am. Cop had no sympathy for me. He said surley my speedometer must be working in my shiny new CR-v.....what a jerk. Anyone know how much 14 miles over speed limit will jack up my insurance. ugggg

    I had my bicycle in the back of my '02 CRV-EX. Now, the tailgate open indicator keeps coming on. It doesn't always stay on though. The back inside light also keeps coming on. Anyone know how to reset the sensor, because the tailgate is obviously closed.

    Hi to all. What is the real break in mileage on this car. The manual says 600 miles, but is it 1000 miles.And what are you not to do go over 50 mph it's kind of hard to do.

    Have you got any pics of your shiny new hot rod?

    Ssoto - 600 should be fine, but it can't hurt to go 1,000 just for good measure. Feel free to drive over 55 mph. Just don't take long trips with the cruise control on. Vary the engine speed regularly. I took a 400-500 mile trip the first weekend I had mine. I just took back roads every now and then.

    Actually, that was three years ago, today. I got him on April 23, 1999. The next day, I took him for a camping trip in VT. 60,000 smiles later and I'm still a happy camper.
