Hyundai Santa Fe Gray Cargo Screen 2007
cost is $268 + $30 shipping
How much is the dealer asking for one?
Im looking to add a pair of stainless steel side steps to my wife's Santa Fe. The dealership (Toronto, Canada) want 656.95$, plus 1 hour labour to install them. Pricey.
Ive looked online...ebay, and ive seen several SS-side steps for much less money, selling for about 200$, which im considering bidding on.
question: is there any reason i should consider going with the dealerships offer??? For example, does anyone know if the dealerships site steps have Santa Fe badging or any other branding on them. Or will going with the non-dealer site steps void warranty???
Does anyone have stainless steel side steps (dealership or otherwise) on their current Santa Fe's, old or new models? will they rust, chip???
Any insight is much appreciated.
Same with the upgraded fans, engine cooler & wiring harness for the touring package - they were all originally left off of earlier models - they must have realised that to pull the advertised max. weight of 1600lbs , or 3500 lbs with proper towing equipment, the original design wasn't gonna make it.
Good Luck
Please complain! I'd like to know what can be done!
Instead I went out and bought a Garmin Nuvi 250. It's a portable nav system about the size of a deck of cards, with maps preloaded for all of North America. It works beautifully, mounts and dismounts in seconds, and rides in my center console when not in use. Battery life is about 4 hours, but it also comes with a power cord that plugs into a cigarette lighter. Cost was about $300, so I saved more than a $1,000 compared to the Pioneer AVIC-D3.
It works great -- better than the $2,000 factory nav system in my wife's 2005 Honda Odyssey. And if I sell the car, it comes with me. If I travel out of town, it comes with me for use in the rental car. I love it.
It's this one: http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Nuvi-250-Personal-Assistant/dp/B000NW0Y9W/ref=pd_bb- s_sr_1/105-7798522-5407607?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1186431020&sr=8-1
If you deviate from what it thinks is the correct route, it is VERY FAST IN DOING ITS RECALC....I have had built mins as well asd Tom Tom portables THE TEXT TO SPEECH REALLY TOPS IT OFF!!....this one is the winner IMHO
It has a neat gimmick...at sundown, the lighting changes...pretty cool. When I leave the car, it leaves too in my shirt pocket!!!! :shades:
I agree that it is fast -- much faster than the Honda in-dash NAV that is in my wife's 2005 Odyssey. We've had my Nuvi in the Odyssey and used both systems at the same time just to see how they did. My Nuvi would recalculate a new route in half the time of her Honda system.
And map upgrades for the factory systems are EXPENSIVE! We've never upgraded the maps in my wife's Odyssey because Honda wants $179.95 annually for the upgrades. Roads don't change fast enough to justify that cost, so we're still using the 2005 maps that came with the Odyssey when we bought it.
i didnt know side steps are available in both Chrome and Stainless Steel. i just assumed they were all stainless steel. i guess i'lll have to do some more homework before deciding. i doubt i'll go with the OEM side steps because of the price. 700+ is way too much. thanks again. ciao for now.
Are they wires in the windshield to heat things up or does it just rely on the hot air, don't know.
One accessory site I visited had a dropdown box to choose whether you had a 5 or 7 passenger. Another site did not differentiate.
Does anyone know definitively?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to best protect my new baby from door dings? I work in Seattle and have to park in some pretty tight spots at times.
Does anyone know if running boards would help? My thought was that the running boards would stick out enough so that the other car door would bump the running board instead of the side of my car?
I talked to the sales manager and service manager at the dealership. They both told me that due to the fact that the Santa Fe was not that high off the ground compared to a truck for example, that they interfered with getting out of the car. The service manager called them "ankle busters" and said that either people bumped their ankle or got their pants caught on them.
Does anyone know if running boards would help door dings? Do they get in the way of getting in or out of the vehicle? And/or are there any other suggestions on how to prevent or minimize door dingss?
Thanks so very much for your thoughts or ideas on this!

I also considered getting back-up sensors installed instead of a back-up camera, but I'm not sure if they would work as well (I know both would notify me if there is a child behind the vehicle, but it would be nice to know if I'm about to run over a toy in the driveway).
Any thoughts or recommendations????
Thanks!!
