Cracks in the Racing Stripes
Are the racing stipes decals? I've seen older models with cracks (like crazing) in the painted stripes. Is this to be expected with time? I'm considering buying a 2014, wondering if they've adressed this problem or the same is to be expected.

yes decals. It's called something like a Stripe Kit. You can replace them. The tape shrinks over time and this happens to any vinyl product after 5-7 years, something like that. Even those expensive whole-body paint wraps they do only last a certain amount of time.
Naturally, if you are garaged and in a moderate climate, you may have better luck.

Thanks much, that's very helpful. Now I'm torn on whether or not to get them. Just a speculative aside, but I'm wondering why manufacturers can't just paint stripes on, are decals such a big cost savings?
