What, if anything, can you do when you're at the dealership...with the finance guy...terms have been settled...and you go to sign the lease and none of the numbers are what you discussed...except the monthly payment?

    How are the numbers different? Is it the same lease term and mileage that you asked for? And, the same amount due at signing?

    We had negotiated the deal with no money down but at signing, the contract read the same monthly payment but WITH money due at signing. The "finance guy" also tried to say that we hadn't included the first month's payment in the lease signing #'s...which we had.

    So, what did we do??? I spoke to the "financial guy" who was rude and eventually hung up on me. Within the hour he called me back...said he had spoken to the sales manager (who I had already emailed about this debacle) and said he had made a mistake. He apologized for his behavior as well. We have done 5 leases with this dealership with a 6th in the very near future and the sales manager knew this. She called and spoke to me and the dealership re-wrote the lease! Gave us back our check!! and accepted our check in the amount we had negotiated.

    Lesson: READ BEFORE SIGNING! And...Yes, You can walk away.
