Please HELP! Problems with Subaru Legacy misfire and won't start, high idle...

I never had any problems with my Subaru Legacy starting up on the first crank until a few days ago and now I have to crank it over at least 3 or 4 times before it will start. And sometimes I have to hold down the accelerator too or give it gas to keep it idling. Also, it has no power and does not accelerate or gain any speed when you give it gas even if you hold the pedal to the floor. It jumps and jerks around like crazy. It seems to idle higher then normal and the engine acts like it wants to shut down. I checked the radiator and overflow tank, everything is good and oil is good, and I don't know what else it could be but of course, I am a female not a mechanic. Please someone help me and any advice would be appreciated!

    Could be many things. First thing you might do is stagger on over to the local Autozone or OReilly's Auto Parts and see if they will scan the car's computer for you. If you can get a trouble code, write down that number and then come back here and we'll take it from there.
