    A Newbie buyer is kindly asking questions and looking for advices.

    My wife and I interest in 2015 VW Passat TSI SE - Sunroof & Navi model. I researched price from Truecar.com and it says $ 23,469. ( Not buying from TrueCars.com )

    * Base : 23,499.00 ( MSRP: 28,105 )
    * Regional Fee: 120.00 ( Do I really have to count this ? )
    * Destination: 820.00
    * Incentive: -1,000.00 ( incentive ends 9-7-15 )

    Here are my questions; ( by the way I live in Nothern VA )

    1. I read and understand that should not make a deal in the begining of month, but VW has $ 1,500.00 incentives available ( 1000 + 500 labor day bouns w/ finance ) + 0 % finance for 60 months. I am afraid that after labor day there might not be better incentives like these. Should I try to deal with dealers or wait until toward end of September ?

    2. My Target base price is $ 21,500.00, is this too low to even ask?

    Thank you all for your time and advices.

    @turbojet2010 The current program runs through Monday. This is still the end of the month, as far as VW dealers are concerned.

    ** Update on Passat shopping **

    So far, sent out total of 11 emails including thru dealers website ( 6 to Northern VA dealers + 5 MD dealers ).

    2 of VA dealers called back but did not leave a message and 1 VA dealers resoponded via email saying that this particluar type is sold out in DC area but he can bring it once deal is worked and he can not doing @ $ 21,000 ( with $ 1000.00 incentive ). I know I asked them on very low price, so I am going to ask see what is his counter offer.

    Any advice is always welcome for this newbie buyer.

    I would work all your dealers to see how close you could get to your 21k number on last 2days, last day of this month. Very end of the month will help you pricewise. ( But most likely Nowhere near that 21k mark ) There are new incentives being advertised on TV not sure if your buying area............................. has a 2k incentive on the Passat yet.

    Jetta is now being advertised for a 2k incentive 15 or 16 model. Might be worth a look

    @turbojet2010 ,

    Use my price guide that I PM you to make your best deal. Your best bet might be buying the 2015 Accord for $2500 to 3k below dealers Invoice.

    Invoice on the Passat I commented on is $27,772. If you could strike a deal at 23k on this model you have done very well.

    21.5 k will be near impossible for a dealer to sell at this price unless more trunk money is offered to dealerships.

    Email/ call 10 to 15 dealers asking for there best price . Then take your best offers and build on them only buying starting last 2 days this month. You should be able to buy this vehicle below the invoice price.

    How much can one expect to go below the invoice? Is $1500 below invoice of $26400 do able? I got a quote for 700 below invoice but VW invoice is not that low from MSRP.

    tuxmask,

    1500 below may be possible at months end but that will depend on dealers stock and any incentives needed. To get close to that price (1500 below) Get as many dealerships involved as far as your willing to travel to.

    Email / call each dealers Int/ Mgr on Dec, 29th.

    let each one know 1500 below earns your business that day then go down your list and play hardball with all your targeted dealerships making your best deal if need be on Dec 31th.

    I'm pricing a lease. The lowest price so far is $24200 (initial cap cost, or sell price). This also include $750 lease cash).

    VW has a 0% APR for 60 months, is there a finance fee for this deal?

    BTW, VW has a partner program for $500 certificate vwpartnerprogram.com/vw/partner/program/partner/program
