I have changed the gas and air filter and the oxygen sensor and engine light still comes on.

When I changed the oxygen sensor, I noticed a crack in the manifold cover. Can this be the real cause of my problem? If now ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE HELP!!

yes it definitely could IF you could prove that that crack allowed for a vacuum leak. You could test this by a squirt of carb cleaner or propane. If engine idle increases, then you have a leak.

Replacement of the 02 sensor is a very common misdiagnosis of the 171 and 174 codes.

You might also have an issue with the MAF sensor, which can sometimes be successfully cleaned. Visit YouTube for a "How-To". Be sure to use the proper solvent ! !
