Hi,

I'm in the market to buy 2017 MDX base model/FWD. Can somebody please share the best price to start the negotiation? Anybody know if Acura will start some holiday cash incentive for year end?

Thanks,
MV

MSRP is $44,890 and the True Market Value average price paid is $42,463. That's about $450 below the invoice of $42,005. All my numbers include the destination ($940). Some areas add in an ad fee and that should come off the invoice number.

12% off MSRP would be $39,500, so I'd aim for that as the best possible selling price. Chances are you won't find anyone dealing a MDX for $2,000 below invoice though. In any event we don't recommend that you start at $39,500 - get some quotes and then react to the two or three best dealers.

We only show a financing incentive and nothing else through January 3, 2017. It's possible that Acura will have some holiday sales around Christmas or New Years, and often dealers get more aggressive at the end of the year to earn extra bonus money.

    Good luck!

    Hi Stever,

Thanks for taking the time and responding back to my question.
I will keep an eye out for an extra bonus from dealers or Acura
    around year end.

    Regards,

I have been offered 40K + TT by a dealer for a 2017 MDX FWD. I was told by a sales person that I need to visit the dealership to start the process and it will take 24 to 72 hrs to locate the vehicle. What does this mean?

It means they don't have the vehicle in stock.

Yeah, they may want a deal in hand and maybe a deposit before they find the car, usually by doing a dealer trade with a dealer who has one in stock like you are seeking.

The price sounds good. If they want a deposit, that's okay so long as it's refundable (lots of people put deposits on credit cards so they can at least try to backcharge it if the deal sours).

The other thing to watch for is a transportation charge. Usually a dealer swap is free to the buyer, but if they try to ship one in from somewhere a good distance away, they may try to stick a transport fee on the deal. $800 would be typical, and that would kind of kill the deal.

Chances are that getting the MDX to your dealer will mean putting some miles on the car. Some people hate that - anything under 300 miles or so doesn't much bug me. Something to think about though. If want as few miles as possible on your new car, you can ask them to flatbed it to you. But then they'll probably want some transport money.

    Hi,

Just want to let you know that I pulled the trigger over the year end sale for 40k + TT (without any doc fees or transportation fees non sense). Thanks for providing your valuable suggestions. Very happy about the transaction!
