I would like to put no money down on a lease of a Passat or a Volvo S40 or Audi A4, do dealers do this for you?

Also for those three cars, which do you feel has the best leasing options as of now.

    Thanks
  • gold233790gold233790 Member Posts: 183
Of course. And if you get a dealer prodding you to put money down ask him why. There's simply NO reason to put money down on a lease, and a slew of reasons not to. For instance, you total the car, it is stolen, etc, Insurance pays off the lease, you lose your down payment.

Only thing money down does is lower your monthly payment by the EXACT amount of your down payment. At the end of the lease, you will have paid exactly the same. So stick that $ under your mattress and draw on it to pay the perceived higher monthly payment.

Regarding those cars? Like them all, but right now the A4 1.8 seems to be a great lease deal.

    Hi,
Can you tell me if Lexus Financial Leasing has any special for 2004 GX 470 Leasing for NOV or DEC? What is the MF and Residual Value for a lease term of 36 months or 42 months?

    Thanks,

I'm planning to lease 2005 e320. Could you tell me all information I need to know (residual, money factor, dealer incentives, etc) in order to be able to negotiate a fair price.
Btw what would you consider a fair price.

I was quoted 379 a month (taxes inc.) for a 2005 Special Edition A4, six speed. Only have to pay about 900 in fees upfront. Good deal?

I am about to begin negotiations for 2005 BMW 545 w/Sport and SMG. I need the current money factor and residual data from BMW Financial Services for 36 month/15,000 mile lease. Also - does BMWFS have different tiers for levels of credit worthiness?

Thanks for your help/ I found an honest salesman, who walked me throught the process and showed me his bank sheets for residual and money factor. The numbers added up exactly as you told me. I ended up leasing an x3 2.5 for invoive and the buy rate on a 2 year lease. As soon as I left the dealer I went to vw to check out this amazing deal on the phaeton. I was able to leas a $70585 car for a cap cost including acc fee of $58900. A 53% residual 36 months 15K per year. The money factor is .0003 and my payment is $688 tax iinclusive and $2800 Drive off - $ 1000 vw owner loyalty so only $1800 down

Thanks For all of your help

    Car_Man,
I need the lease numbers (money factor, residual) for a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Touring 2WD for November for the following. I am very close to getting one, but I want to compare the lease payment vs. purchasing. Also, I know that $3000 is being offered by Chrysler ($2000 cash, $1000 if using Chrysler financing), but are they offering any special 'lease cash' on top of these rebates? Thanks.

    1) 3 year, 15,000 miles per year
    2) 4 year, 15,000 miles per year
    3) 5 year, 15,000 miles per year.

    Hi Car_Man,

My MB 2005 SLK 55 has finally arrived at the dealership and their finance guy is pushing me away from using an MBC Lease. I traditionally use MBC Leases due to their First Class Finish for Lease Returns, which ignores damage that can be covered by size of a credit card.

I don't believe I am receiving accurate pricing as per the current MBC Lease Program Rates.

I received the information below in September from an Internet resource on the MB Lease Program for the 2005 SLK 350. Please advise if the Residuals and Money Factors below are valid for November and if they also apply to the SLK 55.

    MBC 2005 SLK 350 Lease Programs – Effective 9/23/2004
    24 mo/15k mi - 67% residual – Interest Rate .00345 Base Rate
    36 mo/15k mi - 63% residual – Interest Rate .00285 Base Rate
    48 mo/15k mi - 56% residual – Interest Rate .00285 Base Rate
    60 mo/15k mi - 51% residual – Interest Rate .00285 Base Rate
    Add 2% to residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr

If the above rates are no longer valid and/or don't apply to the SLK 55, I would greatly appreciate your forwarding the current MBC 36, 39 and 48 Month Rates and Residuals for the SLK 55.

Thanking you in advance for your most valuable assistance.

I just leased an x3 and the dealer gave me the rate and residual sheet. For a 2005 545i

    3year 15k per year 58% residual
    Money factor .00150
    Acc Fee 525
And securtiy deposit is 1 month's payment rounded to the next $50 increment.

If your credit is less than perfect you can put multiple security deposits down or even pay all monthly payments up front. To do that you will not recieve a rate discount it will be writtn on a standard monthly payment lease but the dealer will be funded short of all monthly payments and you take the monthly payment multiply bu 35 and then write a check for that and the drive-off.

Good luck If you live in the sf bay are let me know I know an honest sales man.

    Hi Car Man,

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

I just saw commercials for the Lexus "December to Remember" promotion so I guess it's time for my mom to finally get her car. She is interested in leasing a 2005 ES 330 w/o nav in the NYC area for 36 mo's and 15k mi/yr.

It would greatly be appreciated if you could provide us w/ the MF and residual information. Do you also know the current LFS bank fee in NY?

Once again, we appreciate your help.

I'm going to bug you again, Car_man! Lexus just started promoting their "December to Remember" sales event. My local sales rep said that there were special lease rates on the RX 330, and that LFS now has a "Tier-1+" credit category for those with a credit score above 750. Have you seen the money factors for this promotion yet, or heard about this new credit category? I am again interested in the specifics for a 2005 RX 330 non-nav AWD, 12k and 15k miles per year, 36 months, in Washington State. Thanks again!

    Hi Carman,

Looking at the 2005 S4 42 month lease.

In the ad, the sedan is $499/mo, $1995 cap cost reduction, 54% resid, 10k/year, MSRP $50,020, sales price $49,020

Salesman is offering me 12k/year, 53% resid, MF @ .00099 on slightly more expensive car

When I use that moneyfactor in a lease calculator, I can't get the $499/payment in the ad. What is the right money factor in this promotion?
  • denverg35denverg35 Member Posts: 54
oh, carman, forgot to tell you that the dealer is the one who told me that the sales price in the ad was $1,000 less than MSRP---that may not be accurate

Also, does Audi have dealer holdbacks?

    thanks

Anyone know what the base money factor and residuals are for a '05 TSX non/navi? I know they are pretty new, but I thought I'd ask. I'm looking at a 36 month 15,000 mile lease. What would be a reasonable monthly payment w/o money down. Also, earlier someone said the Audi A4 was a good lease deal, why is that?

    Hello,

I am wondering if any can tell me what the residual value of a 2004 Nissan Xterra XE-V6, auto, world series package.

The MSRP is 25100 and I am planning on leasing for 39 months @ 15000 miles per year.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Car Man:

I am extremely naive when it comes to leasing, looking for some help.

I have a couple of questions if you dont mind.

    1. Is there a "standard" on the money factor and residual value that I can use when considering a lease for the 2005 X5 3.0 15k/year. I have spoken to quite a few different salesman and they have all given me different figures.

    2. I am trying to negotiate the price of this car however some salesman claim that this is no concern when leasing, I have read differently. I understand it that BMW are very much in demand and extremely difficult to get the price down. What would be a fair or good price off of an MSRP. Looking at the 3.0 with Premium Pkg, Auto transmission, Xenon Lights, Nav system, park assist and retractable Load Floor.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi denverg35

Do you have a G35 now (coupe)? If yes, what year and have you compared it to the Audi S4?

I looked into the Audi S4 lease special program and was quoted a money factor of .00055 with security deposit and .00070 without security deposit (I'd go with the security deposit). The residual was 51% for 15k miles/year. Have you negotiated the selling price of the car?

Try searching on Audi S4 and you should find other posts on this subject.

    Hope this helps,

    Lee

First time I am considering leasing and wondering if this is a good deal:

Linear base model plus automatic. Cap cost 25,500, aqc fee 670, 36 months, residual of 13,894, MF of .00036, 12,000 miles per year = $391/mo. Up front charge of DC fees, $400 sec deposit, plus one month pmt.

Thanks for any suggestions you can give.
  • creshandocreshando Member Posts: 7
On the Acura TSX...My dealer just quoted me 58% with a MF (which seems high) of .0026.

I think the Audi lease deal looks so good because it has such a low money factor, plus there is room to negotiate the cap cost down because the new model is coming in the Spring.

    Hello Car_man:

I've just been referred to this great site. I have done a search and still have a question please.

The car I would like to lease is 2005 BMW 545i, annual mileage 10,000, duration of lease is 36 or 48 months (have not made up my mind yet).

I've seen your quote for 36 and 42 months (Still hold true? 36 months /10,000 miles is .00150/61%, 42 months is .00150/57%??)

Would you please quote me the money factor and residual for 48 months, 10,000 miles per, 2005 545i? And confirm the quotes for 36/42 months?

    Thanks and regards,
    Can

I am very interested in leasing an 05 Pathfinder through NMAC. I know they are advertising a lease special, was wondering if you could help me calculate a ballpark payment. The 05 I have found I expect I can pick up for $28,000, and I have roughly $4,000 negative equity in my trade and am not planning to put any cash down. If I was to lease on the 39 mo term @ 15k miles, what kind of lease payment would I be looking at? I have a mid-700 fico, so I would expect I could qualify for a good money factor.

    Thanks in advance!

    Fishhead,
I'm not sure where you're located but we live in Northern NJ and just leased an Allroad from DCH Essex Audi in Maplewood. I cannot speak highly enough of the sales manager Andrew Wollcock. I don't know if you live in NY and purchase in NJ how they figure the tax but if it is computed by where you "buy", in NJ you're only taxed on the depreciation portion of your lease and our tax is 6%. It may be worth it for you to cross a bridge or tunnel to lease your vehicle. You may even be able to negotiate an even more competetive price on the car.
I'm interested to see what car_man has to say about the numbers for your lease... I didn't think the money factor for a 42 month lease for Nov. was .00085. Also, you don't list how many miles: 10K, 12K, 15K. Carman might need that info to determine your depreciation.

    Car_Man,

I'm winding down on my Acura RL lease from 2002 and plan to move on to another vehicle. I loved my RL, but not enough to eat the quantum leap in 2005 prices. I would like the money factor and residual value for the TL without Navi, based upon 36 or 48 months at 12K miles per year. Do you expect the current program to change in December? Many thanks!

I read somewhere that you mentioned that MArch was the best time to lease. one of the pushy
dealers I as working with, told me now is the best time and if I want any longer (even into DEC!) the residual % will go down and that fall
is the best time when the new models are out.

    can you enlighten me..
    thanks!

p.s. on the pacifica , you gave me the base numbers, but what are the numbers for the FWD Touring.

    Car_Man,

Thanks for responding to my post regarding the leasing of a 4Motion Passat Wagon. It seems that Audi is offering much more support to their lineup than is VW. Specifically, I am being offered the following terms on a 2005 A4 1.8T Quattro Wagon (automatic): 39 months, 15,000 miles per year with a residual value of 54% and a money factor of .00123. The money factor is significantly higher than any of those you list for the S4 or sedans (.00049 - .00055). Is the dealer playing with me or is this just not the top tier rate?

I don't know if it makes a difference, but my only up front payment is the first month's payment -- no security deposit.

Hi wing5nut. You're right, while it is a vastly improved car, the 2005 Acura RL is very expensive to lease right now. I suspect that Acura will have to introduce at least a little lease support on it at some point. Here is the information that you are looking for on the TL. If you were to lease a 2005 Acura TL without Navigation through American Honda Finance Corp. right now for based upon 3 years with 12,000 miles per, its base lease money factor and residual value should be .00245 and 61%, respectively. The numbers for an otherwise identical 4 year lease should be .00220 and 53%. It is difficult to predict what manufacturers will do with their future incentives programs with 100% accuracy, but if I had to make an educated guess I would say that Acura probably will not introduce any sort of lease support on the '05 TL in the month of December. I suspect that its December lease program for this car will be the same as it is right now.

Hello Sandy. I don't recall ever stating that March is the best month to lease vehicles, but perhaps you were talking about Edmunds.com in general. The best time to lease an unsupported vehicle is at the beginning of the model year because that is when its residual values are the highest. On vehicles that typically have lease support available on them, the best time to lease varies depending upon the level of support the manufacturer is providing on it at any given time. Chrysler Financial's current lease money factors and residual values for the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica are scheduled to run through January 3rd, so whoever told you that this model's lease program will expire soon was trying to create a false sense of urgency. Chrysler is providing a $1,000 bonus on '05 Pacificas that are financed or leased through Chrysler Financial prior to November 30th, but even though this program is scheduled to expire at the end of the month I suspect that it will be renewed for the month of December. I have been away for a few days, so it would be a big help if you refresh my memory and tell me how long you want to lease this model for and how many miles per year you need to be able to drive it.

Thanks for taking the time to repost your earlier message, cgcole. Let's compare Audi's actual lease program on the model that you are interested in to what the dealer that you are working with quoted you. If you were to lease a 2005 A4 1.8T Avant through Audi Financial Services right now for 39 months with 15,000 miles per year, its base lease money factor and residual value should be .00059 and 54%, respectively. As you can see, this money factor is much lower than the .00123 that you were quoted. It definitely looks to me as though the dealer that you are working with is trying to mark-up AFS' base lease program to add additional back-end profit to your deal. If I was in your situation, I would comparison shop with a few other Audi dealers, since the person who you worked with at this one has been less than straightforward with you. I suspect that dealers will be more than willing to give you a good deal on this car, with the arrival of the redesigned version fast approaching. Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

I am looking at the regular base pacifica and
now the touring for 24 months and I can do
either 10K or 12K miles per year. the dealer
was also telling me about his "holiday cash" last Wed as well. he was real pushy. It might make
sense at this point to wait until the Dec numbers are out, since I highly doubt I can do anything
in the next 2 days, but the touring numbers would
    be great for now.

I am down to 3 cars.
the pacifica ( I feel on the base I can get below 250 S and D, but lacking some features)
the camry (the SE toyota deal is 269 SandD, I can get it down to around 250)
the altima S with convience pkg. I want 249 SandD.

I have eliminated the passat, as the numbers cannot get low enough. no honda accord for me, and the mazda 6 is just ok. the pacifica was a fluke due to hearing about great rebates/cash on them.

the only thing with the camry again is that since I currently have one, they may also waive disposition fee.

    thanks again!

    Hi car_man,

I called my local dealership about a lease on a 2004 Grand Cherokee Laredo Special Edition, as I noticed they have alot of excess inventory, and I thought I might be able to squeeze a good deal out of them. I've currently got a 2004 Audi A4 with 10 months remaining on its lease @ $500/month. I asked the dealer what they could do in terms of offsetting the remaining lease payments with some of the rebates & incentives they had available, and here's what he came back with for 36 months & 12000 miles/year:

    MSRP: 35670
Purchase Price: 29949, including taxes & rebates applied
    Remaining lease payments: 5000
    Money Factor: .0025
    Residual: 55%
    Monthly Payment: $562

Does this seem right to you? The money factor seems awfully high, as that would equate to a 6% APR. Could you let me know what the accuracy of this quote is according to your sources? If it's not accurate, could you let me know what your sources come back with?

Thanks in advance! You provide such a great service to this board!

    Carman-

You indicated about a week ago that Audi had sweetened their lease deals for the new A6. It was reported on another portion of this site that a 36 month, 15k lease is now looking at a 57% residual with a .00146 MF. Is this correct? If so, would a MSRP of $51,070, sell price of $49,250 (agressive, I know, but I think I could get them to this- or close), come to about $675/month or so? I love this car, could live at that range.

    Thanks!

Lease an 04' Grand Cherokee July 04 @ 558 for 47 months with Chrysler Financial. I have a trade-in with 5 grand upside down. Total cost of vehicle @ 32,000 w/ rebates.

Hefty! Yes. I was reading the contract and it indicates that I can buy it early and I dont understand the terms. Looking at it I would pay the 32,000 plus taxes and whatever else they come up with.

Is it better to just pay the thing off thru the lease, or could I somehow "lower" some of the cost and shorthen the lenght of ownership by having my credit union perhaps buy it from them and I can finance it thru them ? Totally clueless.

Learned my lesson! Next car will be a used Honda and driving it to the ground!

    Thanks!!!!!
