Can you put brake grease on the INSIDE part of the brake pad?

Where the brake pad meets the rotor a friend of mine was helping me with a brake job, when he insisted on greasing the pads... not the back of the pads, but where the pad meets the rotor. I'm confused I have never don't it this way before. Please help

I have a saying, "Anyone can do brakes........ Incorrectly" and no you do NOT put grease on the front of the pads. Doing that has contaminated them as well as the surface of the rotor. You will need new pads again and will have to clean the rotor's completely. To clean the rotors at the minimum you will need to wash them down with brake clean and then wash the brake cleaner residue off with soap and water. (dish soap works well)1
