I have a saying, "Anyone can do brakes........ Incorrectly" and no you do NOT put grease on the front of the pads. Doing that has contaminated them as well as the surface of the rotor. You will need new pads again and will have to clean the rotor's completely. To clean the rotors at the minimum you will need to wash them down with brake clean and then wash the brake cleaner residue off with soap and water. (dish soap works well)

Simple Green will also clean them up real nice after the Brake Kleen treatment. Toss the old pads away and at least consult a YouTube video next time.

Thanks for the quick responses, I should have stuck with my gut feeling and just told him to stop. I have learned sometimes you just need to be firm with people.
