Flashing dashboard lights

Sometimes, all the dashboard lights start blinking on and off. If the car is shut off, it will not start back up. We took it to an auto parts store and they did a computer diagnostic but found nothing. What could be the problem? How can we track down the problem and what can we do to troubleshoot?

Not sure what kind of "diagnostics" an auto parts store can do...but you could start by checking your charging system and battery, and of course cleaning the battery cables. Any drop in voltage can cause various modules to react badly and a "no-start" could be related to bad grounding.

I would check first the battery, battery terminals and the alternator.
