2012 Audi Q5 - Engine Replacement Needed
I have a Q5 2012 2.0, 83K miles. Was just told that that i need to replace the engine. Reason:
Timing has jumped on the engine. It appears as if the timing chain has stretched enough for the tensioner to be at its maximum limit. Commonly when it jumps time the pistons come up and hit the valves which has occurred in this case. And unfortunately it has also caused the pistons to move and score the cylinder walls.
Any suggestions? The car is only 5 years old.

As for suggestions, it really depends on how bad the damage is. If the engine can be rebored, then you can have it rebuilt. If not, then a used engine (with updated chain tensioner kit installed of course) might be a better idea.
Hold onto all your receipts--who knows, maybe there will be some re-imbursement or partial re-imbursement from Audi down the line.
