Most WRXs I've seen have been Silver. Looks great and understated (especially at the red lights).

Teeth cleaning, wax Sienna, wax OB all in past 2 months. I look at my smile reflecting from the wax jobs. ;)

Funny you should ask, but I just got back from the dentist for a regular cleaning. I last waxed my Forester about three weeks ago.

OK, I had waxed most recently, so it's 1-1. Anyone else?

Dentist first, waxed car *most* recently, and thanks for the reminder on the tires! Hard frost here last night, but no snow here yet. When it hits, I get to change tires on 4!! cars (all in the extended family, lucky me!)

    Cheers!

Visited the dentist last week for routine cleaning and waxed the LL Bean yesterday!

BTW, I used Klasse for the first time. To all of you who recommended the product(s), thanks. The waxing went so quickly I couldn't believe it. Next week, I'll apply the sealant. I won't, however, have my teeth cleaned again for another four months!

Will try to wax both vehicles this weekend (that and sucking up all the fallen leaves in our yard and gutters), including the alloys on the OB. My wife is gonna think I'm nuts taking the wheels off the car for no *real* reason.

Dentist early summer, wax (2 coats) mid summer both cars.

Waxed the Bean last weekend. Used Maguire's, quite happy with the results. Also used Maguire's for the leather. Been listening to the recommendations for Klasse, just haven't raised the energy needed to go out and look for some.

    Will check tires tonight!

is getting stranger all the time (thanks Juice). Oddly enough, I had my teeth cleaned about 2 months ago *and* waxed the car the same day! When I read the question I thought that it was "Twilight Zone" time - "How did he know?"

OK, so it's 5-1-1, waxing in the lead, so far.

So far, my experience with Zymol has been good. It has held up well on both of our vehicles since applying it in June. The surfaces are still smooth and bead well.

Klasse sounds promising, but I think I'll finish this bottle of Zymol first.

Just got back in fact from cleaning and have to go back next week for two cavities, waxed the Titan 3 weeks ago, hope to give him one more if it will only warm up for another day.

    Cheers Pat.

Despite short-term memory being the first of two things to fail (I can't remember what the other one is), I'm making myself a mental note to wax the back side of my summer wheels when they go on next spring... maybe I'll even put the rub to the snow wheels before I spin 'em on!

Contemplating how OCD could possibly be contagious through a computer modem...

    Cheers!

and wax my teeth, errr.......remove the leaves from my wheels, errr.....brush my car, err....

That reminds me. I need to wax between the doors, hood, hatch, etc before winter really sets in. Trying to decide which rubber mats I should get. LL Bean ($40), WeatherTech ($90), Husky ($70) or Subaru ($40). Mainly concerned about coverage.

  • hondafriekhondafriek Member Posts: 2,984
This OCD. at its most rampant, I take everything out of the interior. then I lay down a sheet of plastic vapour barrier then I bolt everything back in on top of it.

Its a bit of work but come spring when I take it out, no salt stained carpet, no stinking musty smell of wet carpet, and no worries about a corroded floor.

Perfect peace of mind for about 3 or 4 hours work.

    Cheers Pat.
  • subearusubearu Member Posts: 3,613
I was thinking about the Subaru ones since they will fit no problem, but I was curious about the weather-tech ones (ads in Automobile mag all the time).

How's this for OCD: I *always* kick off as much snow/slush as possible before swinging my feet into any car I ride in. Sometimes I even take the snow brush and completely clean my shoes/boots off. Sure they're a bit wet, but the snow/slush doesn't accumulate and melt on the carpet.

While I really like Pat's idea about *sealing* the carpet, I think I'll be OK with some decent rubber mats this year.

    -Brian
  • hammersleyhammersley Member Posts: 684
Greg - I've had pretty good success with the WeatherTech mats in previous cars... the new carpet-top ones I've seen advertised look even better than the all-rubber ones. FWIW.

    Chat tonight, anyone???

    Cheers!

Didn't get to wax my OB... so I cancelled my dentist appointment. Hmmm... now that it was mentioned, the two seem to go hand-in-hand with me. :-D <- still have my smile.

Still off topic. Got this off company e-mail.

"Subject: 1969 Cadillac De Ville Convertible for sale

Got a great 1969 Cadillac in driving condition (white with red interior) up for sale. Top is in good condition, engine runs well and the car is a real head turner."

Didn't ask for more details, but I was told he is asking $4K. E-mail me for his addy if there's any interest.

Yellowbikedon- welcome back! Hope the day and days to come finds you and your wife chirpy.

KarenS- still no luck accessing via *cough#work%cough* pc. There'll be maintenance done to the firewall this weekend. See what happens then.

Let see.... Staten Island to the Outerbridge Crossing to NJ TPK at exit 10? I am roughly 85 miles north of that point in Dutchess County. So maybe it is closer to 225 to the nearest CarMax. Might be worth it. I guess I would have to talk to my father about it. You got a decent price for the car? No games? Anyone else have experience with them?

Waxed the car two weeks ago and washed it once since. Haven't seen the dentist in 6 months....

My mouth is still touchy from where I had my teeth polished this morning. What's waxing?

Yep, my buddy was buying an '00 Trooper and had to unload his '96 T-bird that was in good shape and low milage (50K) but every dealer in NYC would only give him 3200-3500 max. The KBB for a "good" T-bird was $5K. So we took a ride down there showed up at about 4pm on a saturday night. After about 1.5hrs they had tested it, and came back with a price of $5K. Processed the paperwork for his loan company (he had a loan on it) and we were out of there in about 2.5-3hrs tops. Another friend did the same thing about 3 years ago with a ford probe with 85K miles. Got the KBB "good" condition price.

is about 10 miles from me. I use to live on Staten Island (in a former life) and made the trip back here in 2 1/2 - 3 hrs (depending on traffic) frequently.

You can close your eyes for miles and rest on the Jersey Tpk., the road is straight as an arrow :)
Actually the Jsy Tpk is a boring drive. I fell asleep at the wheel one time and if it hadn't been for a truck driver blowing his horn, I headed for the concrete support on an overpass.

    Waxing still well ahead, 7-3-2.

Our smiles may be crooked, like this :-}, but at least we're smiling at the shine on our paint!

Great chat. Really wacky. If you haven't been in a while, check it out some time. Topics vary so much, it's totally unpredictable. We were talking about mountain biking/kid carriers a lot last night.

I had my cleaning last month and Susan's Legacy is being washed and waxed this weekend, but first, I have to paint 2 very small chips, one on the front bumper, and one on teh drivers sidestrip(Florida parking wound!). We are babysitting our neighbors' 80lb golden retriever this weekend...Dina is excited; it is her boyfriend!

Very busy last night really enjoyed it, its nice that almost any topic is dicussed and not just cars.

I have to say once again that the Subaru crew is just like an extended family.

    Cheers Pat.
  • nygregnygreg Member Posts: 1,936
Pat - your my idol. I think laying down plastic on the floor is the OCD cream of the crop.

Mats - I would like to get the WeatherTechs, but think the $90 price tag is a rip-off. I remember seeing them for $80 only a month or two ago. Supply and demand? The husky mats (www.autoanything.com) looks like the same mats for almost $20 cheaper. Subaruparts.com has the subaru mats for $35, but they only come in black. The LLBean mats look interesting and they show it in an.....LLbean OB. They appear to cover nicely.

Chat - Once again, sorry for missing it last night. Getting the Sienna ready for the trip to Disney. Last night - new wipers, cleaned the battery terminals and replaced the air filter. The filter was much dirtier than expected so I removed the entire housing and washed it. OCD strikes again. :)

I agree. That plastic idea is above and beyond my comparatively shameful OCD behavior. I am not worthy!

Sandy will get a nice bath this weekend. She's back from the body shop, looking all better with a brand new rear bumper cover and taillight, but otherwise filthy.

The wife's car is going in to check that oil leak and front-end whine on Monday night (main seal suspected). I may take a peek at it myself this weekend, but I don't expect to be able to fix it.

I think you need to be a little bit insane to own a car in the first place, so I figure what the hell.

I gives the neighbours something to laugh at when I have the interior of my car spread all over the place, I can just hear them saying that nut is at it again.

But seriously it pays off in the long run I have done this with just about every car I have owned.

AN added benifit is most manufacturers run wira harness,s under the carpets and salt corrodes the hell out of them leading to shorts and bad connections.

    Cheers Pat.

The wheels are in a 48mm offset, quite light (under 19lbs in 17" size) and cost about $570 for all 4.

I like the silver ones. White is a bit too much for my tastes.

    -juice
  • locke2clocke2c Member Posts: 5,038
Rota as a brand are generally good wheels for the money. Since they are cast, and light, always be sure you have proper tire inflation and accept that fact that one nasty pothole could toast a rim (or two).

But they're inexpensive, so even that is a small risk.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
So you're saying I should not go to 19 inches on my Forester? ;-)

    -juice
  • barresa62barresa62 Member Posts: 1,379
Yeah, I like the silver ones. Also, the weight and price seems right. I could really justify additional mods w/the $ I would save on the wheels. I also have decided to go w/Bridgestone S03's for my "summer tire". The 225/45x17 is $171 per tire @ Tirerack.

First though, I need to decide between Dunlop Winter Sport M2 or Blizzak LM22 for my "winter tire" to be mounted on my stock 16" WRX rims. I want to get this done before my sis and her family get here from Indy. They want to go over the Cascades for X-mas. Anyhow, either performance winter tire choice above will perform in the dry/wet better than the RE92.

    Stephen
  • 1subydown1togo1subydown1togo Member Posts: 348
The silvers are nice..they are like a 5-spoke version of the Speedline GT1s. Did you see that Dan at Vivid had a group buy on any color of the P7s($210 each) and P1s ($249 each)..more expensive but Istill like them a lot.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Hmm, $570 plus $684 for tires, add shipping to that, for $1300 or so. Seems like a lot of dough to me.

Never mind, the same tires with Prodrives will set you back about $1600-1800. Ouch. Then again, I'm a cheapskate.

All that and you can't autocross in the stock class because of the bigger wheels.

    Are the prodrive wheels forged?

quote: Anyhow, either performance winter tire choice above will perform in the dry/wet better than the RE92.

That's a good bet, but don't get too eager in the dry on performance winter tires... you'll wear off all the edges and your ice performance will be lessened dramatically.

  • barresa62barresa62 Member Posts: 1,379
Serge: Naw, I missed that! Those are good prices. I like the looks of the silver P7s and P1s but the 7s are too heavy for me. Price-wise and weight-wise the Rota subzeros are hard to beat. I think they look more like a version of Racing Harts.

Juice: Its tough finding a reasonably priced, light but strong, good looking, and correct offset wheel for the WRX.

Colin: I hear ya. Mainly want the option of the winter tires. I have the aforementioned trip across the Cascade pass in Dec and a trip to Whistler in Feb. It's funny though, the last two years in Feb that I went to Whistler the Sea-to-Sky hwy was clear....go figure.

I plan on getting the 17"wheels and tires in the spring.

    Stephen
  • hondafriekhondafriek Member Posts: 2,984
I also like the silver wheels, whites a bit too radical for me, they are also a very good looking rim.

Price is right which also has to count for something.

    Cheers Pat.

Check out www.discounttiredirect.com, they have lots of choices. 17"x7" from $125 to $140 in many cases, but the sky is the limit.

Thanks to the WRX, there are now a lot more choices for aftermarket wheels with our offset, so it benefits other Subie owners too.

I graciously accept the OCD award. I promise to wash it at least weekly, wax it quarterly, and cover it with plastic for the winter, plus keep it in a climate and humidity controlled room all year long and...ARGH! I can't stop! :oO

Nice certificate, Serge! (un)fortunately, I'm not the OCD type. I'm not sure if it is genetic or environment. Seem's I have a tendency to want to get it done the fastest and most thorough way. So, what's the thought here - is it genetics or environment?

    Have a great weekend!
