Dinner was cool. They had Grilled turbot (fish, close enough). Check out pics in MTM.
It was Jamie's b-day and she wanted everyone to join her in a round of shots, I just got back to my room. We don't start until 11am tomorrow so it's cool.
smarter-than-smart to get a first-drive report from bob and juice
Believe me, we are working on exactly that. A couple of SoA staff seem receptive to the idea, we may be at future ride-and-drive events usually held for dealers only. Sounds like fun!
They haven't shown the Legacy yet, mike, only tomorrow at noon. That's when the Cobo Center opens.
Tonight was just dinner with the Subaru enthusiast community, which was cool. I spoke to Jamie, Jacoby from subdriven, and a few SoA employees (mostly the latter), making a case for the Crew.
Already I landed a secret special guest for a future chat, no more hints besides that.
I may get access to ride-and-drive events in the future, we'll see how that goes. Still lobbying and making the case...
Good thing I'm not there. I would have probably given him a left cross. Total BS that SOA has him there who's not an enthusiast, he's a poser! ARGGGGG. Mister Johnny come lately to the subaru community cause it's "hot"
Keep up the good work, get us some sponsorship for Team IAC so we can actually strut our stuff to the rest of the HPDE community (I love going to BMW events with the L )
He's actually a good guy. I sat next to him in the cab ride to the hotel.
He's been a Subie enthusiast for a while, he just piggy-backed on VWVortex to get the web site hosted for free. That also gets him access to the press fleet - he drove the EVO, STi, and R32 during that comparo.
might be there couldn't attend. I am relieved that the info. is out, but it was more because I'm in love with this car. It is a beauty. Something I haven't seen from Subaru since the design of the SVX. I'm really psyched about this one so being quiet was horrible.
Wow patti, looks like I have a plan now, keep the SVX for about a year longer, get my debts paid off and pickup a late '05 or early '06 model to replace the SVX. Can't wait to see/feel/drive it in person.
but that's a fairly old write up, actually. I find it funny that C&D is so myopic they think that a turbo Forester is a direct result of some testing in Colorado, when in fact a turbo Forester has been selling every BUT the US for years.
Loosh - they're hinting that prices are not yet determined. I'll ask again to be sure, though.
The plain GT loses leather and moonroof, so it could potentially cost less than the current 2.5GT, FWIW. The GT Limited will surely cost at least a little more.
I'm really psyched about the new Legacy too! I've been holding off on replacing my 98 Forester S for some time in anticipation of the new GT. I'm really glad I did.
Although I'll see it in person in less than a week, I'm almost certain the GT wagon is going to be my next vehicle! I'm seriously ready to buy TODAY!
Yep my subie has a vent under the front seat but not much of anything comes out. With our Tahoe there are adjustable heat vents (like front dash) and seperate temp and fan controls. They work awesome! High temp on Monday was -5 degrees F. without the wind chill....(about -30 with the wind).
Front heat on my Subie works very well. Almost too hot. Many times I have to turnt he temp down fromthe highest setting. Floor vents don't seem to work well though....
I'd be willing to pay right around 30k for a loaded GT Limited Wagon with leather, dual moonroof, McIntosh (I hope) and Nav (I don't need the Nav but if it comes in a package with the McIntosh I wouldn't complain too hard). Even if it's like 32k I'd still probably bite.
Considering the cars it competes with (on power/weight at least) that's at least a 10k price break. The cars I'm comparing it against are the Volvo V70R (42k with all the goodies I'd like) and the Audi S4 Avant (nearly 50k). Granted the Volvo may be a bit more roomy inside and it has the adjustable suspension. The Audi a bit less roomy but it's got that dead sexy exterior. The Audi may have nearly 100 more hp but it also weighs between 3900 and 4000 lbs. Then again if I compare it to an S6 Avant (at 60k, but the GT should still rival for get up and go) I come out even more ahead financially. ;-)
I want a Legacy GT with five speed, no sunroof, basic stereo, no navigation stuff, no auto climate control, no heated seats or mirrors and cloth interior.
To me that's worth the same $23,500 I'd pay for an identical Forester XT, or at most $1,500 more. More than that and I'm waiting till end of year clearance when I'll get the price I want, anyway.
Although this whole plan might be delayed a year depending on what my insurance does.
I know this should be in cafe, anyway how long has it been since you had an at fault accident.
Two years ago I got a letter from my insurance company stating since it had been years since I had an at fault accident my next at fault accident, if any, will be on the insurance company with no loss of good conduct to me.
You may want to investigate this with your company as a lot of insurers do offer this perk.
She's someone I work with and that's not really fair of me to judge or share an individuals opinion about an individuals performance. I'll stick to the "car stuff" if it's okay with you. I'm sure they'll get feedback from folks and go from there as our PR group is very thorough. If it is really bugging you, maybe send an e-mail into Subaru at the "Contact Us" section of Subaru.com. It'll get appropriate attention. I hope you're okay with this.
her. I just think she's a bit new and I kind of felt bad for her. I'm also a bit protective of anyone I work with. Part of my nature, you know? It just doesn't seem to be an "issue" for me directly. No foul!

You must feel like a weight has been taken off your shoulders now that the Legacy info is out!
So which of the incorrect rumors made you laugh the most? :-)

Anyway...did anyone else notice that the new GT will come with an engine immobilizer as part of the theft protection system?
I hadn't seen anyone mention it so I thought I would. ;-)
Cheers!

I went the purist route with the Forester and now am looking for a little pampering. ;-)

Cheers Pat.
