Momentary switch under hood

My 2010 Town and Country van 4.0l motor has a momentary switch which engine hood makes contact, can anyone tell me what that switch is used for?

    Maybe, a momentum switch?

    Those generally cutoff the fuel pump, in case of an accident. So, your vehicle doesn't catch fire.
