Thanks in advance for any advice !
I am trying to make a decision between two cars . Note that I am not sure yet if I will keep this longer than a couple of years ( long story ).

Option 1 - 2019 Certified Pre-owned Jeep Cherokee with 20K miles
Option 2 - 2022 New Jeep Cherokee .

The price difference between the two is about 9-10K .
Given the fact that I may need to sell/trade this in after a couple of years - what makes more sense?

Are they the same trim level?

Generally speaking, I'd go used, as the amount of depreciation should be less than with a new car.

    yes same trim level.
I agree about the depreciation under normal circumstances...however things being as they are - the used car is priced higher than it would be normally ..which is why I am overthinking this ..lol.

How are your finances? Can you afford new without strain? With new you’ll at least stand a chance of getting it for MSRP. You might have to wait months to get it though. The used Jeep you will get right away. With used cars, the prices are pretty outrageous and I fear some bad cars are being sold because of the short supply. Any used car should be checked thoroughly by a mechanic. I’m surprised you can get the used one that much cheaper. I’ve seen used ones going for almost new prices.

This is the worst time to need a car.

    Thanks for all your responses.

I know :'( ,it is the worst time . My last car was 12 years ago and I was negotiating on how much off MSRP I could get . The situation is reversed now.

The reason I looked at this used Jeep is because it is supposed to be certified PO by FCA - so it has the additional 2 years of factory Powertrain warranty etc
It does have a minor fender bender listed on Carfax, which is why it is cheaper than the others - repaired and supposedly goes through the FCA checklist.

yes I could afford the additional 10K without too much strain but was wondering if it was worth it..in case I need to sell in a couple of years,

IMHO the current inflated value of used cars might actually favor new, if you can find the new car you’re looking for and it’s not ridiculously marked up.
