Ahhhh..... now you know WHY I hate to do the INSIDE of the windows unless I absolutely have to. The ZAINO window cleaner will do the trick, but it takes LONGER to do the windows then to ZZ the whole car! When I try to take the EASY way out and do them quickly, they look great in the shade. Get in the sun and it looks like a 2 year cleaned them! ;-))

    PS Where's OSCAR??

I tried to apply Z2 on my truck without drying it first…
BAD IDEA. Zaino is good but not that good.

Ummm, so you don't use Z6 on your kitchen mircowave's glass window? OK, ok, I went a bit overboard. But I did correctly credit you with thinking up this wonderful idea. I called Sal a few months ago regarding a Z1 question and also mentioned your application of Z6 on the windshield (and how much I liked it). Sal told me he didn't recommend that usage because it was only 'cosmetic' and the Z6 would wash off in the rain. Instead he recommended using Zaino Glass Polish followed by Windex. To which I added Z6 again to finish. And yes, I now use Z6 on TV and computer screens too. Thank you again.

And I really hate to clean the interior windows too. Due to the angle of the windshield and position of the rear seats and rear window, I always seem to get jammed up and cramped into odd leg positions. What a pain. But I did find Zaino's Glass Polish to be extremely good at removing those nasty films caused by aging plastics.

No MS joke here, but I'm glad to be able to add something I've found that works well for me (on the inside rear window), since the information I've found here has been so helpful:

Locally (NE) a window cleaner call "Professional Glass Cleaner" is available. I use it, twice. Each time (in the shade, as hot glass will streak badly) spray the window lightly, remove most of the spray with a paper towel. Then dry it thoroughly with a second paper towel. Do the window again, same way. Then polish the window with an old t-shirt. It's not perfect, but does fine so long as I go slow enough to not miss spots.

fastdriver, I'm adding Zaino products to my well water. I can't wait to see what it'll do for my grass! And at the next physical, won't the doctor be impressed!!!

But seriously folks, a question -- more on lubricants, please. Having read your posts and everything at the Zaino site, I've ordered everything except Sal Zaino's old underwear. But I'm not sure what the consensus is on the lubricant -- perhaps because I'm not sure what it's supposed to do.

Sorry for such a dumb question, but I'd like to be clear on it before I give the UPS guy a hernia with all these bottles he'll be delivering!

    Take care.

You should've ordered Sal's underwear too. It's sure to be 100% cotton and made in the USA.;-)

I didn't see anything on the Zaino order form about 'lubricant'. The only lubricant I can think of in the process would be for the clay bar, and Zaino recommends using their car wash for that.

    pblevine-

I'm so glad that everyone is having a good laugh with my Z-6 uses!! I do use the ZAINO glass cleaner. I just finish it off with some Z-6. I don't think it washes off with rain. The rain flies off the windshield without putting the wipers on.

    jwilson1-

The doctor sure will be surprised if you use the lubricant!! I don't think you'll find it at Sal's site, but you will find it at your local pharmacy! LOL..... I think tom3k is correct. It's the car wash/water solution when using the clay.

If you do use the ZAINO in your well, you will have the greenest, wettest looking lawn in the neighborhood! LOL....

PS I'm not going to share anymore of my Z-6 uses! ;-)))

Like tom3k, I too am thinking you meant the lubricant for the Clay Bar. A cap-full of Z7 Zaino Car Wash in about a gallon of water should due the trick. The purpose is to allow the clay to 'slide' over your car's surface without smearing onto the car's finish. You can put the mixed 'lubricant' into an old Windex spray bottle or any other spray bottle you can find. Just spray it onto the panel to be 'clayed' and gently slide the clay over the 'lubbed' surface.

Thanx for all the hints on the rear window problem. I will try them all!

The Z6 really makes the outside glass sparkle. Here in L.A. we don't worry about rain washing it off! (Except for last month!)

would it be safe to use it on tinted windows?
Anyone encounter problems on tinted windows?

Just curious before I try it out

I think the Z-6 would be okay for the tint, but NOT the Zaino window polish because it has a mild abrasive in it. E-mail Sal Zaino just to be sure.

I have been using Turtle Wax "ClearVue" glass cleaner and it seems to work very well on the tinted windows.

In regard to your Z6 bottle, it's a pain but you can only open the spray end a little bit, just beyond the "closed" position. It's such a tiny bit I can't even describe it. If you open it even an 1/8 of a turn your right, it comes out like a stream. I did'nt think Z6 would really make much difference, but it's surprising the shine is better and it does repel dust better.
I've only used Z1 and Z5 so far, but I'm looking forward to trying the Z2 to finish off my black V8 LS.

In about 10 days, I will have some info on a group purchase for ZAINO polish.

Stay tuned. I will post the info as soon as I hear from Sal.

After being a car detailing junkie for the past 20 years, I finally decided to give Zaino a try. This is by far the best product I have ever tried. Gave my wife's 2000 Accord (Naples Gold Metallic) the full z18, z1, z2, z6, z2 treatment yesterday and boy does this car shine. I had three neighbors ask for copies of the order form before I even got the second coat of z2 on. Next weekend it's time for my vehicle (2000 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab, Sand Dune Metallic) Perhaps I will give it a few extra coats of z2 so that it outshines the Accord. I love this stuff.

If you want to apply a second application of Z2 a week or so after the first application of Z2, do you have to go through the entire Dawn, clay, Z7 process again - or do you just wash with Z7 and apply the second application of Z2?

    :) Thanks for the help!

    lanie1-

NO!!!!!!!!! Just wash if it's dirty and apply the Z-2/Z-6!!!!! That's it!! In less than an hour, it's all done. Don't have to use Z-1 again until you have put about 10 coats of Z-2 on. NO DAWN or clay for a LONG time!

Yesterday I washed and Z'd my car. It was about 35 degrees when I started and ended up about 40. It didn't feel that cold in the sun. I thought my car looked great in those Feb. pics that I posted. It looks 10 times better now!

    thanks for the info fastdriver.

now I assume that they tint windows by spraying on the tint on the windows..is that right? do they spray the inside and the outside?

So I guess they spray the tint on the outside that is why you said not to use the window polish on the windows.??
  • SergeichSergeich Member Posts: 54
I am pretty sure it is inside.

    curt3dfx - No Spray!

Virtually ALL tinting is done by applying a film to the inside of the windows. The spray techniique was VERY unreliable and uneven and dissapeared years ago.

The films are perfectly even, can be removed and repaired, and some contain metallic compunds to further block UV and heat from your interior. Even the best films can be scratched, however, so you do not want to use any abrasive window cleaners or scratchy paper towels on the insides of the window. I am now using a Turtle Wax product safe for tinted windows with a soft towel, and all looks fine.

If you are interested in tinting, don't go for the low-cost job. Your tinter should use 3M or one of the better films, and should give you a lifetime guarantee. It is common to see water bubbles for the first few days as the film drys, but not after that. If they do it right, you cannot tell a film was applied. If you are in the L.A area I can refer you to a superb shop in Valencia.

Most aftermarket tint is a self adhesive film applied to the interior of windows. I don't know if Z products on film tint is recommended...suggest you contact Sal and ask directly.

Got my stash of Z on Friday. This week is shaping up to be nice, so perhaps this weekend I'll get "Zainoed". I'll post results.

Sorry everyone....I did not see the comprehensive explanation by newwestd prior to posting above. BTW, for info on tint, go to the Accessories conference, topic 30.
