Lease return: tire charges

I am about to return my leased vehicle, and at least 2 of the tires are below the tread guidelines. Does anyone know what VW charges? Is it more wholesale pricing, or punitive pricing? Trying to figure out if I should put new tires on it before returning. Thanks!

    You should be able to call VW Credit and ask them.

    I just called and asked as suggested. They said they do not know because "all tires are different." That answer doesn't make sense to me given that these are the original tires and they know the requirements for replacements.

    Have you had your inspection? When I turned in my leased Jetta they sent someone out to look over my car and tell me if anything needed attention.

    I am not able to get an inspection scheduled for 3+ weeks and I am planning to turn the car in before then. It is frustrating that neither VW nor AIM (their 3rd party inspection company) can tell me what the pricing will be.
