Tell us what you want and please move on... this topic has been beaten enough already. Where is the number to substatiate the magnitude of the problem??
Thank you.
CDX. At least my powertrain is flawless
Also anyone else with info on this matter. My original post is #437 thanks any help will be greatly appreciated! Vinney
So, what will you do if the Maxima's transmission decides to leak next week?
Continue looking for the perfect car?
I don't think Honda quality as slipped at all. An ocassional problem will affect any make and model.
I really believe that misery loves company. People come here to complain in these forums.
Had these forums existed five or ten years ago, there would have been similar stories of woe to tell. No car is perfect.
And, that was my point. Personally, I think you overreacted by trading your Accord in, but that is only my opinion.
Maximas are excellent cars but are not without problems too. What would you try next if troubles arise?
I just find it odd that after SIX Accord without problems that a person would panic.
I wish you well with your Maxima!

Good luck.

I am on my 5th Accord. Have they all been trouble free?? No. Cars are machines, and machines sometimes break. I have seen it with multi-million dollar industrial equipment. I think that is why they have that thing called a warranty.
More and more people seem to have the "throw-away" mentality, even when it comes to high dollar items like cars. If you look at the J D Power survey, it seems to show that all cars, no matter how expensive, have some problems. Oh well.

Anybody had a timing belt replaced for significantly less.
I have a 98 accord coupe and just today
noticed that the brake indicator light goes on and
stays on after I release the parking brake and
drive. Strangely though, when I do not engage the
parking brake and start the car, the brake light
indicator does not even light up. I read in the
manual that the light could indicate a problem
with fluid levels or the entire brake system. The
fluid levels are fine...could it be anything else
besides that? Are there any other reports of
problems with brake indicators in the new Accords?
Thanks for any help.
Thanks a bunch.
Well there are alot more automatics on the road vs the sticks but they do seem to have less problems in general. However this tranny thing with the automatics is most of the reasons.
Hondalemon,
Sorry to hear that you have had such bad luck. The trans thing is strange, yours will be the first one that I have heard of that didnt end the problem completly unless it turns out to be the techs fault.I have seen a few of those. By the way what took so long on the repair was the trans on backorder or something (just curious). Hope all works out for you, good luck.....

00 EX V6 Coupe/black on black (ugh!)/3800 miles.
I was moving a giant TV out of my back seat and it teared the leather covering on the door panel and I have a couple of puncture holes. The tear is a triangle about 2 inches in width and 3 inches in length. I have the quartz leather interior. My wife is very upset and i told her..."I did it, I'll fix it" car has only 500 miles on her.

Good Luck
It sounds to me like the sevice department is making up stories to deflect blame.
Problems with an oil drain plug? There is nothing to have problems with... just a threaded plug and a washer, not very high tech items. Unless the pan or plug were cross threaded, the plug was most likely just not tightened.

2000 Accord SE 2.3L/auto, Ruby Red Pearl/Ivory
First of all, thank to everyone who responsed my posting earlier.
Is it normal to hear a "clunk" from the tranny when shifting from park to reverse while your leg is still on the brake?
Here is the story, the tranny on my 2000 EXV6 accord was replaced with a rebuild one about a month ago. The service manager said it is designed that way. But my friend's 1999 LXI4 does not make the "clunk" sound when he shift from park to reverse.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
I just purchased a new 2000 4 cylinder coupe. Got it home and the next day noticed that the transmission emits a high pitched whine as I accelerate and a similar type whine as I slow down.
I went to the dealer and we test drove a new 2000 sedan and it sounded similar. He said that the
gear windings might be too tight, but if other cars sounded the same they wouldn't do anything.
I haven't owned a Honda before, but the noise doesn't sound good for any car.
I was wondering if this is normal for a Honda, and if anyone else has any idea what I'm talking about.
Thanks
I don't have a suggestion to reduce the wind noise. It is there. And for anyone who says that the noise is not any greater than any other car, then they haven't driven enough cars to compare.
I find the wind noise, when it is not windy outside, occurs above 40mph. I can only guess at the source. Other posts from a while back discussed this. There were instances of a improperly installed windshield. But I think that, because of the repetition of this observation, is not isolated and not imagined by picky owners.
I rented a car while my previous car was being repaired-it was a $9K Daewoo. No wind noise, no noise from anything, including the interior. My early 90s Mazda did not have any windnoise either. All driven on the same 40mi commute in the Bay Area.
I wonder about: the high position of the wipers (unshielded by hood) and the strange implementation of the vertical rubber front window gasket- it makes a strange channel (recessed) at the A-pillar junction
---angles are not good for aerodynamics are they Wilbur?
I'm bounce free.

Mine is an automatic.
At the risk of sounding
like a chronic complainer, the whining sounds
out of my tranny are driving me nuts. Otherwise,
I'd be fairly satisfied with the car. I guess I
can live with it if I knew it was truly normal. The dealership has told me to come back after 3K miles, but I don't think the sounds going to go away.
What I learned is that I should pay more attention
when I'm testing driving the thing. Has anyone else heard from their transmissions?
Also, what do you guys think of interior fabric. Mine seemed to get matted (?) down fairly easily.
