Thanx for the quick response Car_man. I too agree that that is a very fair price. I was just trying to verify whether I should expect to be able to reduce the TVM with the rebate. Can I assume that the salesman lied about the actual invoice price?

I just want to have ALL my ducks in a row before sitting down with him.

Before you buy that Aztek, you might want to look around for a used one. In my town, you can get a nearly new one for thousands below invoice. They appear to be losing a massive amount of value when they are driven off the new car lot.

Edmunds posted a 6.9% finance rate being offered by Audi on the A4 from model years 1999, 2000, 2001. My daughter worked a deal to purchase a 2001 model from Jack Daniels Audi in Fairlawn, NJ, and was told there is no such incentive. What gives?

Hi cpa4u. I haven't seen the May incentives for Infiniti yet, but I have seen Nissan's May incentives. Through May 31st, Nissan has $500 Dealer Cash AND 3.9% financing for up to 60 months (they may be combined) on the 2001 Maxima. This car's lease program is essentially the same as it was in April.

Audi's exact finance rates will vary depending upon one's credit score. In April, I am positive that in the state of New Jersey Audi had financing rates of 6.89% for exclusive Credit Tier Customers, 7.09% for Preferred Credit Tier Customers, and a standard interest rate of 9.09% for all customers who don't qualify for one of the aforementioned rates. All of these rates are good for up to 60 months.

Phkck, last month Nissan did have 3.9% for 24 mo., 4.9% for 36 mo., and 5.9% for 48 - 60 mo. terms on the 2001 Maxima. However, I believe that they have enhanced their special financing rates on this car Nationally for the month of May to 3.9% for up to 60 months.

Have you had a chance to come across the May incentives for an Infiniti I30t yet? On the I30 board a couple of people have indicated that they bought an I30 for $1000-$1100 UNDER invoice. The best I've come across is $300 OVER. I live near Nashville and that deal was from an Atlanta dealer with 22 I30t's on the lot. I know you said Nissan had $500 dealer cash on Maximas, so maybe Infiniti has done something along the same lines with the I30 (especially with the new model coming out). Thanks for all your help!!

Cpa4u, I expect to see the new Infiniti incentives at some point in the next couple of days. In April, there was $1,000 Dealer Cash & $1,000 Owner Loyalty cash available on the 2001 I30. I suspect that May's incentives for this car will be fairly similar to those that were available in April. This may help to explain why people have been getting such good deals on this car. Phkck, it is difficult for me to say when Edmunds will update their incentives data. Generally, the information comes in piece by piece so it is best to keep checking every day to find out if they have updated the info for the vehicle that you are interested in. If you ever want to find out what incentives are available on a vehicle that has not been updated yet, please feel free to ask me. I usually know about most vehicles' incentives programs before they appear on this site and am always glad to help.

Just wondering if you had heard anything yet about May's incentives on I30's. One dealer just told me via phone that there are NO incentives this month, including rebates, dealer cash, or interest rates. I find that a little hard to believe on this car as the I35 is coming out and it is getting closer to model year end. I have found 2 cars that match my color and options "wish list" and plan to try to trade on Friday. So, any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Kelly. Ford recently enhanced their special financing program on the 2002 Explorer to 3.9% for up to 36 months, 4.9% for 48 months, and 5.9% for 60 months. However, General Motors has not introduced special financing rates on the 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer yet. Given the fact that they already have significantly supported lease rates on this truck, I certainly think that supported financing is in its future. It is difficult to predict with 100% certainty when such a program would be implemented though.

Cpa4u, the individual who you spoke with was not telling you the truth. Infiniti has $1,000 Dealer Cash good on both retail and lease transactions on the 2001 I30 through July 2nd. In addition to this Dealer Cash they also have $1,000 owner loyalty on this car. I still haven't seen the specifics of their May lease program for this car yet, but I am almost positive that the lease money factors on the 2001 I30 will be at least as good as the .00189 (about 4.5%) that Infiniti Financial Services was offering on it in April.

Help! I would like to know how rebates work. For instance say there is a 500 customer cash,a 500 incremental customer cash,a 500 ohio customer cash, and a 500 cincinnati customer cash. Does this mean there is $2000 available to someone who buys in cincy? Also there is a 500 dealer cash and a 500 incremental dealer cash available. Does this make it a total of $3000 off in cincy? This is what is available on a silverado according to edmunds. Does gmc follow the same rebates and incentives with the sierra? Sorry to be a pain but my answers from the dealerships have been lacking. Thanks for your help.

Hi rockypup. Different incentive programs have different rules of compatibility. Sometimes two cash programs can be combined with eacth other and other times they can't. It sounds to me as though you live in Chevrolet's North Central region (Ohio). If that is the case, then you would only be eligible for $500 Consumer Cash or special financing on most 2001 Silverado models. The GMC Sierra's incentives program should be very similar, if not exactly the same as the one that is available on the Chevrolet Silverado.

Car_Man, went to the Infiniti dealer tonight after work. He came back with a trade difference that I called an insult. He said make me an offer, so I insulted him. LOL He finally came down $3k off his first offer. Which I didn't think was enough based on prices I've seen here. Anyway, he said that $750 OVER invoice was the least profit he could take. So, I mentioned the $1000 dealer cash that you said was available through July 2. He said there is no dealer cash on this car. I said there was. So, he goes through some folders on his desk, says no again. He said, I'll call the "southeastern sales rep" and ask. Goes into another office. Comes back and says "nope, no cash". So, is he just missing something or just flat out telling an untruth (as my Grandmother used to say)????

Cpa4u, I have seen dealer bulletins that state that there is cash available on the 2001 Infiniti I30. I doubt that they would just yank this program out from under their dealers. I suppose that they could have some regional variation in their incentives, but in the past this really was not the case. Perhaps you should try shopping around at another dealer or two to see if they would be willing to provide you with a lower price on this car. During your subsequent negotiations with other dealers you can try to get a feel for if this cash is available in your area. I still have a feeling that it probably is.

Thanks for all your help. I will be picking my I30t up late this week from another dealer. Did all the work over the phone and through email. He gave me a great deal compared to the first dealer. We talked about the $1000 incentive and he was very responsive. I figure I got the car for about $300 under invoice when all was said and done considering my trade.

Here is my last question (I hope). Do you know anything about the 6.9% rate on the I30s listed on Edmund's incentive page. It says that I can get this for 60 months through May 31st on I30's or I30t's. My dealer says that the best Infiniti rate on 60 months is 7.75%. Is this a dealer ploy to make a few extra $$$ off the finance charges? Should I make him give me the 6.9% or call Infiniti finance?

I was almost positive that the Infiniti I30 dealer cash was available nationally, that's why I told you to stick to your guns if your dealers tried to play dumb. Enjoy your new cars!

They have had low interest rates on the 2001 G20 for a little while now, but I am not aware of any sort of special financing that Infiniti has on the 2001 I30 at this point. I suppose that it is possible that there is special financing on this car, but I haven't heard anything about it. It certainly wouldn't hurt to do some research by placing a call to IFS (Infniti Financial Services) or a few other dealerships just to make sure though.

Yes, apk711, Mercedes-Benz is currently providing its dealers with $2,000 Dealer Cash on 2001 E320 & E430 models. As one might imagine, Mercedes is pretty hush hush about its incentives because it wants to protect its exclusive image, but the cash is out there on this particular car.

Bnjones, mikeisme65 is correct. Last month General Motors was offering special Memorial Day incentives on the 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon in certain regions. Specifically, in May they had $1,000 Consumer Cash in their Western region and $750 Dealer Cash in many other parts of the country on these trucks. Unfortunately, these special promotions ended and were not continued for the month of June. I have not heard about any sort of special financing programs for these trucks yet, but it is entirely possible that they just introduced one.

Gottabee, I am sorry to say that Mercedes-Benz only has Dealer Cash available on the 2001 E-Class and M-Class. As I am sure you are well aware, the redesigned C-Class has been very well received by the market and does not need the cash support at this point.

I know that Subaru has a financing offer as low as 2.9% for 24 months right now, but does anyone know if they have any rebates or dealer incentives available instead of or in addition to the financing? I've been seeing some 2001 cars advertised for way below Edmunds's TMV and even below invoice, so I suspect there is some incentive. Any info would be appreciated.

It was brand new this spring. Any speculation on how soon before incentives might be offered? Before the end of the year? Not until the 2003's arrive? Production is supposed to be increased on them at the Rendezvous/Aztec plant to make up for decreased production of the Aztec.

Boondocks, GM is already offering a little lease support on the 2002 Buick Rendezvous, but they do not have any other sort of cash or special financing incentives that I am aware of on it yet. General Motors hopes that this vehicle has more success in the marketplace than the 2001 Pontiac Aztek did, but I suspect that it will meet a similar fate. As a result, I would not be surprised if they do introduce cash or special financing on this car at some point in the third quarter of this year. Of course, this is just an educated guess though.

Hi clpurnell. I would be more than happy to share with you what I know about the current incentives that are available on the vehicles that you are interested in.

2001.5 Volkswagen Passat: Right now VW is offering special low finance rates of 3.9% for 24 months, 4.9% for 36 months, and 5.9% for 48 to 60 months on all 2001.5 Passats. They are also providing special low lease money factors on this car, which are enhanced even further on certain trim levels in the states of Nevada, California, Arizona, & Hawaii. In addition to these special lease and financing rates, Volkswagen is providing $300 Dealer Cash on this car that may be used in conjunction with the aforementioned programs.

Honda Accord EXv6:Until July 9th, Honda is offering consumers special low financing rates of 3.9% for up to 36 months, 4.9% for 48 months, and 5.9% for 60 months on all Non-Value Package Accords. They also have a special lease program on Non-Value Package models, which they enhanced on July 3rd. You didn't mention exactly which model you want, but I would be happy to provide you with a sample lease payment if you provide me with that information. There is no Consumer or Dealer Cash support currently available on the 2001 Accord in most areas.

Nissan Maxima SE, GLE: For the month of July, Nissan is providing 3.9% special financing for up to 60 month terms on the 2001 Maxima. They also have special low lease money factors on this car. Furthermore, there is $500 Dealer Cash on the 2001 Maxima that may be combined with these special financing and lease programs.

Pontiac Bonneville: General Motors recently enhanced their incentives program on the 2001 Bonneville to 0.0% special financing for up to 36 months, 3.9% for 48 months, and 5.9% for 60 months. In lieu of these low rates, they are offering $2,000 Consumer Cash on this car. Of course, GM also has low lease rates and a little bit of Lease Cash available on the 2001 Bonneville. One more thing, if you are a current GMAC lessee, you may be eligible to have all of your remaining lease payments waived and get an additional $500 off of a new Bonneville.

Toyota Avalon: Last but not least we have the 2001 Toyota Avalon. There were no special financing, cash, or lease programs on the Avalon in your area during the month of June. Most region's Toyota incentives programs are scheduled to run through July 9th. After that date, they will release their July program, but I don't anticipate them adding any sort of incentives on this particular car. Of course, one never knows for certain what a manufacturer will do until a program is actually released.

All of the cars that you are looking at are decent vehicles. You really can't go wrong by selecting any of them. However I think that if I was in your shoes, I would probably go with either than Accord EX V6 or the Passat V6 as my first choice. After these two, I would probably go with the Maxima. Next would be the Avalon, followed by the Bonneville in a distant fifth place.
