Bimmer buyers are waaay too picky for re-paints, I don't care if NASA did the work .. on the retail side, $22/$23ish .. the re-paint, maybe $19 ..
Let me know ...
Terry.
If the service is fine, no hit's, no freedom fry invasions, deep round things, looks like a 20k vehicle, then trade side you should be seeing the $22ish figure, "might" "could" see $23 if you have been going to church ..
Good luck and let me know ...
Terry.
If it's a nice one, trade side the high $16's, low $17's ..
Terry.
If it's a nice one, no Captain D's laying all over the back seats, no deer meat on the hood, just a "stand tall" vehicle .. then trade side, the ultra high $21's, low $22's .. the miles save this one ..

#1 - 1998 Accord EX V6 4dr auto - Dark green with tan leather, needs tires, had all service, average condition for it's age, a few dings and dents - 90,000 miles.
#2 - 1997 Explorer XLT V8 4dr 4wd - Red with tan cloth, 68,000 miles - good condition - does not need tires, power stuff, cloth inside.
No paintwork on either car - thanks in advance.
Ed
Thanks,
Todd
In fact, I'm seriously thinking about dumping mine after the lemon law deal is done.
Miles are waaay tall, hope it has new rubber and new brakes, I hope it looks 00, I hope there is no click click in the 4wd .. if so, it's worth around the $4's on a trade, maybe the high $4's .. down Retail Rd, $6,9 after a super duty detail and service and $5,9/$6,5 sends it packing .. I would be trading/selling now, everything can change by Nov ..
The Astro, they probably have the high $12's, low $13's in it, $15 or so should send it home -- if you trade the Exploder, you should be trading for "around" a $10ish difference plus the TTL ...
Good luck and let me know ..
Terry.
The 97 Exploder doesn't "sound" too bad, miles are low for the year, right color, 4wd .. if it's a nice one, clean, looks 00 .. then trade side, in and around the high $6's, low $7's ..
Terry.
You gotta about 45 days or less on this one, after that, when the fall hit's the honeymoon is over ..
Terry.
These things do all the Peso's if they are nice and clean, hard to get - hard to find .. with a great history, new sneakers, feels and looks 00, then the dealer "could" have the $17's in it .. if you can get it for $19ish in your area that would be fair ..
Let me know on this one ..
Terry,

what are the "no sale" colors OR is that model specific???
I am looking at trading in the following:
2003 Fresco Green Volkswagen Passat GLS sedan. Has the following:
A/C, pwr windows/doors, pwr moonroof
heated seats, moonsoon radio (cd/tape)
black cloth seats, keyless entry/alarm, fog lights
The car only has 13,000 miles on it. Have only been driving it for 7 months. Still looks and drives great. What could I expect to get for it as a trade-in?
Thanks
Gwelmo
it seems to me that grey, silver and white will be the right color on any type of car in any part of the country. Black is a good color here in the northeast, but a no-no down south. Dark red/burgandy seems to do well on sedans and SUV's.
I'm not sure about gold/tan. I personally don't like it. Bright red works ok on sports cars, sport coupes and possibly on some pickups(I see alot of red pickups). Trendy colors just don't seem to work at all. That dark green was all the rage in the 90's, but no longer. (I know I'm sick of it). A lot of car companies are using blue now, some are very attractive, but I know Terry uses the saying no sale blue all the time. And purple? That doesn't work at all unless you have a 70's Mopar muscle car. I think bright yellow is also highly model dependent. (I like it on Jeeps).
Terry, did i do ok?
I see plenty of vehicles with the darker blues selling well, from SUV to sedans. Even the sporty smaller cars sell well with the "electric blue".
(Chicago) 2002 Honda Accord Sedan, Silver, EX-V6, Dealer Fog Lights and Dealer Spoiler. 10,200 miles. Car is flawless, except for a few faint door dings that can only be seen in certain lighting conditions. Honda dealer just quoted me $17.5K Kelly Blue Book says closer to $19K...

Is it a 1.8T or a 2.8?
Manual, or Tiptronic?
how do you like your 2003 Accord? I looked at the EXV6 coupe with 6spd MT, but they wouldn't let me test drive it. they said they can't allow anyone to put miles on it....

BTW, when I buy a new car I choose the color for me, not the market. If it's worth less because the market doesn't like my color as well, I don't care. In fact, I feel it makes my car more unique. But I was surprised that the Edmund's tool discounted my color, Indigo Blue. At the VW forum they took an informal poll on Passat colors and Indigo Blue was the favorite.
Just bought a 2002 Intrepid, and don't need the Caddy now.

Hey now, don't pick on purple. The 1997 Ford Explorer Limited I just bought is Desert Violet Metallic.....basically its purple or kind of a plum color. I like it, but would sure hate to have to worry about selling it. My favorite color is the ivory white, but I took what I could get and don't regret it.
What about info???
Miles??
Auto, manual??
4-cyl, V6??
color??
cloth, leather??
condition??
location??
Info baby........or Terry will send you to his new torture chamber.
Most of what I have read says that Edmunds TMV is more accurate than KBB and/or NADA but, in my case Edmunds gives me a much higher market value estimate than the other two guides. If I price the car near the Edmunds price buyers say "But KBB says it is worth $1000 less". It seems that KBB is the default standard and it hurts me in this case. If I tell the prospective buyer "The guides show averages and some cars sell for more and some less" I sound like...well...a used car salesman!
The car is a 96 Honda Accord, 25th anniv., 62K, miles, silver/gold, AT, super clean, all orig. equip functions, runs and looks great, etc. and is located in TX.
Edmunds(Clean) puts trade-in @$6364 and PP@ $7472
KBB(EX) puts trade-in @$4925 and PP@ $6400
NADA has Trade-in $5825 and RETAIL@ $7250 and I'm assuming PP for NADA is the average between TI and RE which is about the same as KBB value.
So, why does Edmunds not agree with the others and why on the high side in this case?
Any info or perspective you can provide would be appreciated.
Rerenov8r and 5speedster: I agree that many of the dark blues and electric blues do seem to sell well with new cars, because I see a lot of them on the road. I just don't know how they do on used cars. Also, I totally agree that you should buy the color that you like and not what the market is dictating. After all, you are the one who has to look at it in your garage or driveway.
Akangl: I don't see many purple cars on the road.I remember a few years ago reading some article, I think in the NY Times about how the Manufacturers where looking for the next popular color, like the dark green, and purple was prominently mentioned. But it never seemed to catch on with the public. I like purple on a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. I believe Terry has said on several occasions that a purple car will sit for a long time on a used lot and will probably sell at a discount. But, since you like purple, then you have followed the best advice I've seen on this board: Always buy and drive what you like.
(Even if it's purple):)
I've got an offer for $17K from the Mazda dealer. Just wanted to make sure I was on the right track. Dealer put it on paper for $17K as my RX8 isn't due in until next month. Used car manager said I'd get $19K-$20K if I sold it myself....don't know about that. He said he wouldn't mind if I sold it myself but will stick to his offer when my car comes in.
Zues....what is the status of your lemon claim? Only 6,500 miles, but mine's been perfect and runs like a scalded dog.
Debated whether to get rid of Cruiser, but it really isn't a car that I would have chosen.

I still have problems with a high-speed miss, an intermittent transmission slip, and a new problem where the power locks jump up and down on their own.
The tire vibration (since delivery) went uncorrected (dealer quit trying), so I just installed new Kuhmo 712s (225/45-17 W-rated instead of the H-rated Goodyear RSA 205/50-17). Problem fixed, awesome tires, handles 10 times better.
never crashed, no structural damage, scratches to rear bumper, otherwise original paint in excellent condition, runs well
tan interior is in VG condition, no tears, no stains/spills, nonsmoker vehicle, no flood damage
vehicle purchased in south florida never been outside the state, at work - garage kept
bed liner, penda tool box, vent visors, bug shield, push bar, fog lights, tinted windows
Looking to purchase a v-8 Tundra x - cab.
I got a black book estimate of $2250 from a Toyota dealer. I'm looking for $4000? Are my expectations set too high? Please advise. Thanks.
All while listening to Barney music........"I love you......you love me......we're a happy family......with a great big hug and a kiss from me to you......won't you say you love me too....."
porknbeans........ended up not leaving, was all packed and loading up the Explorer Sunday morning and my soon to be ex asked me to stay. I did and well, he's not my soon to be ex anymore, we decided to work it out.
No more car lots for me......unless I'm visiting a friend.
