.... A quick, fair, send it down the road price on the Accord would be $5,9 "asking", say bye bye at $4,5/$5,5, lot's of competition in this price range .. the GLX, remember stiff miles, lot's of 25/35kers out there, at $13,499 asking and say "see ya at the bank" at $12,0/$13,0 ...

Yeppers, those MDX's do All the monies, but if you read some of the other boards, we have some folks that are paying $200/$500 *under invoice ~ and the Pope is coming over to my house for dinner tonight .. ;)

Don't forget to let me know ...

...... The nice thing about this purchase is, you know the previous owner very well .. basically it's a base LE, miles are low, it's worth in and around the low low $8's on the wholesale side.

Hey, where are you going to find a nice Yota for $8,900 .?, it's a $10,0 vehicle .. fix it up, throw some good tires on it and drive it for the next couple of years .. whats the worst thing that can happen, you sell it in 2 years for $7,9 ..

..... Most Mazda dealers that I know, are getting $2k over MSRP, or at least sticker ($33k sticker) .. You don't like it ..?

If this pup needs to go, now is the time .. few and far between, "seems" demand is more then standing inventories, it's July .. what can I say, in another 2 months that market will dwindle by 50/75% due to weather, then you will be holding your breath til' April/May .. if you go down Retail Rd, probably $1,0/$2 grand back of the lowest dealer in the area ..

..... Pre-owned CR-V's aren't distressed merchandise .. not to sound smart, but I have been following the "trend" of discussions across the boards .. for whatever reason, folks think cuz' the 04's are coming out that dealers will slitting their wrists to move pre-owned 540's, Suburbans, Tributes, Landcruisers, etc, etc, .. all the new year entry does, is move the pecking order on the new side ..

I hope this makes sense ...

...... Funny little dudes - no miles here .. have never really taken off, but Honda is smart and they don't build too many, these are more of a "Left Coast" vehicle .. trade side, the high $16's, "maybe" the low low $17's depending on the dealer ..

btw, I took it over the weekend to Carmax and they offered $18,500. (that's $1000 higher than the honda dealer said they would pay.) so, it seems to me that a honda dealer could pay $19K if I buy a new one from them. hmmmmm....
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... It ALL depends on the condition .. miles are kinda ok for the year ..

If it's deep in rubber, no AK47 holes, no re-paints, no I got in a fight with a 75 yr ol' lady at Lowes and she ran her cart into me 5 times, clean interior, looks/drives like 30k .. then trade side, in and around the low low $3's .. down Retail Rd, nice Ad, great clean-up, service is okee dokee, ~ $5,499 in the paper and cut that dude loose for $4,0/$5,0 .. that handshaker is going to kill this one ...

    >>>> It does seem that KBB is the 'default standard' .. <<

You gotta read all the stuff that gets printed on these posts .. in this "Particular case", yes ..<< <<

Terry, Sorry - I didn't mean to imply that you said that KBB was the 'standard' (and I did read your reply).
I was making a statement based on my recent experience where numerous potential buyers have been quoting KBB and don't seem to care about any other source. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Obviously there will be variations from source to source. It appears that in some cases the variations are larger than others. When that occurs it is difficult to know what the market value really should be.
This makes boards like this a great source for additional information from people like yourself that can provide a real world perspective.

    Thanks again.

My company is buying me a car (Camry, Accord, or Altima), and I am looking to sell this car. Details:
    - Kansas City area
    - 26,000 miles (all mine)
    - Silver
    - AT, CC, PW, PL, stereo upgrade. No alloys, power seats, leather or moonroof.
    - Interior/exterior good condition, all maintenance current.

My wife is driving a 2002 Camry LE, and over the weekend she suggested we sell both the Toyotas and get her something "fun" like a G35 coupe (her dream car). Personally, I would be more interested in a MDX, Pilot or Pacifica. Details on the Camry are:
    - 14,000 miles
    - Silver
    - ABS, stereo upgrade (no CD changer), & power drivers seat are only options.
    - Interior/exterior in good condition. All maintenance current.

I am inclined to sell both myself. What might I expect for both vehicles (individually)? Also, how likely would a dealer be willing to take both cars as a trade for 1? I probably know the answer to this one, but if I do trade 2 for 1, would there be any advantages or disadvantages? Thanks.

A co-worker of mine has these on his suburban. He woke up Wednesday to find his vehicle sitting on blocks. The unreal part: His insurance company gave him a check on Friday for $3150, no questions asked.

My credit union is having their annual car sale and my mom saw a 2003 Nissan Maxima SE that she liked. We weren't able to get inside of it because it was locked and on display but we did get a chance to peek inside. It looked like a basic SE model with no options except a sunroof and rear spoiler. How much do you think it should go for. There wasn't a price on the car. We couldn't see the miles but it should be somewhere 15-20,000. It's in Farmington Hills, Michigan I hope that I didn't leave anything out.

    Thanks!

I'm sure Terry will give you the exact dope on your specific vehicle when he has a chance. In the mean time here is some quick feedback to put you in the ballpark. I got this info from Terry back on June 7th.
    --------------------------------
    ...... Mazda's - zoom zoom ..

02 MPV LX/ES's, with 20/25k are doing "around" the $15/$16ish range .. I gotta think you can see one for the $18/$19 range or less in your driveway ...
                           Terry.
    --------------------------------

I'm thinking an '01 is going to be at least $2K behind these figures what with the major upgrades they did to the MPV in '02.

....... Aaaaall righty then, now thats a description ..! thanks ..!

For starters, we got some Major Miles going on here .. color is good, no leather, but we have a slider, spoiler and such .. they can't much more than $16 in it, add a this and that and ~ maybe ~ $17,0 (ouch) .. it's a hi miler, no one is going to beat down their doors on this one, not when they can go down the street and buy a 10/15ker with leather and Bose for a little more .. I dunno my friend, if I were you, and I was them, $17,9ish would make that Max dissapear in a NY second ...

                          Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
    ....... Good description, thanks ... !

Miles are good, it's an LX, good color for my boy George W., not getting any help on that 2WD, dealer might have the high $12's, low $13's in it .. a fair price on the Road of Retail would be $15ish ..

By the way, I need to get a new crystal ball .. I mixed it up with my bowling ball the other night and it kinda desinergrated, but one heck of a strike .. !

               >but I am tempted to leave something out just for the fun of reading your reply<< ..

Oooh, you should be on this side when I wanna choke somebody .. :)

Thanks again, Terry. That confirms what I suspected and I am doing a 'happy dance' since I just bought this car from someone where I work for $10,3. It was a once in a lifetime event - he wanted to sell fast(going to Europe), had some corporate incentive $, etc. and it just happened to be a vehicle I was considering - even the right color. Timing was perfect.

Now, if I could just sell that Accord....

    >>Oooh, you should be on this side when I wanna choke somebody .. :)<<

I'd really like to see that. Perhaps a webcam and pay-per-view?
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
.... Actually my g/f does all that webcam and pay-per-view stuff .l.o.l..

Wow, you stole that puppy .. I mean Flat stole it, I'm gonna call a cop .. it's ok, drive it for a year or so and sell it, Or - if I were you, I would have any service done, a Great detail, a Great ad and I would be dropping that dude into someone elses driveway for the $15,0 range, that's a tidy profit and go into something else .. :)

See, even a blind squirrel can find a nut .! - Enjoy.

    ..... Ok, it's the wagon, right ..?

No slider, no leather, 15k, color is ho-hum .. these are doing pretty well in the market right now - trade side, the high $8's low $9's if it's clean, no road rash, no Smuckers jelly stuck to the roof ..

                              Terry.

                      MILES ............???

                             MILES ....???????????

                                 MILES ............?

                            Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... Great color for the area, ES, miles are low, tires are weak, hot and cold running air, (good description, thanks) .. trade side, the mid to high $13's, might "could" "maybe" see $14,0 depending on the dealer ..

                           Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... I see your from AL, I almost bought a store in Huntsville (thank goodness) .. it's thee right time of the year, they still do stupid money and it's the right color .. the negatives: it's been hit and the miles are a little tall, tire doesn't help ...

Trade side, in and around the high $13's, maybe the low low $14's, it's really going to depend on who shot the Yota, was it JoeBob's Bait Tackle and Body Shop - or was it Picasso ...

are you from SF or Bama' ..?

....... Right now, loaded up 03 - 530's with 5/9k are doing "around" $39ish .. 01's, with miles in the 20's are doing "around" $29ish..

It's going to be a Very interesting 6/9 months for the "5" series .. the 04 is going to be here in a few weeks, it has a Grand Am grill, idrive and the barrel butt. BMW isn't doing much with the new "7" (actually it's about a $25,000 hit the first year *OUCH.!), how the new "5" does might make the current 5's keep the market steady .. I dunno, will have to see.

                            Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... The miles are low for the year, it's the right color, clean history and it's an Acura .. dealer probably has almost $13 in it .. $15 ..? I dunno, if it's deep in rubber, clean, needs -0- try it out at $14 and see what happens, but nice, low milers are hard to find and $15,0 might be the fair price ..

                                Terry.

Terry - As I said it was a 'once in a lifetime' event. I gave this guy every chance to set the price correctly. He did get $2K from the company as part of the relo package to sell the car but he decided to pass that on (Where I would have tried to keep as much as possible). He also did check KBB, but understated the condition IMO, and thinks "nobody ever gets book value".

He also had a lot going on and didn't want to deal with selling the car. A problem I am starting to appreciate more and more as I now am working hard to sell my Accord. Man, some people just can't make up their mind...starting to drive me nutty.

...... Hey let's not go into a guilt thing here .. I'm sure he was Very Aware of the situation, plus he got $2grand to cover his potential loss (thats darn good on his side) so you Both made out ..

Now you see what I go thru .l.o.l. the craziest thing is, when the parents bring their 16/17 yr old, just graduated from HS and the little darlin' doesn't like the color of their first vehicle - (that the parents are paying $10 large for) -- "Ooh, don't you have it in any other colors .?" - *Hey kid, you only graduated High School, not 5 years at Cornell .. :))

    Hi...
I'm looking to trade in my 2002 Nissan XTerra SE (supercharged) and am concerned about what I'm seeing as far as trade in values go.

    Condition:
Excellent condition on inside and out (only problem is a small chip in the front windshield near the passenger side from a rock - less than a 1/2 inch in length).

    Color:
      Black

    Options:
      Sun roof

    Mileage:
      25,000

    Thanks!

    2001 BMW 530 - CPO
35K miles silver on black leather
auto, slider, xenon winkers, smarty pants, james bond auto rear sunshade, airbags all over the place, alloys with new shoes

    In sunny New Orleans.

Internet dealer (haven't seen it in person) says he would "look hard" at 30,500.

Have you dealt much with the BMW CPO?

I have a 1993 BMW 325I sedan that I am thinking about trading in. I'd like to know what you think I can get out of it.
The car is red, with tan leather, heated seats, ac, cruise, am/fm, power sunroof, auto, pw, 90k miles. The exterior is great, a few chips in the hood, but otherwise perfect. The car has never been wrecked, or repainted. Proper maintenance has definately been done.
I was also wondering if the fact that I have replaced many things on the car hurts or helps or doesn't make any difference. For instance, I have replaced a window regulator, a brake caliper, the front ball joints, the clutch fan, and a plug for the radiator. Our local BMW dealer has done all of the repairs except for the window regulator and the clutch fan. I live in Springfield, Missouri if you need region for the trade in. Thank you very much!

Reading your comments on this makes me wonder, Terry, has there ever been a time where a newer model starts hitting auctions and actually does worse than the previous model? Like if, in 6 months, let's say, the '03 5-series are getting more money than the '04s? Not asking for predictions, just curious if this has ever happened in the past with another vehicle.

    Hi Terry,

I'm trying to help my parents trade in their 1996 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. It is dark blue with leather interior. The car looks amazing, glossy paint, shiny wheels, clean....Miles are low, 71,000. The dealership we went to over the weekend only offered $5500 as a trade in. Does this seem fair. The salesperson originally said between $5500 and $6500, but then came back with $5500 of course. He said his manager was making calls trying to get the best price for us, but that the best he got "so far" was $5500. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Terry - need some ideas here.

    I have a 98 Accord EX 4 dr
    Auto
Color is Heather Mist (somewhere between gold and silver)
    65,000 miles
leather, power seat - all the usual EX goodies
    Tires about 70%
Couple of tiny dings and some minor rim rash
    In Boston
Full Honda dealer serviced as per the severe schedule

Here's the kicker - it's in the bodyshop now with an appx $5K repair almost done. When it's done it will have new:

    front bumper and fascia
    front supports
    radiator
    fan
    AC condensor
    exhaust
    gas tank.

What do you think it was worth before hand and how bad am I going to get killed at trade in time? It's at a quality shop but a hit is a hit to a used car guy right??
