......... Good morning .. it's a 99 EX Hooonda Ody, we have the cloth, miles a semi-high, we probably need some new sneakers, it's a good color anywhere and we have the service part going on ...
Finally the Ody's are getting plentiful, if it's a real nice one, no science experiments, no re-paints .. then trade side, in and around the high $9's, low $10's, might "could" maybe do a little more in the Milwaukee area, they do have a soft spot for their imports ....
Still car hunting for used car (gave up SUV idea) up to $10k and I came accross this one for sale by private owner. It has 90k miles which kinda scares me, but the asking price is just $4500. This one is forest green, tan leather, CD, alarm, located here in scenic Miami-Ft. Lauderdale area. I'm thinking about taking it to a mechanic but first, is this a good enough price for high miles or if not what is?
I called one seller who had just sold a '99 Millenia S with 77k miles, also green w/ tan leather, for $8400. Granted it's the S version and 2 years newer, but the miles are kinda high too. Makes the one for $4500 look attractive...comments?
........ Your better off in the "L" than the "S" .. price seems a little on the low side, maybe offered $2,5/$3,0ish on the trade side and decided to sell it down Retail Rd ..
Good vehicles, just have it checked out for the service history, 97/99's had a tendency to lose the og sensors at 75kish, other than that probably not a bad purchase, if everything is right ....
What kind of trade-in can I expect to get on a 2003 Acura RSX, auto, cloth, white, 11,600mi. Would be most likely trading in to a Honda dealer. I'm in central NJ. Any help would be great!
Re #17473, the 2000 Expedition XLT in Indy - armed with a realistic estimate, I had the car detailed and took it in for the appraisal. He asked me what I needed to get out of it and I told him $13.5 (a little higher than your feedback, but not out of the ballpark) - lo & behold they gave me the 13.5 on a trade for a 2004 Sequoia - and 500 over invoice on the new one. Thanks so much for the real world feedback! Kirby
A colleague and friend at work had a '98 Mazda S with the Miller cycle engine. Good car overall, but small things led him to get rid of it a couple of years ago (at 75K miles): oil leak due to head gasket problem, and car needed a new radiator. Traded it in for a '99 BMW 528i.
I'm looking to trade in/sell my '97 Subaru Outback Wagon and lease a new car. I am the original owner - first leased than purchased. The car had been in a pretty serious accident ($8k in damages) shortly after I bought it, but was fixed to almost good as new. Here are the details of the vehicle: 97 Outback Wagon 99k miles air conditioning PW/PD/PM cold weather package premium sound - replaced head unit with MP3 player minor paint chips rear bumper has 'missing paint' from getting rear ended (a Dodge Daytona tried to drive under me), but bumper is intact no major paint or body defects engine is okay but may beed some work down the road. Interior is pretty clean and will be detailed inside and out.
Now that the two weeks of winter in SoCal are coming to a close, what do you think this would be worth in trade or sale? Obviously, this would probably go to auction and won't get great money - KBB guesstimates about $4,1xx to $4,5xx.
Any thoughts on this car, only 69,000 miles, leather, Nardi accents, chrome rims, hard and soft top, hard top comes off as a single piece, manual 5-speed, speakers in headrest, montego blue paint, no structural damage, very good shape, maintained by the book, etc.

...... In the city of Lost Wages .. miles are low low low, paint better be nice nice nice, rubber better be deep deep deep ...
It's a "M" with dual toppers, if the paint is not faded, looks and feels like an 02, no casino kisses, seats look hovered in and all the service .. then trade side, in and around the ultra high $3's, low $4 range ...
Me personally, this would be going right down Retail Rd .. great Ad, super detail, $7,900 *asking* and off it goes to one of the Show Girls for $6,5/$7,5 .. this should last about 2 days in the land of glitter.
I figured as much as the dealer I spoke with on a trade offered me $3,500 after insulting me with $2,500. I told him for that I would keep and it just sell it on my own. Autotrader.com here I come!
Sorry I didn't double post but could you give me any help on the 97 Outback? I did forget to mention was that it's an automatic as not too many manuals were produced, so it slipped my mind - something easy to do. The car is White ext/grey int. Thanks again.
........ 03 RSX, with 11k, color is good, we have that auto type thing going for ya .. if it's a CLEAN one, no Mall mayhem, no paint by numbers .. trade side, in and around the mid to high $15's, maybe-might-could see $16,0 with right dealer, the right prayers and the right connections ......
Why ya selling it .? .. no no let me guess, it's a 2 door and can't get the briefcase in and out, or maybe we have kids and thats a in and out pain ...
Looking at a 2003 4runner limited (Indiana). Vehicle has 13300 miles and is cpo. Silver over gray leather. v8 5 speed auto. Has moonroof, towing pkg, rear spoiler, jbl with cd changer. No navigation system. Asking 34 large. Seems high to me. What do you think these do at auction, and are worth retail?
Just got a call from my friend with the 2002 Q45. The Lex dealer offered him $35K as trade-in (you nailed that one, again) towards a $42K '04 GS300 (with ML/Nav combo). He wants one without Nav, and is willing to do a deal for a straight-up exchange of his 02 Q45 for the GS, plus TTL. Do you think he's got a shot ?
He really hates selling it by himself. Besides who wants to shell out $38 large ones for a used Infiniti ? Not many, I am afraid, so he figures his best bet is trading it in.
Basically it was the right car last year but it's not going to be for long. Unfortunately, despite all the research and time I took deciding what to get, I still couldn't forsee 5 or so years down the road...which I have a better idea of now. I have 3-4 more years of payments right now and that's fine, I just would rather that be for something that I'm going to keep for a while after it's paid off.
And no kids yet....but a new puppy and new bicycle may be on the way soon! : )
Man thats not an accident, it's the sinking of the Titanic .. 100k, missing paint, Subu's are pretty strong, but their not bulletproof .. if you can see the $4's on a trade, then bless you my son ...
Well, well...saw 97 Millenia L in person today...needs tires and brakes, transmission didn't shift all that smoothly, possible accident front driver quarter panel, dirty interior. Hey, I don't expect a used car to have zero defects but...
Funny someone mentioned Millenia S because there are a couple for sale.
1. 1998 S, 70k miles., black w/tan leather, asking $8000.
Be VERY careful. These are a nightmare to work on. I know the Mazda guys hate them for that reason. That is one tiny V-6 but the non "S" ones still seem to have adequate power.
Maybe you can help me ... I'm wondering what the trade-in value for a 97 Eclipse Spyder Convertable is. Here's some specs:
80000 miles Red Leather interior
Issues: Needs new clutch A pencil sized hole in the driver's seat Overall good paint ... Key scratch in back of car. One or two door dings. Convertable Top cracking around rear glass window.
I'm thinking about selling my Jetta. I like it, it has been a great car, but I really miss having a pickup truck. What is a fair asking price for a 2003 VW Jetta Wagon GLS TDI, 5 spd. manual transmission, leather, monsoon, and heated seats & mirror in baltic green, with about 19k miles. It is in great shape because it is only 1 year old. I have looked at several places for comparison, but there aren't enough of them to really get a good idea. There are lots of Jettas, and lots of TDI's for sale, but few if any TDI wagons. When I bought it I had to go through a lot of hoops because several dealers told me "there are only 7 on the whole east coast", so obviously there are not that many coming up for sale. Any advice that you can give me will be greatly apreciated.

You really should try and read the early responses to your posting before reposting the same less than informative information again.
I'm with driftracer, it does not look good. It is going to take $3000 in repairs and detail work just to get it ready for retail road on any reputable dealers lot. All that for a car that might do $5900 retail (out the door) and only in the right market area this Spring. That leaves in and around a $1500 actual cash value for trade in.
Car: '98 Buick Park Ave Ultra with 124k miles in Massachusettes Terry's guess: In the $3's, if I'm lucky. Actual: $2500.
OUCH!!!!! We gave it to a family member instead. It was worth more to them as barter than it was for the trade-in at the dealership. Lovin' my new 2004 GMC Sierra Xcab SLT!
Ha, a friend just pointed something out to me... By "OUCH", I mean "OUCH, I can't believe that I paid $20k for this thing 3 years ago, and now I'm only getting $2500 for it!" I thought I was going to get about $5000 (and so did kbb.com), so Terry's guess was pretty much dead-on! Thanks again!
....... 03 Limited with no miles, we have the 4x4 V8, slider, good color and all the extra junk, plus the cpo ..
Depending on how long the dealer has had it, he probably has the ultra high $29's, low $30ish figure in it, probably see that or more at the auction, maybe .. these certainly aren't distressed merchandise, so I'm thinkin' $33ish and change on the retail side ...
......... The 98 "S" is maybe worth in and around the $5ish range on trade .. down Retail Rd $7,900 would be a good *asking* price, $6,5/$6,9 sends it packing if it's a nice one .. the 99 is maybe worth a Grand more ... gotta be nice, with ALL the service.
My friggin browser kept sending the same response ... weird. I was able to delete the others in time.
By the way, I don't think it's cool that you'd call me "clueless". It's obvious that I didn't mean to send the same post twice. Sorry.
Anyway, thanks for the help. I was so pumped that I might get a real person to give me a little insight that I fired my post off without really checking that I gave all the pertinent information.
It's a GS-T. No accidents. Parked in my garage, in Dallas, Texas. I'm not sure there were any other options available on the car when it was bought. I guess a CD player, keyless entry, power windows and locks would be about it.
I'm realistic here, I think. I was hoping for $2,000, but I know that would take some real luck.
I think my dad should have traded the Ram when he had a chance. He had it out of the body shop 14 days and rolled it today on his way to town. I saw it not long after it happened. Banged up the driver's side from front to back, not sure about engine damage since the truck was upside down for a couple hours (not running), other than that its not too bad.......except for the coffee all over the interior. Probably between $5k-$7k (could me more if there's damage I didn't see after the wrecker pulled it over onto its wheels) in damage.
And the battle of the red rams continues........
My Dad's 2001 Ram 2500 cummins - 2 wrecks My Hubby's 1999 Ram 3500 V10 - 2 wrecks
My dad has the edge for total damage.
I really wish they would quit it, I spend more time at the body shop then at home because of them.
But we have to realize that a car with a serious defect, i.e. bad clutch, plus other things are going to kill trade in value. I just find it funny that people will want trade in a car with clear significant defects and mechanical problems. People, not just you, are clueless to realize just how much mechanical problems will kill trade in value.
Have you shopped around for estimates to get the worst stuff fixed on the car? Clutch, buff/fill in the scratch, patch the hole in the seat. Spring is here/just around the corner and rag tops will move. I've seen late 1980's Chryslers bring $3000 that were in good condition.
It is an easy $5000 car at retail if the clutch were fixed, leather patch on the hole, big scratch fixed as long as the top is serviceable (no leaks). At discount repair prices you could put $1000 into the car to ask $6500.
I'm at present looking forward to buying Mazda 3. what should I expect for my used car ? I've 2001 Nissan Altima GXE Auto with 76,800 miles on it. It is limited edition car with power seat, A/C, Keyless Entry, Power door, window & locks, Cruise control, Premium Kenwood Deck (MP3, CD & Cassette player). Car is dark green color and in clean condition (no major mechanical or visual defects). Color is still shineing and might need a bit of detailing. I've done all major services (7500, 15000, 30000) and regular oil changes at 3500 miles.
As per Edmunds.com trade-in value for this vehicle is 6700. I've tried couple of dealers and all of them are offering only 5K. What should I do ? Should I sell it myself or trade-in ?
Issues: Needs new clutch A pencil sized hole in the driver's seat Overall good paint ... Key scratch in back of car. One or two door dings. Convertible Top cracking around rear glass window.

..... Well, what can I say.? .. clutches are cheap, it's the drop top I would be worried about .. thats a $600/$700 deal if it's 5 minutes away from a big rip/leak, and that will be found the first time it goes down .. miles are tall for the turbo, folks get a little "hinky" when you start saying that word tur-booo .. trade side, in and around the $3ish figure .. down Retail Rd, great detail, super service with the clutch, maybe the top(?) $5,900 *asking* and wave goodbye at the first $4,9/$5,5 ....
Me either, between the 2 of them I spend a ton of time on the road either rescueing them or taking them to the body shop.

........ Like the Yota's and the Honda's, Nissans are good vehicles .. so the problem isn't the 76,000 miles, the problem is: it's an "01" with 76,000 miles (almost 80k) .. to most folks that vehicle is only two years old and they get a little whacked at the high miles, can't blame em', cuz' they can buy a 01 with 25/35k for $9,900 or less, so which one would you buy.?
$5,000 does seem a little on the short side (also I don't have your location) .. but if I was lookin' at it: that dude better be deep in rubber, no I bounced off the parking curb at Universal Studios and my brother did the paint work, interior looks great and it "shows and goes" just like 25k, I don't wanna be putting in $150 in a high miler .. that being said, it's worth in and around the high $5's low low $6's trade side ... now, down Retail Rd - deep sneakers, super mop and glow, fantastic ad, all the service records on the front seat and no excuses, *asking* $7,900 and grab the first $6,9/$7,5 and have a nice day ...
