If I remember correctly your kind of tall and lanky, so check the size of the TL .. it's a GREAT vehicle for the $$, it's a great vehicle for $5grand more as far as I'm concerned, that and the G35 .. I think the BMW Boys are getting a little nervous ....... especially with that "new" (cough) look ...
Terry.
Oh - the wifes new van will be a 2004, not 2003 - typo. :-)
Q
My husband's truck is a 1999 Dodge Ram 3500 that we bought in November, only had 11,300 miles on it, has about 18k on it now.
Guess not everyone in Alaska drives as much as I do.......that's why I bought a base model explodeder, figure I'm just going to mile it up, don't need to spend $$$ on all the fancy stuff.
Now, I'd like a more specific apprasial....I found a black/black FX35 with RWD here in Houston with 8k miles, haven't seen it in person, but the pix looked good, has premium and sport packages. Whatcha say its worth?
Edmunds.com pricing report shows $9K trade-in, 10K private party and $11.7K retail for 22K miles car. These are from a rental fleet (ran 1 VIN thru Carfax and found that it was a rental vehicle in CA)
Website does not indicate that these are certified pre-owned. If they do offer a separate extended warranty is it worth it and upto what mileage and price (100K?)?
Any knowledgeable think I can do better than $10K (exclduing TTL). I plan to visit them next week. My first post and I hope I am in the right place.
Thanks.
Local dealers are getting the 04 SES with 20K-30K and advertising them for $11,900 already.
No, I don't think you can do much better than 10K. But you might be able to get the dealer to include the extended warranty for the asking price. Be wary of other backdoor add-ons to your deal.
MAN OH MAN do these depreciate which is a good thing for the people who like them!
Seriously, a great buy.
Sure glad that doesn't happen with Hondas!
If I get my own financing, what other backdoor add-ons can they indulge in? If the TTL does not look right I will walk.
Thanks.
One leasing company that I am dealing with is letting '02 Taurus SE (45-55k miles)go between $5-5.5k.
Looking to see if you could give me your thoughts on a 2002 Grand Am GT 4 door located in Westland, Michigan. Garage kept. It's black with 29,000 miles on it. I have the power moonroof, monsoon stereo, and torqued chrometech wheels. Never been in an accident. Interior is in good shape, no door dings or french fry attacks. There's a few rock nicks in the hood from the glorious Michigan Roads.
I've done minor mods to it. I have red vinyl reflective overlays on the badges and a set of cleared taillights with red LED brake lights. These could be removed to go back to stock.
Tires are original RSA-s. Rear set are a bit worn, front set are pretty good.
Would be happy if you could give me trade-in and private sale pricing on it.
The "boys in the band" are trying to help, but before you go flying off half-cocked, here's how this all works .. for Starters, the miles predicate the price, the higher the miles, the lower the price, the lower the miles the higher the price - it's called a "lost leader Ad" - at $10,835 I have a feeling thats going to be one with 28/30k ..
Second, on rental vehicles the company buys in HUGE bulk 2,0/3,000 at a shot and they get a "delete" option, which means they might not have cd's and probably have the FFV Vulcan V6 and not the Duratec, probably not the wheels, maybe not the split rear seat, maybe no abs, no console, stuff like that - this doesn't make them bad, it makes them what they are: high mileage rental cars ..
On these types with 27/30k the dealer probably paid the low low low $9's, so by the time they pay the auction fee, transport, service, detail and pack, they probably hit the table at "in and around" the low low low $10's .. and thats where you will see an Ad price of $10,8ish, is there room for a 100k warranty.? - not from where I'm sitting, but I'm not there ... and, there's going to be a big difference in price between 29k "base" 03 SES with a Vulcan, than a regular 03 SES with a Duratec V6 with 11k ...... just thought I would let ya know so you don't drive yourself crazy ..

A 9 month old "anything" with 25/30k will take a beating .. the dealers are paying in and around the $11,0 figure for the 04 SES's .. the point is, if your going to post, put down ALL the facts so folks understand the whole picture ..
For example, 04 Porsche "S" Cayenne's with 2/4/6k are doing in and around the $52/$55 figure, pile up 25k and they are doing the $39/$41 zipcode, so if I wanted calls from every Cayenne buyer on the planet I would be advertising that pup for $46,900 when everyone else would be at $65,900 ....

Last night we leased a 2004 Odyssey EX with factory DVD system for $330 per month for 24 months with $330 due at signing. We are going to keep the Accord. We can take the money we would lose by selling the Accord so soon and pay for the Ody. Might still sell the 94 LS400 if my husband can ever decide to part with it.
So for now we are a 4 car family again. 3 brand new Hondas + an old Lexus. We should definitely qualify for some type of owner loyalty from Honda by now .....
I'm kinda the last person to ask, I have to see a vehicle 15/20+ times in different light, different colors, different views .. at first, I didn't like the grille work and I wasn't crazy about the "stance" of the vehicle or the overall color choice from the factory ..
But 3 months later and having a chance to see it in different colors, seeing it going and coming, seeing it at 5:30 in the afternoon and 11am, then seeing it in the shadows and in the shade of the 2pm sun it's starting to grow on me .. plus, last week I drove one with a $36,0 MSRP with the Hemi motor (and the 3.5) with all the toys and put about 150 miles on it ..
Actually, I was kinda impressed. It runs on rails, it's super quiet, it corners like a snake, the dash and all the gauges are easy and comfortable to read, seats are super nice and it handles more like a quick mid-size sport type sedan, which surprised me for a 4,000lb+ bomber .. they might be on to something here, plus it has the E Class MB underpinnings, which means nothing to me if it's getting the job done, hey at $36 for the loaded up one and $29 for one with less popcorn, this might be a winner .. but I need to see a bunch out with 15/25k, then I can make a real decision ..........
Terry.
I guess you can't use the excuse "my car broke down" and that's why you can't make it to the High School reunion ..........
Terry.
So we have a 2002 Grand Slam GT with all 4drs .. color is good for the area, miles are almost on the low side, Auto (?), needs new rubber and we have strong sound ...
For starters, kick-off all of the hinky "Fast and Furballs" stuff - you might like it , but most don't and they might get the idea of some drug induced after work recreation, plus it can knock the *%^# out of the value ... trade side, in and around the ultra high $9's low $10's .. down Retail Rd, (with a great Ad and a super duper detail) $12,900 *asking* and wave goodbye at the first "real deal" $11,5/$12,5 ...
Let me know how it goes ....!

The early bird catches the worm ... but the patient one gets it for less.
1985 Chevy Camaro IROC-Z28, Bright Red, T-Tops, automatic, black cloth interior, looks very clean, with a clean carfax posted in the window, only 33,900 miles, decent tires. 5.0 liter TPI engine (I don't think the 5.7 was put into the IROC until 88 or 89). The paint looks very good, but I couldn't tell if it's been repainted. No visible rust. Newburgh NY area. Asking $6900. What do you think? Thanks in advance.
"The early bird catches the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese"
2001 Buick Century Custom, 29K miles, AM/FM/cass/CD, lease return from local area. According to Carfax, its been on the lot for two months. I walk by the lot almost every weekend, and I think that's about right.
2003 Olds Alero, 31K miles, ABS, AM/FM/CD ex-rental car from FL.
What can I expect to pay in the Columbia, SC area and what would the dealer have in them.
Thanks,
Turboshadow
Looks clean, power windows/doors; no roof, cheap wheels, tires half gone. Asking $5,400 on local used lot.
Thanks as always,
-Mathias
The only good point is the 5 speed, not that it overcomes the other flaws.
i hate stripper model cars. They just feel cheesy.
On the bright side, you could leave it unlocked with the keys in it, and no one would steal it.

2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.
The only reason I'm wondering what it might be worth is the stick. I don't drive much -- 8k/year -- and the car is almost done depreciating. But it may be a dog to drive, I dunno.
At $5, the question is moot anyway... I'm just curious. -m
In Massachusetts; A black 03 Accord with 4 cyl Automatic, EX (power everything & moonroof, leather) Navigation and 25K miles.

Thanks for your help.

I have a "friend" who is a used car sales manager at an Acura dealership looking for a Burb for me now. Your point about how to read the Black Book data is well taken. For me, the numbers help establish a range of what they are worth. Can you offer some more advice as to weather Burbs are going above, below, sideways of book (Black) or ??? I figured paying about 1k over auction/trade in seemed like a good deal for everyone. What do you think?
Ed
This is broad brush stroke, but this will give you an idea .. 01 LT's, leather, maybe a tow package, 4wd, slider, quads, Clean and miles in the 25kish range are doing in and around the $24ish range, which is out of the book, but clean Burbs are always strong in the market with low miles and loaded up with all the stuff .. but there like water and they seek their own level, 03's are doing "around" the $29ish figure with miles in the teens ....
Let me know how it goes .!

An Acura for an 18 year old.? gosh, my first car was a 59 4dr Plymouth with the "push button" automatic, white with a turgouise bottom for $50 bucks ~ what a looker that was .l.o.l...
He is asking $11,000 ~ thats a great price .............. if you live in Romania.
Dealer probably hit it at the mid to high $6's, he might have rolled over the $7,0 figure to make a deal, then the customer goes nut's after he reads too many books and uses the highest figure of $11,0 and then curses the dealer for being a Commie %#*$@*% ..
Anyway, let's say $7,500 on the dealer side and $9,5 would be almost a fair price and $9,900 would be the EOW (End of the World) .. $11,000 .??!!??
Acura's are Great vehicles and will run forever properly serviced, but the CL's had a "identity" problem and were hard to sell, and still are ... $11,000 .??!!?? - did I mention I have this 100k 98 2dr Cavalier that I will sell you for a mere $5,000 - it's like new - I promise ........................
Terry.
Leo
$6,900 is a Very Fair price .. I have seen *clean ones* with 35k do almost $5 big ones at the auctions, and I have also seen them do as low as $3,5 with 90k, so there kinda all over the place and depending on where you live, this time of the year will bring them out of their garages ....

My parents bought one and I ended up with it after they got done with it! It was a beautiful sky blue color. I could ride my bike faster than that thing.
If not for Dads, Ford would have been out of business in the '80s.

Also, are you seeing that the more fuel efficient vehicles are holding their value stronger and longer than before, and that less fuel efficient vehicles are depreciating more quickly?
Since you see so many vehicles each week/month at your dealerships and at auctions, I think it would be interesting to get your take on how the auto markets are being affected by changing gas prices. Thanks!

The first car my husband bought on payments was an 86 Tempo, to this day he says how much he hated that car.
My first car was a 1990 Nissan Stanza XE.....an ex Avis rental car.
My issue was that they were relatively expensive to service.
It's basically a fully loaded auto 2002 FX4 4x4 SuperCrew except for leather. Power moonroof, 6 disk CD changer, power adjustable pedals, 5.4 V8, towing package, tonneau cover, dark red two tone paint, captain chairs, sliding rear window.
Tires look in pretty good shape. Only 19,500 miles on it. Interior and exterior looks great.
She's getting me the buyout information tomorrow, but just curious what you think a decent price would be for this truck in the used market as if it was a private party deal.
Thanks for #'s on the acura CL. By the way times have changed. My first car was a 1963 falcon that was 17 years old and i payed $150 for it : of my own hard earned cash . I'll let you know how the negotiations go on the acura. thanks ....dweller
