Your are close, depending on the real deal figures .. even for an extra $10/$15 bucks a month don't loose the vehicle you want, you know what they say:
"the Lord hates a coward" ..
Good luck and DON'T forget to let me know .......
Terry.
Terry,
Thanks for the info.
Dealer came at me with $12,4 for my trade and wouldn't budge on Taco price. Said $15,9 was special internet price and truck was normally selling for $16,9. Even after some back and forth, including me leaving and getting called back later by salesman, they still wouldn't move to where I needed to be.
Their taxes and fees were considerably more than your estimate. Doc fee alone was $398. TBF was going to be $18,5, which is out of my range.
It was a great truck with some nice extras such as the spray-in bed liner, bed extender, and tow hitch, but just too much $$.
I'm still looking. The right deal is out there, I've just got to wait for it to appear.
Thanks again,
Todd

I think I will tomorrow, 03 Alero is first choice, 99 Intrigue the second choice.
Along those lines.....I'm putting on my Nomex underwear and flameproof suit.
Be kind, I love this car, but I AM a realist, so...
91 Dodge Shadow ES
Turbo 2.5/ 523 5-spd (strong running car, very strong engine, did 100 mile/day commute for the past year)
Miles???? (odometer brokje at 91K, I'd guess 110K on it now)
Crappy paint
Interior fought gallantly against the Taliban, but the Taliban won
AC dead
Heat defunct
PW (one of them works! luckily driver's side)
PDL (works most of the time)
Air bag indicator lit, but taped over (previous owner)
I did plug two tires today and put 5 bucks of gas in it (should double the value)
Turboshadow (who may soon have to get a new screen name)

I'm thinking of buying a 2004 Ford F 150 Heritage 4x4 truck new from the dealer. It has 6 cylinders, LB, auto, A/C, CC, Tilt, and SRW. A dealer gave me a price of $18,100 includes taxes, destination charge and all rebates. Would this be a reasonable price?
You're response is appreciated

Can you please comment on wheather this is a good/average deal? Anything I need to check on before proceeding with the purchase. The ad is posted by an individual and not a dealer. Also, this is a LEASED vehicle from a local BMW dealership and NOT a purchased/owned vehicle. Any pitfalls I should be aware of in buying a leased vehicle and NOT an owned vehicle?
Also, I have been quoted a price of about $37K for a similar vehicle, with same options, about 8K miles from a local dealership. However this is a DEMO vehicle but the dealer is willing to throw in a 100K miles extended warranty valid till 2009.
Does the extended warranty makes the demo vehicle more attractive?
Any tips/pointers would be appreciated.
thanks,
p
That being said, I have read how folks are buying Benz's for $5grand back, new TL's for $500 losers (can't keep them in stock) RX330's (probably the biggest year they will have) for a $1,500 loss, it goes on and on .. like someone had mentioned, you
"Reeeally" have to take that info with a HUGE grain of salt .l.o.l..
Also keep in mind the 2 biggest things that folks lie about is: what they pay for their homes - and what they pay for their vehicles ... my own friggin' neighbors lie to me about their Aunts purchase on her 04 Camry XLE, they told me the dealer took a $1,500 loss in Pittsburg and gave them Retail $$ for her 97 V6 Camry XLE with 65k (nice car, I have seen it) so when she got here, I said: "let's look at the paper work" ..
He traded her for a $20,000 *difference* .l.o.l. let's see here: MSRP was just a tinge over $25,0 ~ her car was worth $5 big ones and the dealer kept the $500 kicker, hmm this is a tuff one, so the dealer made $3 large on her ~ God bless him ... but if you ask them, they will ALWAYS say: the dealer lost $1,500 just to get her business (no matter what the contract says) there probably posting on Edmund's as we speak ................

Thanks... actually that was better than I thought (I owe 11K and thought I was going to be upside down).
I actually went ahead and ordered the boat (2004 Four Winns 22' Horizon). I have no patience and need to do something other than just drive the truck
Still not sure if I should just payoff the truck and see if she lasts to 200K miles or start fresh.
ill put it this way...you can only do better if you are a ford employee.

Would someone tell me how to get a new mazda3 s at invoice or less?
THANKS,

Thanks.
Could you please advise on trade-in value on:
- Mitsubishi 3000GT 2Dr STD Hatchback
- Mileage 108000
- Condition - Good
Location - VA, Reston
Year - 1997
Color - Black
Transmission - manual
Options - standard equipment (no leather)
Dents, dings, scratches, curbed wheels outside - none
Rips, tears, stains, etc. inside - normal wear
Any bodywork that was done - three years ago was small accident, they replaced right front panel.
Running condition - runs very well
Condition of tires - replaced recently

The Edmunds shows about $5,400 as tradein value. Some dealers say $3,500 (without even looking). I am confused with such big difference.
Help! Thanks!

No catch I can see other than disclaimer: "All advertised vehicles must be paid in full same day" and their simple math skills are absolutly atrocious!!
Chambers is huge but I'm sure you know that. They could be blowing out a few as a loss leader to drive in some buyers.
Find somebody in the family who has a Mazda so you can get the owner loyalty $500 off. Find a coupon for $250 off a 3....they were giving them out at RevItUp events, you can find 'em on eBay for a couple bucks. If you can get them at or near invoice, then the above should get you under invoice. Shouldn't be too hard...its not like they're going to limit production to 500 units.
I'm actually looking at pitching my Audi TT, and getting a Mazda 3 hatch....I can get all the stuff I want (Nav, Xenons, Leather, and a manual trans) in a cute little hatchback, and I'll actually be able to fit some stuff in it....all at a damn good price. I just wish it had a turbo 4 or a V6 available. Of course I haven't driven on either, so I may decide otherwise.
Thanks!
****Hi, I am looking at trading in my Tahoe on a new one. I am trying to get an idea of the value of it. Here are the details:
2002 Tahoe LT
Black, No 3rd Seat, Cargo Doors, SunRoof, 32K miles. It is not 4WD.
I currently owe about $22K on it.
Those are all the details I can think of!
Thanks for the help!

Great description - thanks ...
Leased, owned.? it's all the same .. good people take good care of their vehicles, bad people take bad care of their vehicles .. It really depends on the driver and the vehicle, I was at one of the largest BMW auctions in the country last week, probably 375/400 Bimmers - all, 01 02 03 04's and most were leased and most were like new .....
But anyway, these are doing in and around the $34ish range with short miles at the block, so $36,0 sounds fair on the private side ... on the dealer side, check and see if it's a "demo" - meaning: has it been titled.? I have a feeling it might be "off lease" or traded or auction, which is fine, you just don't see too many 8k demo 525's rolling around the streets .l.o.l.. but yes, if your going to keep that puppy or pile up the miles then a CPO can be a BIG help and it's worth the extra $$.
Remember, it's a Bimmer not a Buick and everything costs lotsa money ......... ;-)

Base (not SL, right.?) .. sounds like the dealers are about right at $3,5 .. it may be worth the high $3's, *maybe* the low low low low $4's .. with a vehicle like this, most dealers really don't have a home for it, so they don't and won't put stiff money in it ..
Me personally, I would have that bad boy cleaned and detailed, finish any service on it and put a Great Ad in the paper and maybe even drop it at your buddys house that's living at the busy corner of the city for some eyeball appeal, these still do pretty good money on the retail side IF they are nice and clean ... $6,900 *asking* and off it goes for $5,5/$6,5 ~ spring has sprung up north and I bet it won't last long ............
let me know what happens ..!
Terry.
I figured that but since the Sunday paper was right there, thought I'd toss out the numbers.
Looking at various guides, it appears to be somewhere around $21,000...high, low, average?
Any sort of help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Tim

Thanks again for your help. I ended up paying $16,000--The car is exceptional, tires are brand new, there was not another red 6 speed within a thousand miles and I feel great about the transaction. Maybe I left a few $ on the table, maybe not, but I do not have the desire to see if I can get the the absolute lowest rock bottom price--the deal ought to be good for both parties.
I amazed at how market forces work. My Lexus was truly gorgeous and worth about the same as my higher mileage '99 Subaru wagon ( 99,000 vs. 104,000)--The Subaru depreciated only $13,000 over nearly 6 years and 104,000 miles!
I would have driven the Lexus another 100,000 but was not smart enough to realize when I bought it how limited a rear wheel drive car is in snowy north--6-7 months.
Thanks again
John
HELP: 1) My 17 year old son wasnt hurt, the other 2 people in the other car were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but seemed to be reasonably ok( I pray they are only scraped up)
2) The accident was the other guys fault, but our 1997 Mustang convertible was totaled. 82000 miles on clock, tires with 50 % remaining. V6, automatic, dark red with tan top, in the land of Mike Vick, of course. Paint on car was average for a 1997 , top didnt leak and the interior was slightly invaded by chick fil-a(no rips but kinda dirty }. What should I reasonably expect from their insurance company, as I see comparable cars in the 6500-7500 price range from private parties. thanks ....dweller
JUst letting you know what happened with the wreck.
The Insurance co offered $6930 for the car , sales tax, and tag tranfer fee. I took it...........Dweller

The bottom line is, when you find a cherry vehicle, especially one that is hard to find and is exactly what you want, you have to step up and make the deal. It looks to me like you got a great deal, especially because you're comfortable with it.
P.S. if your CL handles like my TL, then you should be OK, as we had a a particularly snowy winter here in NY. (BUt not as bad as Minnesota, I'm sure).
But the Herald is good for a few laughs - essentially now the New York Post Lite!!
