04 Sienna LE, "no awd".? we have the side balloons, Xtra pdoor, color is right, rear noise and a big 18k .. trade side, in and around the mid to tall $20's, might find a dealer that will fall on the $21 and change figure .. down Retail Rd $23/$24ish figure *asking* ..
98 Honda 4dr Accord LX with an auto, with a TON of miles and we need new round things, sounds like a low to mid $3,0 driver depending on how much it may need, could only be worth the mid to high $2's if needs breeze, interior and new stoppers .. if it's super ultra nice, needs little, looks and drives like 50k, then $4,900 *asking* down Retail Rd and get the what you can ...
Are you trading both - or are you trading the Honda for the Sienna .?
Terry.
Terry.
"Around" $17,945 - whats that mean.? .. "around" the block, "around" the Horn, "around" the planet, "around" the universe - where do you live, Wichita .? NMAC is usually pretty good about the pay-offs, get them to email/fax/Pony Express a 10/15 day pay-off - *Keep the dealer out of it* they will use a inflated figure so talk with a Lease Manger at NMAC, move Up the ladder and talk with a real deal decision maker ...
Certified vehicles are fine for 40k Bimmers, 50k Benz's and 60k Audi's .. but where most folks get stuck paying, is for 12k Sentra's 15k Protege's, 20k Honda's, well you get the idea .. all a certification really is - is a drive around the block, we get an oil change, a look see on the rack and if there isn't anything spurting blood they "certify" it and you pay $900/$2,000 for the *honor* of a extended warranty - ain't that nice .l.o.l........ you can negotiate your deal without one and have a real good me-chanik look at it close for a hundred bucks and get the balance of the factory warranty and in some cases, especially in your situation, a nice clean 40k Prizm or something close to it ............................
Let me know whats going on ....
Terry.
After this latest round of CCB hopefully I will be done. I think I am through buying new cars to drive every day because I like to swap them out too often and we drive too many miles to buy new. That said, leasing one nice car seems to suit us because we know how many miles we can drive and we know we ain't gettin' out of it early either.
JPHam: It's pretty nice out there. We went to a wedding about 100 miles south of there a few years ago. Wouldn'y mind moving there but property values are crazy.
Hate to ask for advice from Terry after the fact, but I'm curious.....
Q
I'm betting with the holiday, plus your disclaimer about getting caught up, my own post was lost in the shuffle. Hope it's ok to run it by you again.
Had my eye on a 300M for a very long time. Told myself I would jump when I find one I could afford.
Found the following:
2000 300M, steel blue, no roof. (All other goodies are automatically included on 300M, I believe). 113000 miles. I have no idea if the timing belt has been replaced (I know it's an issue). In fact, I really haven't even seen the car. My roommate's and my company does the website for the lot that has this car. I noticed he had this car a month (or probably 5 weeks now) ago, but who knows how long he's had it??
Asking $7997. If he expects it to go for that, I sure hope the belt change has been done, but based on how long it's been there, I suspect NO.
Thoughts?
6 Cyl, Auto, AC, Wheel Group, Full Doors, Rag Top
Maroon Ext., Gray Int. CD w/ 6 Speaker Sound Bar
84 month/70k Ext. Warranty Houston Area
We own the 2004 Sienna, but would like to trade for a Pilot or MDX... just curious at this point, will likely wait until just before the warranty expires.
Thanks again, I appreciate it!
Jill
Its in the process of coughing up a tranny, poor thing won't last much longer. Hubby is bummed, but knows now that he needs a manual transmission, the auto just won't work for the amount of weight he is pulling around. Thankfully we have an ESC (for a little while longer) to pay for the tranny, rear main seal, t-case leaks, and who knows what else.
Anyway......
1999 Ram 3500 DRW reg cab, 4x4, V10/auto, SLT Laramie, a/c, am/fm/cass, tilt, cruise, pwr stuff, red/gray, knee deep in tread (original tires), 19k miles, spray in bedliner. Truck is in VERY good shape for its age, looks/drives like an 02.
We aren't in a hurry thankfully, need to be even on the loan before we even think about trading this beast. Hubby is really sad, he loves this truck, unfortunatly the auto tranny doesn't love him or his heavy loads.
ARGH, just when I *think* I'm ready to retire from the CCB......
My wife wants new wheels. Thankfully, her mom works for GM, so we get all of the discounts, plus incentives, GM Card $$$, et. al.
She's got a white 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (supercharged 3.8L, auto) sedan, with the Special Edition package (chromies, unique spoiler, black roof fencing, hood heat extractors, two-tone grey leather, Special Edition badging on the doors). She's got almost 37k mi. on it (just out of warranty). Has a spoiler-type sunroof, OnStar, heated/power driver's seat, standard AM/FM/CD (no Bose), and XM added (I installed it - I'm an IT geek unafraid of pulling cables/et. al.; did a nice job if I say so myself). Car has been garaged nightly and Zaino'd regularly (only a couple small rock chips, easily touched up, on the front fascia). No accidents. Interior in good shape except for some carpet wear near the dead pedal. Never smoked in. Tires are original, still have maybe between 1/3 to 1/4 treadlife left. Original owner, have all maintenance records (pretty much oil changes, tire rotations, fuel filter, put in a K&N filter :-) only warranty service was loose cladding and an HVAC programmer failure). We're a couple of DINKs (dual income no kids), no pets, located in the Milwaukee suburbs. This car is quick but has not been abused or raced.
Would greatly appreciate your input on trade as well as private party sale (have a co-worker who is a Pontiac nut - his summer car is a '69 Firebird convertible he restored himself, and his next project is a 69 Trans Am/Ram Air 400 - he wants the GTP badly :-). He's a good guy, don't want to take him for every $, just want a fair price for both parties.
Really appreciate the time you spend doing this. I believe you're located somewhere near Fort Lauderdale - would love to buy you a drink or two next time I'm down there (sister lives in Deerfield Beach, make it down about once a year).
Thanks,
--Robert
(who knew he should have joined the akangl vehicle pool after the Titan :-)
113,000 miles, no slider and the miles are tall-tall-tall .. if this dude is knee deep in rubber, service from yesterday and ALL of it has been done from mile 1, glows in the dark, no Oh oh it's Maaco, seats look hovered in, runs like and it ~ drives looks feels like 50k, etc, etc ... then the dealer might have the high $4's low $5's in it - asking $7997.? .... I'm *asking* $900,000 for one of my condo's but, I will only see $175,000 "IF" I'm lucky, do you think I'm asking too much .? .l.o.l.... $7,997 is a nice figure but he's *asking* waaay too much, thats why in been in the ad for all this time, try $5,9/$6,5 - 113k - Yikes.! .......
Personally, for $8,000 there is bunches of nice clean "low" mile vehicles out there, Buick Centurys, Chevy Lumina's, Mazda Protege's, Nissan Sentra's, Chevy Prizms, Ford Taurus, a nice clean low miler Old's Alero/Intrigue makes for a great buy .. this is not an Ad, just some idea's because 113k anythings will be expensive when they blow a motor/air/windows/seats/compressor and they have the resale value of Condensed milk ............................
Terry.
$2,600 ..? .. it probably "looked" like it, or it really did need some stuff .... hey, 6 years almost 200k and not a hic-up - you definitely got Your monies worth ...........
Terry.
But you have to stop insulting our intelligence by telling us about your "plans" to not buy anything when we all know it's just so much noise.
Good luck,
-Mathias
Have you two ever thought about spending a little money on a good Drivers Ed course, maybe you wouldn't be having all these problems .......

I have a 2000 BMW 328Ci which I'm looking to trade in. It has 55k miles, premium package, harmon-kardon stereo, brand new tires, inside is impeccable, exterior has a few minor dings. I've been offered $17k for it. Is that reasonable? thanks
========================================
00 328Ci with a handshaker, 55k and your seeing $17 big ones ..? ... I hope you weren't sitting around and waiting for my post .l.o.l..... $17 IS ALL the Money, it's a coupe, it's got tallish miles and it's a meat clever, nice car but hard to sell ..... $17,0 - be there.!
Terry.
So, If you need a instant number - Then REPOST .....

I haven't broken the Titan, have almost 6k on it.
Remember, he works the heck out of his truck, doesn't take much to break them that way. He's had it nearly a year and has hauled some serious stuff. Guess the truck doesn't like work. Its not the *driving* that's the problem, its the *work* the vehicles don't like.
Aw, heck, I just picked up a pristine '98 S70 GLT for just under $8k with 70,000 on the clock. Do some shopping around, especially at smaller dealers that don't specialize in the brand you're looking for (I found the Volvo at a rural Chrysler dealer.) It's amazing what some investigative work will turn up.
I'll defend you. Now Terry that was just not nice...
(psst Terry ROFL:-).
Sorry Jolie it was pretty funny. :-)
I'm glad my Titan is a Nissan and reliable, it had to haul a firewood trailer yesterday too (just not as big as the one the Dodge was hauling).
Our plans were to buy a travel trailer, been saving up for that. We may still keep the Dodge and carry on with our plans, just cross our fingers that once the ESC (will be soon) is up the Dodge behaves for a while.
I was just trying to figure out how buried we are in it, so we know how much to pull out of savings to pay it down in case we need to trade it in. Guess I'll just run it by Tex at the Nissan dealer and see what he says, thankfully he won't try to sell me anything.
Course its not from bad driving either, we are both good drivers, but work our trucks.
The poor Titan wishes sometimes it was back on the car lot. We have better luck with chainsaws then we do with trucks.
Ah well, the Dodge is our business truck, so its a write off anyway, if we buy a new truck it will be too. Everytime I think we have it figured out, something breaks.
NO MORE USED TRUCKS!!!
I need a number on a 1999 Honda Accord EX-V6, dark green, tan leather interior, 2-door coupe, spoiler, alloy wheels, cd, power everything, power moonroof, pretty much fully loaded. It has 85,000 miles. I am bringing it to one of those businesses that buy your car for cash this week. It is in good condition and i am the original owner. I live in NJ, some of the lots are in NJ and there is one in NY. I am looking for around $10,000, is that realistic? if not, what is? thank you in advance for your help. Nicole
Kinda need to know, course we aren't trading right now, but we've got to get that loan in line cause we are going to trade it eventually.
139,000 miles on a Cashmere colored Accord EX 4dr sedan. I'm the only owner. Very clean inside and out. Nicely detailed. No accidents. One spot of rust starting over right rear wheel well. All maintenance records up-to-date, timing belt done at 90K, etc. (Minor add-ons - moonroof visor, pinstripe) Stock EX. Owned in Atlanta GA for 6 yrs, then to Philadelphia suburbs, PA
What do you think?
(p.s. reposted this from a March request and July 1)
thanks for taking a look at this one!! Cashmere is Honda's color for silveryGold for the accords. I think they changed it to beige after next Generation. jk.
99 EX el Coupe' ES V6, no-sale green with tan guts, we have a wing and prayer, slider, wheels and 85 big clicks ... If the rubber is deep, cold breeze, no K-mart kisses, no bad Aka driving experiences, service is 100%, it's clean and it looks/drives and shows like 40k .. then in the land of Tony Soprano, in and around the low/mid $8's, "maybe" "might" "could" see the low low low $9's if it's a baby doll, it glows in the dark and it needs -0-, but if it needs stuff, start deducting -- $10 ..? .. you better be a personal friend of the Soprano's, cuz' the color, miles and the 2dr part is no help ........................
Let me know ..!
Terry.
After considering buying a new car for about 18 months and asking for values once before, we took the plunge and ordered a new car (Sienna XLE/Limited AWD)
We are currently trying to decide which car if either one to get rid of (most likely the Volvo will go) Trade in and private sale prices would be GREATLY appreciated
The Volvo 2002 S60 T5, geartronic, leather, roof, winter pkg, preminum pkg..., ash gold a bit less than 35K miles, a couple minor door dings, no accidents new tires, always volvo serviced
The Sequoia 2001 Limite 4WD, fully loaded new tires, brakes..., no accidents, but a couple of good scratches on the car, just shy of 75K miles, Toyota extended platinum warranty to 100K Silver exterior, gray leather interior, with cd changer.... interior is in good condition.
Vehicles are in the Hudson Valley NY about 75 miles from NYC.
THANKS
baxter
I had a friend who had a big truck for logging and he flat wore it out in short time too. Between the hauling and the 40 below I can understand how you go through trucks.
Tell hubby to get a job fighting fires on the Slope - heck, get one up there yourself. Then you'll only put half the miles on your rigs. Plus, if you get irritated with him, you can pull alternate weeks for a while :-)

======================
Good info, thanks Robert ..... yep, you shoulda joined in, this could be a bigger pool than the lady in Mass who just won the 290 million big ones .l.o.l... actually I'm a little farther north, but hey, free drinks ...
It's the right color anywhere, it's got all the GTP do-dads, no smoke, no street racer, no kids, z-man wax, sneakers are weak, all the service, no Star, chromee's and 37k, now is the time to drop this dude in your area, in another 8 weeks it will back to snowmobiles .. these do pretty strong money in the Milwaukee/Chi-town area right now and based on your description it sounds pretty nice ...
Dealers are paying the strong $12's for them and there is even a few that have rolled over the $13 figure, but I bet they didn't need new round things .. a fair price for your buddy.? .. if he cuts you a check for $15,0 than thats fair, most dealers will *ask* $16,9 for a really nice one and see the ultra tall $15's low $16's - but it also depends on how good of a friend he is .........
Terry ;-)
Yep. But you've got to kiss a few froggies before you get to the prince. Or something like that.
Autotrader had a Tacoma; 5sp 4cyl reg cab, MY 2000, 36k miles (!!!), for $6,700. At a Lincoln Dealer here in town, no less, a real oddball. So I hoofed it down there.
Total rat, scratches, white splotches on no-sale-green paint, frt bumper pushed back and down 1"; hood doesn't fit right, $4 vehicle any day of the week. Pfffft.
BTW, it was an "LX" with two seats and a ctr console, I've never seen one like that. I learn somethign new every day, but mostly, it's nothing useful. And I don't even watch TV :-)
-Mathias
Just my own totally personal 2cents: You want to sell a Volvo 2002 S60 T5 w/35K miles instead of a Sequoia 2001 w/75K miles? When you just bought a minivan? Do you need a minivan & the Sequoia both?
My bias is, I do like Volvos, & isn't the S60 T5 a great car? It would seem like a nice antidote to an SUV or minivan.........
As for trucks, argh, yeah, the logging and cold winters take a toll on them. However, I would think that Dodge could make an automatic transmission that could last more than 20k. This is the 3rd Dodge truck we've blown through a tranny on in less than 20k. Not sure we will buy Dodge again.

needs rear tailgate, bumper bar, brackets and endcaps. paint is nice except for a few scratches
interior is fairly clean, no damage, no smoking, no pets
mechanically fine, new brakes, well maintained

tried selling as-is. no deal. Body shop guy wouldn't give all the money because I don't have the title. I owe over 7000; am prepared to lose money. Best way to sell, quick, take loss and be out of big debt?

In your case, we have miles and you had an "Aka attack" and banged it all up now your in the bucket ....... this "sounds" like a $3,500ish vehicle on the dealer side, but most dealers don't want to go into the rebuilding business and most body shops don't like the time and the investment to "maybe" see $5,500 because there not in the car business, so to speak .. your options are simple, stand tall and suck it up or do a fully blown Ad attack, detail, complete (or close to) semi-fix and grab what you can, it "sounds" like $5,5ish if it's properly done ...

No paint work at all, the only thing that was fixed when hubby backed into the tree was the radiator and trans cooling lines.
Its a little dirty in this picture, but shows that its not in 100 pieces.

Trade side what should we expect? Might have to send it down retail road to a pretty boy (or girl) who wants a pretty truck (its a looker, no doubt there) to look at.......what to ask there?
Terry
Step away from the coffee pot, lol.
Anyway in Hotlanta, it's gotta be 100 here today .. we have a 139k 4dr EX with the auto thing and it's "tan" metallic, we got some rust going on, you say we have all the service, waited a little long for the timing belt, no drive by's, 1 owner and you think it cleaned up pretty darn good .... trade side, in and around the low/mid $2's "maybe" "might" stretch towards $3,0 depending on the barometric pressure, the rust and the rubber .. me personally, since it looks so pretty, I would fire up a nice Ad for Retail Rd and do $4,900 *asking* and send it south for the first CIF (Cash In Fist) $3,9/$4,5 ................. sorry for the delay, always remember: there's no bones in ice cream .. so Repost if I miss stuff.
