I'm not the expert here, but, for some reason, your numbers struck me as odd, so i looked it up using Edmunds numbers and they show a private party number of $8K on that truck. And it looks like you are talking about at least $2K in repairs deducted from that. Seems like you are being VERY optimistic with your asking price. But, I'm curious to see what the experts say.

Terry, How've you been? God bless ya for staying so faithful to us folks over the years! Curious how the avalanches are doing at the auctions. I'm intersted in the totally loaded version with heated leather and slider. Figure one in perfect condition with around 20k miles. white or, i like the orange too in New england. KBB is 24.5K what say you? Thanks! Mike

Doing fine Mike .. golf game has been getting much better with some great lessons and some new clubs, boat runs fine when the hurricanes aren't trying to blow it into Georgia - no complaints ...........
Avalanches come in quite a few varieties .. but the half-ton Z71 4x4's with all the stuff are doing in and around the mid/tall $22's, low low $23's if they are nice and clean ...

The car is in OK, not great shape. The driver of the vehicle, a former employee, wants to buy the vehicle which is fine with me. I want to price the vehicle so that he takes it BUT I don't want to give the thing away. If it comes to me, I am *probably* going to offer it to the employees or send it to the auctions for disposal. What is this worth?

So, it's a 00 GCL 4x4, gotta a couple miles going on here ... but we have the 4.0, it's a base, that very special color that everyone wants, needs some rubber ..... what can I say, if we don't have any click clicks in the 4x4 and everything runs good and nothing really extreme needs to be fixed .. then it's worth the super tall $6's low $7's on the trade side and figure $8ish(?) to make everyone happy - .?
I'm not the expert here, but, for some reason, your numbers struck me as odd, so i looked it up using Edmunds numbers and they show a private party number of $8K on that truck. And it looks like you are talking about at least $2K in repairs deducted from that. Seems like you are being VERY optimistic with your asking price. But, I'm curious to see what the experts say. ================ Just under $10k was sort of the mean from Edmunds, KBB, and NADA, and a bunch of newspaper ads, considering all the prices. For $8k, in the paper they're '96's or '97's, usually with aroud 80k miles. It is an extra car in the driveway at the moment, and has been for the past 2 months, so if it takes another month or 2 to sell so be it. Since this is the land of Galves, trade-in wasn't an option to consider what-so-ever. It is a 4x4 as winter is approaching, so we'll see. I by no means am looking to "fund" all the recent repairs out of the selling price. I usually have a good feel for how to price used vehicles. Sold a 1995 motorhome over the summer that I had owned for 3 years, for only $700 less than I paid for it.
I'm curious what the Oracle will weigh in with too!
I live in Jefferson City, MO and I've got 2 vehicles to figure if you would.
1. 2004 Toyota Matrix XRS (the fast one). 6-speed, FWD, 16,500 mi, silver, moonroof, 6-cd, 17" wheels, originaly tires, all maintainence done, no dings, dents, frech fries or drive-by shootings.
2. 1997 Ford F150 XLT, 4WD, 71,000 miles, 4.6L V8, automatic, white, supercab-short bed, interior is pretty dirty and the body has a few scratches. Tires are OK. Pioneer cd.
So how much should these two fetch on trade vs. private party sale. Any ideas on how much a dealer would try to sell these for?
oh, ya know, i totally misread your statement. I thought those were repairs that it needed. I didn't realize you had made the repairs. I got a bit confused by the statement regarding the tires. so you're not quite as far off as I originally thought.

I have a good friend of the family who is an auto wholesaler and can get me a good deal either from a dealer trade, or the auctions. He's been getting my Dad clean, two year old Cadillacs in the low $20k range.
I was thinking of having him look for a Chevy Impala LS, preferably with leather. I know there are tons of used 03 and 04 base models out there. It may be a little harder to find a clean LS with leather. They seem to be descent cars at a great price, and still have some of the factory warranty remaining. Any opinions or other suggestions? My other vehicle is an SUV, but would still like something that could handle the kids and a double stroller when needed.
Time for the annual appraisal of our faithful '99 VW New Beetle:
Location: Metro Denver, CO Year/Make/Model: 1999 VW New Beetle GL Engine/Trans: 2.0L gas, 5-speed manual Mileage: 66K Color: bright blue w/ black cloth interior Major Options: 6-cd changer in trunk Condition: OK to fair. New tires at 60K; brakes redone in April; no "kisses"; have all maintenance records; would need a good detailing, inside and out Other: Right front fender and suspension pieces replaced in February after deer-induced trip over a concrete curb
The "books" place this at about $7500 ... what say you?
There are a lot of the Impala LS models out there. However, if you are looking for one with the leather and/or a sunroof, you will find those a bit more difficult to find as they are not in the standard fleet package.
For what it is worth, I am seeing a lot of '02 Impalas with 50-60k coming off of lease wholesale in the $7-8k through the lease companies where I have contacts. Again, that is without leather or sunroof but with all the general fleet options.
I was at a municipal auction last week and saw a lot of Impalas with the standard police package going for $4400-4600 with 75k miles.
Personally, I really like the Impala. My wife drives an '04 LS for work. Her company has had great luck with them in the fleet. They switched a couple of years ago to the Taurus SE model (they were $2-3k cheaper to purchase) but switched back due to some reliability issues.
I am a big guy and I find the Impala to be light years more comfortable than the Taurus, Accord, Camry, and Intrepids. They do have the boring GM interiors. Back seats are spacious and the trunk is pretty decent sized. Generally, we have been getting 28mpg in the city and 32-34 on the highway which I believe is phenomenal for the size of vehicle.
Personally, as a "total package", i believe that the Camry is a better car BUT you will never touch a used one for the price of a 2 yr old Impala.
if you are serious about going as high as $13k, a 2003 altima 2.5SL should get there. you should see about 30k miles on one for the $12.5k-$13.5k wholesale range.
I love bmw's.......but the GS300 is $3K cheaper. And the warranties are running out on both. Unless you really want a 5-series, all things being equal, I'd go for a used Lexus. (Save $3K upfront, &--probably--more in maintenence down the road). Of course, you could instead pay $32-33K & get a brand new Acura TL.........

Kelly says about $12,400 edmunds trade in- $15,300 NADA trade in- $17,175 most of the ones on autotrader and such are up around $19-20k. Honda dealer offered me the Kelly # and wouldn't budge. This dealer is known for not dealing too much though. Probably won't go back there, but wanted to know if I should keep shopping. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!
I drove a few FWD V-6 near-luxury cars but they didn't do anything for me and than of course I made the mistake of test driving a 5-series. Might as well get an Avalon or an Impala if I can’t find a nice five. The real 5-series I want is black with a nice 5-speed manual Trans. One finally popped up today on auto trader. (Or I managed to find it) Assuming the car is in good shape what you are guys think is a good deal for it. http://link.toolbot.com/blackbmw/7551
That is a nice looking low-mile car.. A little overpriced in my opinion.. Not too many 5-series buyers looking for a 5-speed, but you are, and you should get it cheaper than an auto..
Great looking wheels... glad I don't have to clean them..
I'm thinking a good price is closer to $22K, but I'm not the expert.. I'd take the VIN to a BMW service advisor and have them print out a history report. If no prior body work, that looks like a nice car.
Oh, you've DRIVEN an E-39, enough said. The one in the link looks like it has the SPP, & nice low miles. I don't know values tho. I think kyfdx is giving you good advice about getting the service history, etc.
Have you checked out the used listings on bmwusa.com? All cars at bmw dealers of course, who sometimes ask crazy prices, but not always. And many of them are CPO; great to have some warranty on an expensive Euro-car. Also many used private owner listings at www.bmwcca.org.
preownedbmws DOT com is a place that sells only used BMWS. I think they tend to run a bit high, but its good for a reality check. They probably run higher than normal retail, but less than a dealer.
Anyway, closest they had was a 530i sport (a 2001), with 48K, for $30,950.
I also haven't noticed 5 speeds going for much of a discount on 5 series'. They don't sell many, so the subset of weirdos (like me) that want a stick have to snap up the nice ones.
I wonder if they are cheaper in other regions aside from the NE. I know what i want exactly:
2003 avalanche 1500 4WD, NO Z71, base suspension only, loaded with heated leather memory seats and moonroof (1SM package), roof rack. white is a good color, orange or blue, miles under 20k. No past mishaps or paintwork unless it's like one side panel. Too many of them out there to settle for a builder.
Someone out there want to go shopping? How about it, Terry?
I checked AutoTrader.com within 100 miles of 60657 (north side of Chicago), and I couldn't find one unit that fit your parameters, of 90 '03s listed. I did find a few with the right equipment, at least, so you might want to consider being a bit more flexible on the color and/or miles. What's a 'good price' for one of these? Most I saw were in the $27-31k range, the ones less than that were generally more miley, 2WD or less loaded.
I'm looking to upgrade to a used Passat. I'm looking for advice on a realistic trade-in value. Here's the specifics:
2001 Protege LX 2.0 5-spd Emerald Mica w/ Beige interior 54k miles one-owner Alloy wheels, sunroof, ABS/SAB package Interior condition is immaculate Exterior condition looks great for the year and mileage. Finish shines like new. Has typical rock chips from freeway travel, small "parking lot" ding in drivers door. Maintenance records. Will need brake work within the next few thousand miles (about 30% left in the brake pads according to Mazda dealer). Tires have about 30% tread left. Car is in Michigan, but spent most it's life in Minnesota.
What would a typical dealer offer? I'm looking to trade for a 2001.5 Passat GLS 2.8 w/ triptronic, cd-changer, wood-trim, gold w/ black cloth interior, 29k miles. Local "no-haggle" dealer's asking $15500 for the Passat.
If I had to replace my car tomorrow, and you were closer to NJ, I would be real interested in the Pro, if the price ends up being where I think Terry will peg it.
"upgrade" to a used Passat? Why?????? The Protege will still be running strong long after a VW has driven you nuts with repairs.........also you can get a new Mazda 3 for roughly the price of that used Passat.
2000 BMW 328 ci coupe 58,000 miles topaz blue exterior/grey interior sport package with M3 rims/new tires xenon headlights certified pre-owned automatic w/steptronic new brakes multi CD changer moonroof excellent condition (only used in summer) located in syracuse NY
not getting many calls. asking $21,000 on internet and local paper. similar cars asking up to $24,000. thinking about selling to carmax but closest location is in maryland. any suggestions to sell this car quicker for a good price. am i asking too much? i dont plan on being very flexible with the price because i don't need to sell it, but would like to get rid of it by winter.
I'm considering trading in my 2002 Subaru Forester for either a Mazda3 or Vibe/Matrix, depending on what I decide about the tradeoff of driving fun for winter driving ability.
Details: Concord, NH area 2002 Forester L 2.5 engine, automatic transmission 79,000 miles Blue w/gray interior Options: Alloys; have replaced factory radio with a Pioneer CD stereo and XM receiver combo, but I could alternately put the factory stereo back in (but not the CD; I've sold it) Condition: Good interior, exterior is good with a couple of minor parking lot dings. No repainting. Tires are 1.5 year-old Bridgestone Turanza LS-T with at least 80% tread left. Brakes are OK but have never been replaced due to huge percentage of highway miles. Normal maintenance, with oil changes about every 3,750 miles.
What is the estimated value for both trade-in and private sale to a friend?
The Pro's been a great car...call it "chronic car buyer's syndrom" I guess. I've always loved the Passat...just never could justify spending well over 20k for a new one since it's really a second car (wifey drives the "family truckster" Chrysler T&C). The Mazda 3's a great car and top in it's class IMHO, but to get a 3s decked out w/ leather, etc., we're getting close to 20k. I've been searching 2001.5 GLX 5spds and found great examples for under $15k w/ less than 40k miles. Will it be as reliable as my 2001 Pro???...I doubt it. But I'm willing to roll the dice. I have the luxury to work from home many times, so if the car spends time in the shop, it's not too big an inconvenience. Now the $$$ to fix may be another story. If it nickels and dimes me to death, I'll chalk it up as a "gambled and lost" experience and sell it.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents
Still waiting for advice on realistic trade-in value on my Pro. Edmunds shows it in the upper $5k range. I may end up selling on my own, but the used car market for sellers in the Detroit area isn't the greatest right now. Everybody leases new domestics all the time.
New guy at work asked for advice, ignored almost all of it, and came away pretty well. I think.
1997 Accord LX no-sale green 4dr 91k 4cyl auto. Good shape, no runs no hits no errors, armor-alled out the wazoo, tires unknown. Dipstick pretty caked on so I'd say oil changes were skimped; valvetrain looked so-so... didn't have it checked out but apparently got lucky. At $4,500, I'd say nobody got hurt.
Then there's this puppy that I never asked about. Cuz I know better.
1993 A6 Avant quattro. 2.8 V6 automatic, leather, roof, brand-new no-brand tires. Runs "good", looks great, tiny rust bubble on tailgate. Oh yeah: 165k big ones. Gave up on it, found it in my neighbor's driveway two nights later. Small world. The next day, the p/s pump gives trouble. $3,200. Better you than me, pal...
Newburgh, NY 32,000 Miles No sale blue ABS, Automatic, full power, typical LE equipment I haven't seen it in person, just in an ad but let's just call it average to clean.
southern AZ 2000 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Extra Cab V6 2 wheel drive 5Spd 89,000 miles White exterior, tan interior bucket seats, AC, cruise, tilt, power windows, locks, clock, amfm/cd/csassette, sliding rear window, chrome rear step bumper. tires about 50% brakes about 50% oil changed every 5,000 miles, well maintained, but, has been used, and has numerous scratches, scuffes, etc..it IS a truck, afterall. Thanks, Terry
Good that you have an "exit plan". VW's & Audi's are really nice cars--as long as they're under warranty--personally I'd be wary of keeping one beyond the factory warranty. Sounds like you've thought it thru however.....
(Former Passat owner--engine problems, transmission problems, terrible dealer service, all w/in first 15K miles).
I went to CarMax in Los Angeles with the hope of selling them my FX35. I had heard they generally offer close to Kelley Blue Book for trade-ins. I guess I was wrong.
2003 Infiniti FX35 RWD - Laser Red 12,000 miles Sport & Touring Packages Sirius Radio
KBB Trade-In Value $32,250 CarMax offer $28,000
Other than a small dent in the back bumper (which they did not discount for) the car is in perfect condition. The appraiser said they discounted because it was red and would not sell. Did they really discount $4200 for red? What am I missing here?
"I had heard they generally offer close to Kelley Blue Book for trade-ins. I guess I was wrong."
The good ole "if kbb said it's true then it must be true". Carmax uses several sources, not just kbb. And we all know that kbb.com can say your car is worth anything. Until they are actually willing to write you a check for the car it should be used as a guide and not the auto value Bible.
As far as the color reducing the value, Terry could give you a more educated answer as to whether red would hurt this particular car. However, most Muranos I have seen on the road are silver and black. Red does not appear to be the most popular color for this vehicle.
FWIW: I checked the Edmunds value in my area and a 2003 FX35 RWD with almost every option except 20" wheels, DVD, and NAV came up to a dealer trade of $28,900.
It's a 2001 with 47k miles. They only come one way except for color...this one's pewter. It's comes with the 6.0 liter V8 , heated leather seats with memory and All wheel drive (the first in a pickup)...basically this is the predecessor to the Denali.
I had a 99 Passat and absolutely loved it -- great ride, performance, feel, style. It had it all. I came to VW from Hondas and Nissans, so it was certainly an upgrade style-wise.
The Honeymoon was short-lived. I was used to the 5K oil, 15/30K services as the only maintenance needed on the Hondas and Nissans. Well...the VW was another story. All of that style came at a price that I refused to afford. The service costs were about 2.5 times an Accord. I would go to bed at night and dream about Check Engine lights and trim pieces falling off, only to be told by the dealer that "this is normal."
The windshield wipers failed on my 86 Civic in 1999...I took it to the Honda dealer who said that there was a known problem that generated a service campaign; they repaired it for free.
I haven’t gotten a chance to test-drive that 528i yet. But my friend and I did manage to get a BMW dealer to let us test-drive a 330i with a 5-speed. It was awesome to say the least. I don't know if the bigger 5-series with the smaller engine will measure up but we will see.
Steel blue with the sport package.. I have a 325i, but I bought those same wheels off a 330i. So, that picture looks almost exactly like my car..
That 330i has about 30HP more than the 528i.. and a small advantage in weight.. Not sure about the gearing, but I'm guessing there will be a noticeable difference in acceleration.. Although, the 528i should still feel relatively quick.
Hey Terry, you should start chaging a buck a piece for each quote you do. You would be a multi-thousandaire by now...
Here's what I need trade-in/private party pricing for (will that cost 2 bucks?)
98 chevy s10 LS v6 (not High Output) 5 speed manual ext cab, third door bed liner, bug deflector, diamond plate tool box am/fm cassette white with tan interior 102k miles, small rocks chips in bumper and hood Never wrecked and average interior regular maintenance, 100k tune-up done at 80k 50% on tires
With this long list of specs, I hope I didn't forget anything obvious. Also, where should I send the 2 dollars? I'm in Vegas so can I send you one of those recipts that the slot machines pay out with nowdays? Thanks, Steve
Nope....If CarMax said $28k, then its pretty much worth $28k. Their appraisers are rated on how close their appraisial is to what the car sells for at auction. That having been said, a friend had his Trans Am appraised at CarMax, and then a few weeks later took it to a different location and had it reappraised and there was about a 6% increase in value.
I'm inclined to agree with CarMax, however....I don't see too many FXes in Red (although I usually see 2-3 FXes in various colors daily), and I personally don't think red looks good on them either....and I typically like red.
.... Every Carmax is different .. the Carmax in LA will be putting different money in a FX than one thats in Denver, Tulsa or Chicago .. that being said, they will probably put different money in one thats in Sacramento or Seattle depending on the time of the year and their current inventory - "and color" .. red is not a big seller in most SUVS, Lexus made a reddish maroonish monotone color for the RX300 and the ES300 and they were a $1,000ish deduct if they had really really really low miles, if they had just average miles or more they were a $2,000ish deduct, cold - very cold color in SUV's ..................
Yeah, the Pro's been a great car. I'm just looking for a change into something nicer...I get bored with the same car after a while (expensive habbit, I know). I'm willing to pay extra for the style...I've always loved the looks of these cars and the way they drive. Stay tuned...maybe my story will change in a year or two????? LOL
I'm about to buy that truck and trade them the TT for $18,500
The only quasi reasonable private party offer I got on the TT was $21,000...of course trade with tax advantage is like $20k, so the $1k difference isn't worth the inconvienience. Got another of $19k, and another of $18k. I told those two where to stuff it.
I'd argue that the only response to an offer, low or otherwise, is to say "Thank You". You don't have to take it, but when someone offers $19 on a $21 car, you now have the option of taking a $2 hit and being done with the whole thing.
Typically, that's an option you didn't have before the offer was made. And the tax situation is of course not your buyer's problem... I understand where you're coming from, but the guy with the $19k was willing to give you a pretty fair price, no?
Steiner's Law of selling cars: Nobody HAS TO buy your car, it's your job to make them WANT to.
I am starting to shop for a 2002 Lexus SC430. Since there are no options, I was expecting asking prices at dealerships to be fairly consistent... Boy, was I wrong! Looking at 2002's only, and in the mileage range of 20k-30k miles, I have found asking prices of $43,000 to $55,000. I am wondering what these cars really go for at auction to know what a fair offer is to make for the car. I live in the Chicago area, and am looking for either white, black, or red, and something with 20k-30k mi. I understand that if the car is Lexus certified, then it will have additional cost beyond auction price, but a $12,000 window makes me worry about the car's actual cash value. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Lexus made a reddish maroonish monotone color for the RX300 and the ES300 and they were a $1,000ish deduct if they had really really really low miles...
=================================================
If I were buying one, I would have paid $1000 not to have that godawful ugly two-tone paint scheme, even if it meant taking maroon.
I didn't say "You can stuff that offer in your rearward facing orfice". I was nice-ish about it, but did strongly infer that it was totally unacceptable and a waste of my time.
I beg to differ on the tax situation not being the buyer's problem. It is an external force that totally alters the numbers of the deal. If the buyer wants the car they're going to have to make the numbers fall into line such that the advantage of sales tax is overcome by their offer.
If I had it to do all over again, I probably would have taken the $21k, but that was back when I first had it for sale, and I was thinking somewhere around $23-22.5k would be a fair price (Terry agreed with this, so I don't think I was totally out of line).
$19k is a really super duper fair price...for the buyer. Its not even close to fair for the seller. That's what CarMax was offering....I'm not going to give some private party the deal of the century. You can give me a fair private party price, or I'll take it down the road an get a fair trade price, but I ain't sellin it to you for trade in.

Terry,
This is my last car to sell this year.

So how much should these two fetch on trade vs. private party sale. Any ideas on how much a dealer would try to sell these for?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Location: Metro Denver, CO
Year/Make/Model: 1999 VW New Beetle GL
Engine/Trans: 2.0L gas, 5-speed manual
Mileage: 66K
Color: bright blue w/ black cloth interior
Major Options: 6-cd changer in trunk
Condition: OK to fair. New tires at 60K; brakes redone in April; no "kisses"; have all maintenance records; would need a good detailing, inside and out
Other: Right front fender and suspension pieces replaced in February after deer-induced trip over a concrete curb
The "books" place this at about $7500 ... what say you?
Personally, as a "total package", i believe that the Camry is a better car BUT you will never touch a used one for the price of a 2 yr old Impala.

tires are new Michelin Hydroedge, brakes done 1 year ago. synthetic motor oil always used and changed regularly. new tail lamps (01 ody's have all red tails and signals, I switched to red tail, yellow signal as an 02 ody.). pretty good scratch on rear passenger side of back bumper from brushing against a wall. equivelant of (4) 8" lines where black rubber from bumper come thru the paint.

Kelly says about $12,400
edmunds trade in- $15,300
NADA trade in- $17,175
most of the ones on autotrader and such are up around $19-20k.
Honda dealer offered me the Kelly # and wouldn't budge. This dealer is known for not dealing too much though. Probably won't go back there, but wanted to know if I should keep shopping. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

Great looking wheels... glad I don't have to clean them..
I'm thinking a good price is closer to $22K, but I'm not the expert.. I'd take the VIN to a BMW service advisor and have them print out a history report. If no prior body work, that looks like a nice car.
Just my $0.02,

Have you checked out the used listings on bmwusa.com? All cars at bmw dealers of course, who sometimes ask crazy prices, but not always. And many of them are CPO; great to have some warranty on an expensive Euro-car. Also many used private owner listings at www.bmwcca.org.

Anyway, closest they had was a 530i sport (a 2001), with 48K, for $30,950.
I also haven't noticed 5 speeds going for much of a discount on 5 series'. They don't sell many, so the subset of weirdos (like me) that want a stick have to snap up the nice ones.

But, it will be hard to find a nearly five-year-old BMW with only 30K miles also.. Sometimes you have to pony up for a really nice example.

I'm looking to upgrade to a used Passat. I'm looking for advice on a realistic trade-in value. Here's the specifics:
2001 Protege LX 2.0 5-spd
Emerald Mica w/ Beige interior
54k miles
one-owner
Alloy wheels, sunroof, ABS/SAB package
Interior condition is immaculate
Exterior condition looks great for the year and mileage.
Thanks for your feedback,
Mike

not getting many calls. asking $21,000 on internet and local paper. similar cars asking up to $24,000. thinking about selling to carmax but closest location is in maryland. any suggestions to sell this car quicker for a good price. am i asking too much? i dont plan on being very flexible with the price because i don't need to sell it, but would like to get rid of it by winter.
Details:
Concord, NH area
2002 Forester L
2.5 engine, automatic transmission
79,000 miles
Blue w/gray interior
Options: Alloys; have replaced factory radio with a Pioneer CD stereo and XM receiver combo, but I could alternately put the factory stereo back in (but not the CD; I've sold it)
Condition: Good interior, exterior is good with a couple of minor parking lot dings.
Thanks,
Steven

But I know a lady physicist for whom this would be a good car, provided the logistics could work out.
Alas, nobody has sent me an email about how I might get in touch with the seller... you know, to the address in my profile...

I haven't seen it in person, just in an ad but let's just call it average to clean.
Dealer has it listed at $9,995.

Good that you have an "exit plan". VW's & Audi's are really nice cars--as long as they're under warranty--personally I'd be wary of keeping one beyond the factory warranty. Sounds like you've thought it thru however.....

KBB Trade-In Value $32,250
CarMax offer $28,000
Other than a small dent in the back bumper (which they did not discount for) the car is in perfect condition. The appraiser said they discounted because it was red and would not sell. Did they really discount $4200 for red? What am I missing here?
Look at it here:

Edmunds and KBB say wholesale is around $18.5k. It's in Houston but i'm in New England. What's true wholesale on this limited production truck?
That Protoge isn't a bad car...good luck.
I haven’t gotten a chance to test-drive that 528i yet. But my friend and I did manage to get a BMW dealer to let us test-drive a 330i with a 5-speed. It was awesome to say the least. I don't know if the bigger 5-series with the smaller engine will measure up but we will see.
Donald
Steel blue with the sport package.. I have a 325i, but I bought those same wheels off a 330i. So, that picture looks almost exactly like my car..
That 330i has about 30HP more than the 528i.. and a small advantage in weight.. Not sure about the gearing, but I'm guessing there will be a noticeable difference in acceleration.. Although, the 528i should still feel relatively quick.

Here's what I need trade-in/private party pricing for (will that cost 2 bucks?)
98 chevy s10 LS
v6 (not High Output)
5 speed manual
ext cab, third door
bed liner, bug deflector, diamond plate tool box
am/fm cassette
white with tan interior
102k miles, small rocks chips in bumper and hood
Never wrecked and average interior
regular maintenance, 100k tune-up done at 80k
50% on tires
With this long list of specs, I hope I didn't forget anything obvious. Also, where should I send the 2 dollars? I'm in Vegas so can I send you one of those recipts that the slot machines pay out with nowdays?
Thanks, Steve
I'm inclined to agree with CarMax, however....I don't see too many FXes in Red (although I usually see 2-3 FXes in various colors daily), and I personally don't think red looks good on them either....and I typically like red.
Terry.

Peace!

If I were buying one, I would have paid $1000 not to have that godawful ugly two-tone paint scheme, even if it meant taking maroon.
