Remember this line for your negotiations: "Nobody wants this thing. With 56 miles, nobody's even *test* driving it, that's how little people want it." Given it's milage estimates (9/15), it's not likely to get many looks.
During the low-ball process, ask if they'd rather sell to you or to a wholesaler.
TMV is about $44,500. I'd start at $33k, myself, but that's just a number pulled out of my hat.
But I'm with the others about pricing. Down here there are A LOT of Hondas and Toyotas in the $2000-3000 price range. I know because I've been helping a friend price her '95 Accord to sell it. Lots of competition in that price range but also lots of buyers. Since a Chevy Corsica isn't as desirable as an Accord or Corolla, it needs to be priced under the market to move it.
Yeah, but it's worth it to me to sell it for that just to move it quickly. The longer I keep it, the more it costs me with insurance (even just with liability).
I will ask $3000 for it, and cut it loose if I get and offer of at least $1500. Never know, I may get an offer of $2000-$2500 pretty quickly on it.
I have been thinking about buying a used 4x4 SUV. I want to buy a 2005 with under 20,000 miles. I was considering the basic trailblazer, explorer, durango and the grand cherokee, and maybe the xterra. I don't need a V8, nor do I need a third row seat. Is there really much of a difference between these cars? Is there much of a difference in price? Your thoughts are much appreciated.

By all means shop them all. Prices tend to vary quite a bit on the models you've listed due to various option combinations or lack thereof. Given your parameters, you might also want to consider the Honda Pilot.
I'm guessing he is on another one of those 2 or 3 week golf outings he likes to take. As much as he plays golf, we should be seeing him on the Seniors Tour any day now.

Dealers have been quoting me $20K and bellow. What do you think is fair?
I'm no subject matter expert, but to me trying to sell a black car in southern Alabama in the middle of summer seems like a tall order. If it's not getting any attention now, I would consider putting new tires on and lowering the price down to $16,500 and see if there is more interest.

Silver, Sport package, auto.,XM, loaded except for leather. 2000 original miles, garage kept. Not a bug mark or ding. Excellent shape. Purchased in January, this year. Will some one please give me the Manheim auction price for this vehicle. Has to be traded in for a larger vehicle. Before it goes for trade-in I would like to know the auction price. MSRP was $18,900.00 with a 2000.00 rebate. I notice that no one has replied to the last many requests for a price. Any dealer out there willing to check it out for me???? Thanks in advance, NORTSR1
Thankyou for the fast answers. Volvomax, I live in Melbourne beach, Florida. I usually always buy, white, silver or light gold, never...BLACK or dark colors.

Like I said, I only saw it on the lot, it is not at a Volvo dealer. The price is listed at $26,900. This seems lower than what he have been seeing, but is it suspiciously low? What do I need to look for? Thanks!
Be careful on these if you've never had a Volvo before. They look great, ride great, very safe, but cost BIG $$$ to maintain - especially when they're out of warranty. We had a V70 wagon a few years ago and as soon as it was out of warranty, the repairs started adding up quickly. With Volvos, you either need a good independent shop that works on them, or a good dealer relationship. If it's not at a Volvo dealer, find a Volvo guy to check it out or see if you can find out the original dealer from the owner's manual and call them with the VIN to see if they have a service history. Good luck.
Looking for private party and possible trade-in value. Thanks!

Hi Terry! I got your name off another forum. I recently had a pretty serious accident, and the insurance company is offering what I feel is a very low "fair market value" for my car. Part of the problem I feel is where they are assessing the "typical" vehicle. Could you give me an estimate of the average price of a 2004 Suzuki XL-7 LX with steering wheel radio controls, upgraded sound system, privacy tinting. They are basing their normal mileage on 32,500 miles. for the zip code 65101 or 65109? I've done my own research, and I can't find a vehicle within the state in similar condition for less than 16,000.
Thanks! Kim (who is desparately trying to fight the insurance company right now)

Hmhhh could you find the VIN of that car. Sounds just like a XC90 we took in trade not long ago that was wholesaled away up north somewhere. I wonder if it is the same car as you are not that far away from me.
Thanks for all of your input. I just checked it out more thoroughly and it looks very promising. It has spent it's life in the North East, so probably not the car that your are thinking of british_rover. The CarFax was completely clean, it was a one owner car recently traded at the Lexus dealer in Norwood for a Lexus SUV. There are 9 months or 17,000 miles remaining on the factory warranty and I can purchase an extended warranty until 100K through the dealer. The car was clean on the inside, and just a very few tiny scratches on the exterior. The sales guy had pulled the records from Volvo and everything is up to date, except for one recall (seatbelt). He is taking the car next week to the Volvo dealership to complete the current service due and take care of the recall. The only issue is the 2 rear tires really need to be replaced. I am going to clean up my husbands car (trade-in) this afternoon and let him go crunch numbers tomorrow morning. And than, pending a positive report from our mechanic, we might have a good one! I am trying to not get too excited, but if this one falls through, there are plenty others to choose from.
The reason it is so cheap is probably because it is not being sold at a Volvo dealer. It can cost up to $3000 to certify an XC90. I would definitely get an extended warranty if I were buying that car. XC90's are by and large good cars, but they can be expensive to fix.
That was my first quess as to why the price was lower. I know certifying the cars can get very pricey. If everthing checks out with the mechanic and we can make the numbers work, it should be a good car for our family. I don't have to decide on the extended warranty right away, but I am sure we will buy it. Thanks for all of your help.

CarMax gave me a $15,000 cash offer. One dealer only offered me $13,000 in trade(I laughed and hung up). Edmunds says the trade in value should be around $17,500 and dealer retail is over $21K. I'd like to trade it in on a 2005 or newer used GMC Envoy for my wife. What do you think my truck it worth?
Miles are low and the color is right. Are the wheels factory?
If it's as nice as you say it is, I'd say it sounds like a good candidate for eBay. You could also put it in the classifieds--look at what other people are asking for similar vehicles, but I'm thinking $19,900 as an asking price.
Go to cars.com and see what dealers in your area are asking for similar vehicles. I bet most dealers are asking 19,999 or less. 15,000 is probably all of the money trade side and I would not expect any dealer to give all the money for a trade over the phone that is worse then giving pricing over the phone.
I just looked over the last 3 weeks of the Georgia Truck Trader and found the price range for trucks like yours (2WD, SLT, low miles, leather, Hemi, etc) is $16K to $21K, with most in the $18-20K bracket.
So a $15K wholesale offer is pretty darned close to being on the money.
A dealer is offering an '05 Ram SLT a lot like yours with only 14K miles on it for $19,991 and another dealer has an '05 with 19K miles for $20,990. Your truck is 2 years older (is it still under warranty?) and has more miles so it's got to be priced accordingly.
Side Story - My neighbor bought a Thunder Road Ram in '03. It was loaded to the max except for a sunroof. Hemi, 20's, fiberglass tonneau, body kit, leather, power absolutely everything, Infinity, the works. Stickered at $40K. He got it for very low $30's. Took him about 6 months to figure he bit off waaaaay more truck than he could chew so he goes to trade. We take it to the local Volvo dealer (wife wants an S60 instead of the ultramacho Ram) and the UCM works the phones for 45 mins to get a good price. Best he can do is $20K even. At that time the truck was less than one year old and had 11K miles on it. If he traded that day he would have been $11,000 under water. He eventually sold it in the Truck Trader for $23K so he only took a $7000 bath instead.
The 7-18 ATL Truck Trader has 142 pages of truck ads, with 25 pages just for Dodge. That's your competition.
Yikes, didn't realize they depreciated that fast. At $15-20k, that would be awfully attractive for someone who was considering a new work-truck model--the used, loaded model might stay nice-looking for a few years (or months, depending on usage)...
Well, Those $13-15000 numbers are accurate. Auction is full of trucks like yours and those are the numbers they are bringing. Actually, $15,000 is on the high side so I'd take the carmax offer.
