I always look at what the cars are doing at the auction when I give a value.
I could care less what KBB or Edmunds says.
I think $14,000 is probably best case, I could see it bringing a little less than that.
2005 Toyota Tundra
2dr Reg Cab
4.0 V6, 6Spd Man
RWD
26,000mi
Grey/Tan
TRD Sport 17" wheels/tires, fairly basic work truck.
Truck is like new.
Found a clean low mileage(20k) 2005 GTO for $19k. My truck is paid. Was hoping to offer $10k plus my truck. Possible?
How much would this devalue a car in the north?
2019 Kia Soul+, 2015 Mustang GT, 2013 Ford F-150, 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible
What would be a reasonable price for:
2000 BMW 525iT (wagon). 74,000 miles. AT.
Silver, grey leather. All loaded up, including a heated steering wheel, premium package, roof, etc.
Clean, 1 owner, service records. Local trade to a Lexus dealer. No htis/runs/errors. Fresh tires.
Assuming it needs nothing, what would be a fair price to pa for this? It is at a used car place that is owned by the same chain that has Lexus and Toyota dealers.

I think $8,000 is the money, maybe $9,000

To me, reading that would make the car worth zero dollars. I'd be asking myself, what else is wrong with the car? Was it maintained, even at a minimum?
I'd say about $1000 off.
But...you eliminate a lot of potential buyers. You'd be better off selling a car like that to a college student, so that might limit your asking price to a few grand.
In other words, it's acceptable in a beater, but not acceptable in any car that the buyer would have to finance.
My own car has a bad compressor clutch. It's buried. About a $700 repair. Car's only worth around $1500-1700. I'll just live with the windows down.
2005 V70 2.5T. 25K miles, silver over taupe, normal equipment (nice and loaded). CPO.
2008 V50 2.4i. Black over grey leather, select package so roof, etc. non-CPO.
Both in philly metro area.
Would says the oracle of Volvos? Especailly interested in a real price on the 2005. I have a pretty good idea from past postings on the V50!

I was hoping that someone can help me evaluate trade-in value of my car. I don't think my situation is unique but this is the first time that I am considering to trade in a vehicle that was involved in an accident.
Location: Washington DC area
2003/BMW/325i
4dr, auto, 35k miles, black
Options: only options were auto, sun-roof
The car is in an excellent shape. However about 3 years ago I was involved in collision in/out of shopping center. At the time my insurance nearly determined that my car was considered "totaled". However the "final" estimate determined that it was ~$2,000 below the threshold level of considering it "totaled" so I ended up getting my car repaired instead of receiving a check.
At the end of the repair, the final cost was $2,500 higher than what was originally estimated. Needless to say had I known, I would have received an amount that was worth my vehicle.
I appreciate any input/response on my vehicle trade in value.
That's just about in the middle between the poster who said "car is worth zero" and the "$1000 off" figure. That's about what I figured for a newer car.
Usually I see the A/C statement in the old beater cars where $700 is the bulk of the price. Most sellers would fix a busted A/C on a newer model. I don't think I would buy a car newer than 5 y/o if the A/C was busted.
Thanks to all of you for the info.

Any help on this one:
2003 Nissan Maxima SE
Leather & Sunroof
70k miles
tires fairly new
floormats are a little dirty, but rest of interior is great.
has some paint chips on hood and doors.
NADA Avg trade is 7650 + 825 (lthr&sunroof) = 8475. Is that in the ballpark for a trade in? LA/TX market
Thanks,
It was not classified as salvage so I still have my original title.
So, retail @ $10-12,000 range
Which puts retail in the mid $20's.
Unmolested, the car is worth @ $12,000
Depending on the damage, the skill of the repair, the Carfax, etc your car could be worth $6,000 or $10,000
Good luck selling it yourself.

psst - I'll give you $6600.
Just kidding.
If they aren't going to retail it, they have to have a wholesale buyer.
If they don't, they aren't going to stick their neck out especially on an older SUV.
They probably feel "safe" at $6500.
Overall sales at dealers are in the tank. SUVs are still getting the brunt of it. The dealership probably already has a large supply of this type of vehicle, and doesn't need more. Same with the wholesalers.
And while 88K isn't a tremendous amount of miles for a 2001, it certainly isnt a low mile car. So they have to factor in rehab costs.
I don't remember what you were looking at (or who lowballed you), but if they aren't planning to put it on their own lot, they are at the mercy of the wholesalers. And they probably aren't offering much.
So, while you may not like it, going the private sale route is probably your best bet. Sounds nice, so it shouldn't be too hard to sell. Try the for sale sign in front of the house and work first. Cuts down on the flakes you get off the internet!
Oh, and IMO many of those dealer list prices are fantasy. They can list it at whatever they want, but do you seem them moving off the lot very fast?
To me, if I saw your car local listed for a quick sale at 10/11Kish, I would be very interested in checking it out. But not at 15/16K.

My guess is the used car market will slow just as the new car market has.
This is a 2WD Automatic 6 Cylinder BMW. The automatic unit permits manual gear changes. Shiny black exterior with gray Leather seats. Has no major dents, dings or scratches. Has steering wheel controls and sunroof. Runs and handles great. Want to sell to buy an SUV. Has 69,000 miles.
Looks like a premium package car, non-sport.

I'm going to sell it myself. I put it on the internet for $12,500. Got one call on it so far. I have until February before I have to sell it so I have some time. It really is a nice car, the mileage is pretty good and it has factory navigation. I think I only saw one other RX300 in my area that had navigation but it had over 100,000 miles. Hopefully I'll be able to get what I need from it and move on to my next vehicle.
Meanwhile, my wife has her eye on an '06 9-5 (latest iteration w/ the 260hp HOT) auto with 28K miles. Options are the rain sensing wipers and Parktronic, or whatever Saab calls it. Factory warranty to mid-2010, clean Carfax, looks new and drives well. Any thoughts on a ballpark fair value there?
figure a couple grand for the CPO warranty and recon, so you should be able to pick that car up under $20 grand.
I'm eyeballing an 2003 Maxima SE. So I've decided to possibly trade in my Sentra.
Northern VA/DC Metro
2008 Nissan Sentra Base
2.0 4 cylinder, automatic
FWD
Sonoma sunset exterior
Grey interior
Pretty basic
7000 miles
Also, what would a person who had an 2003 SE Maxima (majestic blue, blonde interior) with 65000 got for their trade in? Good condition, alloys, sun roof, leather, Bose, HIDs.
Thanks for your time.
Well, if you must have a SAAB, that is a very good price. :P
