Curious what this would bring at auction.
2001 PT Cruiser Limited automatic. Looks like a copper color. Only 31k miles. In NJ.
Also found an '05 PT Cruiser. Silver. Its pretty basic. I believe its a stick. power windows and locks. AC. That's about it. Only 28k miles on this one. Used car dealer has it listed at $7500, which is about what other dealers are asking for '01 and '02s. So I'm suspicious. Then again, if its a base model.... ?
Thanks.
'11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S
Car models are phased out all the time, it doesn't have a bearing on trade in value.
Miles, condition and supply have more bearing.
05 Base would bring @ $6000
Location: Philadelphia, PA (or Pittsburgh PA depending on if that helps it or not, my son can sell it at school)
Year/Make/Model: 2001 Ford Taurus SEL
Engine: 3.0L V6 24V (Duratec Engine)
Mileage: 60,500 (mostly highway since my son drives between pittsburgh and columbus up to twice a month weekend)
Color: Black
Major Options: Mach Audio System with CD Changer, as well as aftermarket Sirius Sportster professionally installed (Hardwired to the stereo- not FM Modulated and it created an AUX jack as well), Leather, 5 passenger seating (center console mounted shifter), Auto Climate Control, Sunroof, Rear Spoiler, the SEL Wheels
Condition: Car is extremely clean- meticulously maintained by my son- we have all the records for it since we bought it 4 years ago, body is in good shape for a car pushing 8/9 years old (original in service is 9/2000), Brakes are good, Tires are new, interior is in great shape.
Other: Had a minor incident when I backed my excursion into the drivers side rear door- door was replaced. You can only tell if you look hard for it, but it happened and I couldn't sell it without disclosing it.
60k mile was service was already completed, Tires are only 10-15,000 miles old- Bridgestone Turanaza All-seasons.
I figure to advertise it locally- put a for sale sign on it too- craigslist, auto trader, etc and ask $4995- let it go for 4500ish
What do you think?
Did you mean $18-20K private party or $18-20K dealer price?
If I end up selling or trading it, I'll write back in and let you know what it went for.
Sounds like the '05 is a better value.

Located in Socal - thoughts on trade in value at a volvo dealer?
Thanks in advance volvomax
Xtended warranty adds no value to a dealer, but would if you sold the car privately.
Figure private party in the $16-18,000 range.
Should be @ $1500 wiggle room easy. Assuming that it is NOT a CPO car.
Otherwise, it's a good price w/ CPO.
* 545i (loaded with all options - sport, premium, cold weather).
* Metallic Silver with Grey Leather
* 45,000 Miles
Seems to drive fine. He wants 33K for it (and I believe the vehicle has extended maintenance for 100K miles as well). Is this a good deal or should I try to bargain him down further?
I am also a bit confused between the 545i from the 05 vintage vs later year 530i (I think the 530's are a couple of grand more).
Is the V8 worth buying a earlier year model as compared to the 530s?
Is the Inline 6 much more reliable than the V8?
Thanks in advance!
So that means trade-in value on my '05 has dropped about $6k in just 6 months.

Heres hoping gas dumps to sub 2 bucks and SUVs become attractive again.
So that means trade-in value on my '05 has dropped about $6k in just 6 months
Yes, you and everyone else w/ an SUV.
It's already happening.
So far, we have sold 6 used XC90's this month.
So, people are coming back to SUV's. Party due to the price of gas,but also partly due to the fact that SUV's are steals right now.
Frankly, I don't see the prices, trade in or retail going up again.

You should really get all the research done possible before buying a V8, 4 y.o., 45K mile bmw. Somewhat OT, I just saw a pic of a "BMW E61 patrolcar of the German Federal Police" on Wikapedia.....very cool.
Dealer asking $18,000

6,500 miles
SLT,TRX Off Road pkg.

Very good-excellent cond.
Thinking a reg. cab not being in high demand may factor in offer. What would be a good offer or starting point for negotiations? Thanks
You should have a grand to $1500 to workwith.
XC90 2006 Ocean Race Edition
CPO
16,500 miles
Nav + Moonroof + some other goodies
Dealer final offer = $28,000
Assume it's in 'excellent' condition (KBB trade-in = $24,890)
Seems a bit high still, but compared to others in the area it's the lowest... Thanks for your help!
p.s. Do these cars ::need:: premium fuel?
Unless the dealer buried himself(and he may have depending on how long he's had the truck) there should be some room left.
As for the fuel, if you want to get the most out of the V8,use Premium.

What type of numbers should I be looking at on this deal. I made an offer of $5000 cash plus my trade in. They told me I was being unreasonable, but then they called me 4 times today to try and get the deal done. They kept changing the prices all around but they varied from 7500 to 9000 plus my trade plus TTL.
thanks
Year/Make/Model: 2002 Honda Accord
Body Style: Coupe
Engine: 3.0 Liter V6, Automatic
Driveline: FWD
Mileage: 69,000
Color: Red, Ivory leather interior
Major Options: EX Trim: Leather, power moonroof, alloy wheels, power driver's seat, ABS, Homelink garage remote
Condition:
Exterior: Recent hail damage. The hail dings are very small. Most people seeing my car need to have the dents pointed out to them, but they are everywhere. Insurance appraised damage at $4000. Impossible to see dings in photos I have posted online. Aside from that, the exterior would be Good to Excellent by KBB standards.
Interior: Small rips along stitching seams on the driver's side bolster (where you would rub getting into the car) Leather is in good shape aside from that. Minor discoloration on passenger side floor mat.
Tires: New
Brakes: New
Maintenance: Performed regularly, have records since purchasing the car in 2005.
Insurance claim was made on the hail damage and was paid minus deductible. No repair work has been done. No other insurance claims have been made on the car.
anyway, in NJ (near philly).

Dark blue over tan leather. Preium package so roof, wood, etc. Steptronic AT.

In todays climate, what would something like this be doable at? Miles are IMO a bit stiff, but for the right discount...

What should I expect for a dealer trade in value?
CRV is probably worth $3,000
So, you should be close.
However, your car has $4,000 worth of damage.
So, you are probably looking at a $2-3,000 trade.
Car should wholesale in the mid to low teens.
BMW's are hard to steal as CPO cars because of the enormous costs involved in reconditioning.
Figure a selling price in the high teens.
wholesale is anywhere from $27-29,000
Factor in the reconditioning and the CPO warranty and you shoud still have some wiggle room.
I cleaned, washed, waxed, and vaccumed my wifes car sunday. Then I went in this morning and offered them $6000 plus trade plus TTL. They RAISED the price to $8500 plus trade plus TTL.
Oh well, its their car. I guess they want a homerun or nothing. We'll just keep looking.
So - two questions:
One - Obviously, the car with new tires is worth more than with the old sneakers - but is it enough to offset the cost (in other words, would I likely get the $600 back)?
Two - what about the trunk lid - should I have it sprayed or trade with scratch?
Both these questions are about the "cost vs reward" of fixing up a car before trading it. Any overall thoughts about that?
Miles are stupid low, but the trade in add for low miles is limited.
Might want to sell that truck privately.
one of my russian buddies at work said when he used to live in ny(nyc area), his blazer was good for MAKING parking spaces. :surprise:
