I do drive alot, my last car had 75k in 3yrs lol :) Thanks, that's what I was afraid of.

KBB says $10k for the car, but I guess the market being so bad kinda blows the bottom out of values though. :(
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Yeah, $10k for a 60k Mazda 6 isn't realistic.

Should be a slam dunk for VMax!

2004 XC70. Super clean, all records, new tires. fully serviced and needs nothing (reportedly). Loaded with the normal stuff, + boosters and Xenons.

CPO until early 2010. Currently has 80,000 miles on it.

What would something like this "front line ready" be worth on a trade, and reasonable for a private sale?

    In the greater Philly area.

2020 Acura RDX tech SH-AWD, 2023 Maverick hybrid Lariat luxury package.

Man the 80k just kills you.
    Figure a trade in @ $8-9000

    Hi, this is my story

    North Jersey
    2004 Honda Accord LX
    4dr
    2.4 Auto
    FWD
    108,000 :(
    charcoal grey / grey
small gash on hood courtesy or rt80
3k body work when car was hit while parked 4 yrs ago, all OEM parts
    tires 80% worn
    new front pads, new battery
all service done on time at a local shop
Drives like the day it left dealer

    thanks
  • delthekingdeltheking Member Posts: 1,152
The Accord has a good resale value.

But no dealer will agree that it --Drives like the day it left dealer,,that is you are saying it drives like new-- How`s it possible??--3k worth of body damage work, tires 80% worn , new front pads, new battery-- it just cant drive like new. It`s a 100k mile car.No 100k mile car can drive like it just left the dealer.Plus if u are driving it in New Jersey,,then there is so much rust and salt on it.
So how can u say it drives like new with all those replaced and used parts? :shades:

So average to fair exterior and interior trade in values apply.Plus if the damage is on carfax ,trade value goes down.

Volvomax can give a better estimate.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
I agree w/ del, it's not a really desireable car from a dealer standpoint.
Probably a $5k car on a trade. Assuming the Carfax is clean.

Hi, I was hoping you could give me the trade in value for my 2006 Mini Cooper located in the Boston area:

    Red/ white roof
    Automatic
    Stability Control
    Ipod adaptor
    45,000 miles

The interior is clean with no blemishes, and the exterior paint is still shiny with the only noticeable imperfections being some small paint chips on the hood from road debris

    Thank you!

    Should bring $11-2,000

I'm surprised it's that low. Thought they had a fabulous re-sale value. If it's that low, seems like a good deal for anyone who wants to own one but can't afford new.

    Base model..

45K big miles... warranty done in another six months, plus free maintenance has expired...

Plus... who can buy for trade-in? At a dealer, they'll be asking $13,900, selling for $12K..

On a car that you can buy brand-new for $21K-$22K... with 4 years of warranty and 3 years of included maintenance...

That's just my take on it.. :)

    2006 Jetta GLI - sedan
Package 2 - gray leather interior, sunroof, dual climate control, dsg transmission (automatic with paddle shifters etc), 6 disk cd changer, 17x7 alloy wheels, exterior is platinum gray
    43,000 miles
    Engine: 4 cylinder 2.0T - 200bhp - 207lb ft
    FWD
Tires are probably less than 7% worn
    Red brake calipers- great braking
    Blacked out emblems
Paint work on rear right panel where friends mom hit the car. The majority of the dent was removed. Also there is a dent about the size of a quarter over the drives side door on the cross bar thing. There are tiny chips in the paint (not very deep) from debris on the road.
All maintenance has been done up to date. The car is taken in whenever anything is suspected to be wrong. I am sort of obsessive about keeping my car like new. The car really runs great. My dad has an IS350 and i honestly believe that the GLI drives way better than his Lexus. The other day i spent 8 hours detailing it, so yea.
What would a trade in value be for this car?
I paid about 23,000 for the car in 2007.

    My guesstimate would be 10 - 11k.

Volvomax could give u a more accurate estimate.

6 months ago they did have great resale. Along w/ everything else that got good gas mileage.
    Now,things are different.
    Plus,it's a miler.
Everyone wants a low mile Mini.

As mike mentioned above, it is simply not possible to estimate what the resale value of your vehicle will be in 8 months. There are a multitude of unknown factors that could influence it greatly between now and then - gas prices, the overall economy, the condition of your vehicle at the time (what if you have a wreck?) and overall demand for your vehicle and vehicles in general.

The best that anyone can do is give you a ballpark on the value of that vehicle today.

I am considering trading up to a newer model before I have to start replacing parts for the second time around and happened on a low mileage used 2008:
    Potential Trade In:
    Chicago, IL Suburbs
    2003 Honda Element EX AWD
    2.4 L automatic
    AWD
    72,000 miles
    Dark Blue Exterior, Blue/Gray Interior
Factory Equipment plus Honda Side Steps, Remote Locks
    Aftermarket Remote Starter
Good Condtion, minor scuffs on plastic bumpers and interior of tailgate hatch, driver's seat upholstery starting to show wear.
Tires have 7-10,000 miles left, all maintenance is current.
    Brakes done at 55K miles.

    Looking to trade for:
    2008 Honda Element LX AWD
    2.4 L automatic
Kiwi Green Metallic (Bright Green) exterior, gray interior
    6,000 miles
    All factory equipment

The 2008 is on the used lot of a smaller domestic dealership - I'm curious to see how motivated they are. Thanks.

    What do I think?
    I don't like Lincolns.
Otherwise,I don't have enough info to give you a value.
    A "new" 04??
    How many miles??
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
03 Element is stronger than I thought it would be.
    Figure $7-8k

You are probably looking at high teens for the 08.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,733
do you mean its never been title?? Its been sitting for 5 years??

And what about options? Was LSE a fully loaded V8? I can't remember.

  • delthekingdeltheking Member Posts: 1,152
    This is very surprising.
An `03 Honda Element has a higher resale value than the 03 Accord or 03 Odyssey or 03 Civic.
I never thought Element had such a strong resale value.
  • rprossilrprossil Member Posts: 62
Thanks - on the '08 how high is "high teens"? Looking at the edmunds and some of the ones for sale online, I was thinking something in the $15-$16K range for the '08 LX? Or do you think I'm too optomistic?
    Thanks.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
    Yup, I was surprised too.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
$15k is about wholesale. I'm thinking $18k or so.
  • rprossilrprossil Member Posts: 62
Thanks - I guess I may have to push for the high end on the trade and stretch a little on my end, but the trade number sounds good.
  • tapestapes Member Posts: 5
Hello all. I wanted to see if anyone could help me out with current wholesale values of the following vehicles. After talking myself out of a CPO BMW, I am settled on purchasing on either a Volvo S60 or Volvo S80. This is what I currently have on the table (Mid-Atlantic Region):

    2007 Volvo S80 FWD
    15,000 Miles
    Leather / Moonroof
    Clean
    Asking Price: $24,000

    or

    New 2008 Volvo S60 FWD
    Less than 200 Miles
    Leather / Moonroof
    New-Condition
    Asking Price: $25,000

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,

I priced my 06 Sienna XLE Limited with AWD and Nav and DVD entertainment center with 58,000 miles at Edmunds and it came back at clean trade in value of $20,500.

When I go to the dealers for the trade, I am being offered anywhere from $14,500 to $17,500.

Is this fair? I mean if Edmunds says $20,500 why am I not see this when I go to the dealers. Please any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thank You
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Thats a good price on the S80.
wholesale is @ $21,000. Add recon and the warranty and you don't have much, if any room.

Wholesale on the S60 doesn't matter because its a new car,not a used one.

Between the two, I'd go for the S80.
  • volvomaxvolvomax Member Posts: 5,238
Once again,Edmunds doesn't buy cars. Also, their numbers don't update frequently enough to be really useful.
Having said that, $14,500 seems really low. $17,500 sounds more realistic.
Almost 60k on an 06 is a BUNCH of miles. Dealers will always hit you hard for that.
  • mrashy2004mrashy2004 Member Posts: 15
Thank You for your thoughts. I think what upsets me is that when I went to one dealer, they said $19,500 but then when I went back, they said they made a mistake and that the trade in is $16,500.

Unless the S60 is a T5 (which I don't believe it to be), I'd also go with the S80. That's alot of car for the money!
