Second, I have my sons 2000, SR5 extended cab, Tacoma, V6, everything works, 213,000 miles, body (believe it or not) is in Excellent shape, air and windows etc all work really well, tires are 70%, black on tan. It's a 5 speed, he ran synthetic oil in it every 3k. Located in eastern pa. I'm going to have it detailed etc.....I'm just wondering acv on this truck. By the way......get this.....never had the timing belt or water pump replaced! Kids!!
I am now considering a 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor SE.....there is one local dealer that has one left over and is advertising it for
$31,549MSRP
500. off loyalty rebate
8,094 under invoice pricing (yea, right).
1500 trade or down payment
= 21,499.................it has leather, 6 disc cd (Rockford Accoustic sound system, power/heated seat....again it's a SE.
Can someone explain how they are permitted to advertise 8,094 UNDER invoice?
:confuse:
anyway.....what would you hit them with? Won't be long and the 2010 cars will be out.
thanks Everyone!!!!!! you guys are the best.
There are much better choices than the Endeavor for roughly the same price.
Think twice before buying....Just MHO,though!!!!
manual transmission
Burgundy exterior/gray interior
82,000 miles
EX-L so it has leather, roof, alloys, keyless, climate control
I owned it since new, someone bumped into the rear bumper at about 5,000 miles, it was repaired by the dealer. Otherwise the exterior is in good condition with a few age-appropriate scratches and dings
Interior was spotless, no stains, no rips, non-smoker
I'm trying to help my elderly aunt replace her Oldsmobile Intrigue that was recently totalled in an accident (fortunately my aunt came out without a scratch). She loved that car and would be the most comfortable with getting a similar replacement. I've looked at a few at the local dealers. Found one that looks great, but the dealer's asking price is in outer space. It's a Honda dealer and they're asking $6,495.
I can't imagine they have more than $2,800 in this car. Kelly Blue Book retail, itself often an absurdly high number, says dealer retail is $4825.
Here's the details:
1999 Olds Intrigue GL Sedan
Maroon w/tan interior
3.5 V6 engine
75,000 miles
Options: Leather, sunroof, p/seats, CD player.
New tires.
Carfax says it's a local 1-owner car with no accidents.
Overall very good condition - no major dings/scratches. Looks garage kept.
Located in PA
What do you guys think a realistic selling price for this car should be, and what do you think they might have in it? It seems like a good car, but I don't want my aunt to get ripped off.
3000-3300 would be a good deal!!
Just MHO.
thanks

Thanks in advance.
2006 RTS Light blue, Eastern PA, 40000 miles, needs 4 tires. What would the trade number be and a fair price >?
Thanks everyone....also thanks for the info on the Mitsubishi. I didn't realize they were that bad on holding value.
You're buying a mid-size SUV at a compact SUV price.
I test drove one a while back. Not a fan of the interior, and it should offer a 3rd row, but at least the engine was nice and torquey.
Is it really $21.5k, or is it:
21499
plus freight
plus processing fee
plus the pin striping we already put on
plus undercoating
etc.
real price $24 grand.
I could not find any pricing info on the original poster`s 06 Ridgeline.
So is 24k a trade in value or retail value??
Thanks
The sales people here always tell me don't worry about how much a dealership has in a car, worry about its market value. So, however much you think it is worth, I wouldn't go over. Looks to be around $3,200 to me though.
So, $33900 is full retail. Should be able to buy the car in the $29's easy.
A little confusion here. I requested a quote on a 2008 NEW Mitsubishi and you stated that they have a horrible resale value.....more or less. SO I didn't persue the deal.
I then was doing more research on what to buy for my wife and I and came across a just traded 2006 Honda Ridgeline RTS with 40k on it (just needs tires).
What do you feel the hard money would be in this truck? I'm guessing, 14,500 to 15,000.......but I don't deal in cars the way you guys do every day....so I'm at your command.
Thanks.....Ed
I wouldn't let poor resale value influence what car I bought. Resale value should be low on your priority list. If a Mitsubishi is what you want then you should buy one. You'll pay a lot less for a Mitsubishi anyhow, which will negate most of the resale value loss compared to say a Honda or Toyota . Keep the car for 6 or 7years and resale value won't matter at all.
2.5L I6 automatic
98K miles
white outside, tan leather inside
no sports package, has a sunroof
good condition inside and out, no paintwork
maintenance up to date
My Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge dealer is offering it at $9,495. "REDUCED!"
How much does he need to keep reducing?
I think $8,000 would be fine for a dealer price.

That sounds like the car I was looking for but couldn't find. Oh well.
29k miles
Not certified.
Condition is what it should be for 2006 with those miles.
Dealer wants $22k
I'm looking for a 2006 Luxury Suv for $20k (prefer with Navi) with miles less than 30k. Possible?
Thats real close to what those cars are doing at auction right now.
Lux SUV prices have been going up at the auctions, not down.
Depends on what you definition of Luxury is.
Volvomax would know better, but I think you might be able to get an XC90 to fit the bill.
Another alternative is the Chrysler Pacifica. You may be surprised at how luxurious it feels when all loaded up. And that should be well below your pricepoint.

If Luxury means the brand/make name then I think Lexus RX 330 is the best choice.Maybe 05 model with about 40miles,,but its reliability is bullet proof ,good resale value, exceptional quality and a very comfy, plushy ride!! :shades:
And I did qualify by saying it depends on how you define luxury. If its by name only, then no, it doesn't qualify.

No chance. Not if it has decent miles and equipment.

Exterior Color: White
Interior Color: Saddle
Major Options:

Condition: excellent.
I was wondering how much 1 model year newer and plus the rare option of air suspension would prop up the price, as compared to the 2006 I posted before.
The dealer kept on stressing that it is a very rare option.
Thanks
No add for the air suspension in the book. Unless it was part of a package.
Premium Package 3
I want to stick to my $20k budget but it's hard. CPO are typically 2-3k out of my range.

Am I totally stuck with this car?? Based on the numbers, it doesn't look too good.
What options have you all tried before that has worked? I really want out!!
That has to be a way... people trade all the time.
Any information you all can provide me, I appreciate it! :shades:

People used to trade all the time. Banks are cracking down on financing inequity.
Unless you have several thousand to put down, or can buy something with a ton of rebate $$ you are probably stuck.

But if you want to trade in 2 or 3 years down the line,,then resale is very crucial. Also,if for some reason,a year or 2 later,,you don`t like the car [ a problem I had with my 07 Honda odyssey] and want to trade in,,then it is a huge factor.I was really happy at that time even though I did not like the Odyssey b`cos its`s resale value was terrific!!
And actually,,by the way,,,I don't deal with cars everyday. :shades: Infact my profession is totally unrelated to cars .I am in the health care field and folks in my field have very little clue about cars.
Just that cars have been a childhood hobby.
And we have a guy who has to come daily for 1 hour for his therapy. He was an automotive engineer, retired now.But those old folks :shades: in his area get together on the weekends and keep their knowledge on all car related topics uptodate and in turn he keeps me uptodate!!!
I had no choice,I guess
Our discussions daily with his esteemed know-how about cars help me to keep up with Edmunds uptodate !!!!
Also edmunds is one of the more interesting sites out there..Like real time entertainment ,,what with all those crazy sales stories , dealer mishaps , debates , arguments, fiascos etc etc!!
And I have to ask you -- How come you decided to go from a small fuel thrifty Mitsu sedan to a huge gas guzzling Honda Truck...Big change there!!!!
The whole thing makes me sad, because I never wanted it, I want my Honda back!
It'll even out sometime, I will get out, I will not keep it the whole lease.
But, yes there will be a contrast in mileage when moving to the truck. But, will certainly be a better value than most. Honda does not have to put a V8 in a car or truck for it to be strong. That is when you know its being built right. Something GM cannot even strive to do. My 4cyl G6, might as well be a 3cyl lawn mower. My past 06 Accord 4cyl would blow any G6 4cyl off the road!!! My mothers 08 Jetta with 2.5cyl in it would again knock the G6 off the road. I just cannot put my finger on why GM has not been able to produce a strong efficient engine similar to a Honda or VW.
Garbage!
Were you here a few months ago wanting to get out of the G6 lease? I learned about buying GM cars in 1979 when I bought one of their cars with the infamous 'sploding Olds "Diesel engines". Lost my shirt, & had to keep it for 4 years because of weird financing (+ the drastic depreciation). Amazing that GM took another 30 years to go bankrupt.
My 2 cents: just drive the stupid car until until lease end--"It's only transportation". Way worse things to worry about than leasing a car you don't like!.......not worth so much angst.....
