In Florida, Black with no scratches or sun damage. I know it's a bad color for FL, but the paint is immaculate- garage kept. 64k miles, ABS, auto, cd installed. New tires, brakes, just had 60 k tune-up. all belts replaced. What do you think? Probably going to go on e-bay with it.

I know where I heard it last...

When my (now ex) Mother In Law was taping the mouths of my two best friends shut at my wedding.

I thought I heard some commotion... hahaha!

Miles are a touch stiff, and it is Black...

Methinks about $10,500ish Wholesale.. But I'd be curious to see what Terry thinks.

eBay? Youd do better inthe Auto Trader with this one...

  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
    Hmm...

$35K seems a tichover the money...

I think that if it is just PERFECT (And I mean PERFECT) it could break $30K wholesale...

Shoot to be around $33K when all is said and done. Maybe a little bit more if certified.. but 33,500 has to be all the $$.

It's a 1986 Corolla w/ 125k miles. About the condition you'd expect for it's age. Not pretty, but runs fine. I don't want to sell it on my own but what can I expect from a dealer? Thanks.
  • daleprdalepr Member Posts: 1
I'm in Houston, TX and have a dark blue mica 2000 Miata loaded with leather, Bose, everything but ABS. 18,000 miles ... just a few minor scratches. How much can I expect from a dealer.. vs .. selling myself on say ebay? Any ideas? Thanks, Dale
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... Whooof. It's black, it's FL. It's a 2Wd, the 4wd's are in demand. It has 64 klicks, 45/50K would more like it. It says Honda, it's really an Isuzu -- l..o..l..

Bill likes it more than I ..if it super nice and clean, I think $10 kills it.

Now, if it was running through the Columbus auction, it would probably do $11 ...

    Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... Oooooh, it's the blue mica with the tan gut's .. sounds nice.

Miles are right .. let's figure the scratches at $300 ..

So now we have a great color and super miles .. It should do all of the ultra high $13's ..and if you decide to retail it, through it in the Houston paper with a "big fat 5 liner".

    2000 Mazda Miata LS..1 owner.
    Only 18,000 careful miles.
    Factory Warr. plus all options
like new, Must see.. must sell.
    $15,900 ..281 555 1212

Let some nice Cowgirl offer you $14,7/$14,9/$15,100 take her, and the money and run .. l..o..l..

    Good luck ...

What kind of trade-in value should I expect with a 98 Pontiac Trans Am w/o ram air, Black, premium monsoon stereo, polished wheels, loaded, good shape, 47,000 miles? Thanks for the info
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332

    ...... I think I answered it at post 5242..

$10,500 and some change, I think ....huh, yes ..?

Hey not bad for such a slow guy like myself ..

    Terry.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... Sorry I missed this one, I actually can thank Rsc for not reading his post ..l.o.l...

I don't have to tell you, these are hot vehicles .. lot's of fun to drive, slaughters the Toyota product ( my own stupid opinion) ..and the others.

What this is worth .. as of today will depend on where you live ..

The miles are right and it's "the" color.
Fix the dings .. they are doing the mid to high $24's at Statesville. And about a ghee whiz less at Detroit. So, where do you hang your hat ..?

    Terry.

This is for Terry and Dale with the Miata. Forget Ebay. Forget the dealers. Terry has the right idea about the big fat bold newspaper ad. I put mine in the Seattle Times on a Tuesday. Friday morning a woman wants it NOW sight unseen. Only trouble is I live on the other side of the mountains and there's a winter storm warning in effect-- 10" of snow expected on the pass. So we agree to wait until Monday. Yesterday. I placed the ad for 11,000 (this was before I discovered this discussion). She had offered me 10 over the phone sight unseen. I take off that afternoon and the car drives like a dream--I don't even want to sell it anymore. So I get there and tell her what a deal she's getting and show her the NADA high retail figures, and she says what's another thousand. So all you need is someone who wants it. Then when I got home last night, there were two more calls asking. Probably could have gotten even more! My advice is check out the competition in the paper in your area. There were 6 miatas in ours--2 95s and 4 96s, but mine was the only m-edition. And mine said "conscientious owner." Spell it right!

Thanks Terry for the help. I am wondering though if anyone can help me figure out how much I should expect for a trade in.

It's a 2001 Nissan Sentra SE w/ Performance package. No sunroof and no cd changer. It's black w/ 7300 miles. Excellent condition. I live in the San Francisco Area 94112. I really want a WRX!

    Hallo:

What's a realistic trade in value for a silver/grey 2001 SL500 Sport with everything (except multi-contour seats) and 23K miles? What's a realistic retail value?

    TIA
  • afetterafetter Member Posts: 1
'98 Sunfire GT, Manual trans., Dark Green w/ the works incl. Sunroof, CD, ABS. 107,000 highway miles. 1 owner. New water pump. Clean. No problems. Southeast Mass. What's it worth? Thanks in advance.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
....... Well this is a pretty fat daddy vehicle ... So it's gotta be like ..puuurrrfect for the big cash.

The seats must show little or no wear, no dings, no scratches, no love bug invasions, paint must be new, with no touch ups.

The miles are real stiff for a vehicle like this ..P top ..?

So all in all, if it's showroom ... it would probably ring the bell in or around $56 maybe $57 and some change ... no help with the miles.

If you decide to retail it, $65,900 would be a smart asking price.. probably end up with "around" $62 to $64.. depends on the area and the condition.

    Terry.

Got lost in the shuffle I guess. :) Here we go again: 1993 Toyota Corolla LE sedan. Automatic, power everything, sunroof, cassette. 130K highway miles, new brakes and rubber, nice outside. Looks like a 96. What's it worth on trade-in and in the paper? Ellicott City, Md. (Baltimore suburb)

Also, a 1997 Nissan Sentra GXE automatic. Broken right mirror, 102K mostly highway miles, needs new tires but has new brakes. Baltimore, Md.

    Thanks in advance. :)
  • sweetv12sweetv12 Member Posts: 58
thanks...yup, does have the P-top and 18' AMG Aeros to boot...showroom clean....high miles, yes but pristine nevertheless....
    and its in CA, btw.....

off topic, thanks for all the help you (and Bill) give...you really disperse good knowledge to peope who are looking at entering transactions with limited information in hand....i really appreciate you guys....

here's a toast to terry, bill and anyone else I might have missed!!!!

..... How are you ..? We need to get out of this high mileage stuff, and get you into a nice Avalon or a S80.

Rust rings around the roof ..? No ..?

Then it's a pretty nice ol' car. It will do an honest $3,0/$3,200 at the block, so on the retail side (you know the drill) ..$4,950 in the rag, and $4,2/$4,500 on the porch steps.

Hmmmmm, the Nissan sounds a little rough. I can tell by the tone in your voice. .l.o.l.. I'm thinkin, maybe a quarter ..($2,500)

I am currently trying to deal with a local Orlando Volvo dealership on a 2000 S-80 with only 4875 miles on it. I am having trouble on the deal. Dealer wanted 34988 which in my opionion is HUGE money. I told him that a fully certified S80 with 4875 was worth 31500 tops. My wife let it slip that we were trading in a 1995 850 Volvo with 88,000 miles. My questions are as follows:
Do you think 31500 was a good number? What do you think my trade is worth in the Orlando market? The car is clean, no damage ever, always garaged.
I only wanted to offer 26500 plus the trade and its now at 27000 plus the trade and the dealership is looking for a compromise and I have said NO WAY..... what do you think?

Just want some quick advice. I have an 01 Protege ES 5-speed (I know, I know) and it's really driving me nuts. Either want to trade it for an 02 Civic, an 01-02 Accord, or a new Altima. The Protege has 9500 miles, black over black, roof, CD, power everything, spoiler, and 16" factory wheels. Car looks like new without even a crumb inside or a scratch outside. I just want to know if it's worth trading or should I just learn to live with the annoying engine?
  • im_brentwoodim_brentwood Member Posts: 4,883
LOL.. I know those guys. I'm also about..ohh..geez.. its gotta be almost a mile away from the boys on Webster ave.

Give me a lot more info on YOUR car (The 95), heck, I'm across from the Copper Rocket.. swing it by and I can appraise it for you if you want.

As for the S80.. its a Moondust T6 then, is it? For that kinda ASKING price it better be.

Granted, that car is going to pull a HUGE premium for the SUPER low miles. Still, 00 2.9s with 20K or so can be had, retail, for no more than 26,500ish on a push. A T6 is worth.. MAYBE $29K retail with similar miles. And we're talking about the ones that cross the block at Central Florida Auto Auction.. you know, the big one you see from the Bee Line Expressway... over by OBT...

I think that $34,995 is a freaking out of the book fortune myself!

1999 Bentley Arnage Racing Green/Saddle (Yuuuck) 24K miles (Also YUCK). $105K, and the guy wanted, are you ready? $120K. A mere $14K less than I recently paid for a 9k mile 01 Red Label...Oh well..

Thanks for your (or anyone else's) help in advance. What would the trade-in value be for a red, automatic '85 Corvette with 84000 miles that is in (as KBB would define it) "good" condition. It has no major mechanical problems that I know of and the body is in good shape. I live in the Buffalo, NY area.
  • twistinmelontwistinmelon Member Posts: 90
    1992 Accord LX 2 door. 5 speed. 65k miles.

Rust in the usual Honda location (at the hind end of the rear wheels). Minor body damage. Not a great paint job after an accident, but no damage to frame (have driven car 7 years since accident).
Interior clean except slightly drooping headliner at back window. AC not doing so well these days. Power antennae will not lower the last 5 inches or so.

It runs like a champ...never a single problem. Tires in decent shape.

    Is this car worth anything?

    thanks!

Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. :)

I have a 2002 Jetta 1.8T I just bought, loaded (the one I asked you about before). That's my attainable "dream" car, so I am happy for now. Problem is, my dad needs a car now. So that's why I was looking at used cars (like the Toyota). The Nissan belongs to a friend of mine, and he was just curious what it was worth.

Thanks again for your help. And you couldn't get me into an S80 if my life depended on it. I hear they have alot of problems, or at least they did when they first came out. :(
  • vocusvocus Member Posts: 7,777
I learned the hard way about Protege value. I got $11,500 for mine and it had almost 20K on it (back in November). That was just good luck on my part. (Turns out, the salesman that did this deal is not with the dealership any longer. I wonder why?) :)

Anyway, Proteges (or most small cars, except Honda and Toyota) don't hold their value very well. I learned twice with Proteges though. I traded a 1999 DX in Feb. of 2001. The car had 37,364 on it, automatic and sunroof, no scratches, and I got $7500 for it. That was KBB at that time in Baltimore, Md. too. So like I said, they don't hold their value that well unfortunately. Because they are pretty nice cars.
  • zoomzoom79zoomzoom79 Member Posts: 272
The S80 was a first year model. Most cars will have teething problems in their first year of a significant redesign. I wouldn't mind a S60 but you can't get a 5-speed with the mid-level engine.
