(Mr.) Bill (ohhh nooo!) Sorry couldn't resist ;-)
Jodie
If it stands tall and it's new .. a dealer would probably put $5,5 to $6 in it.
On the retail side, it's anyones guess. You have to have the right buyer at the right time, maybe in the $8's ..?
Terry.
msrp invoice
Blackberry $25,625 Contact Us
S40 Silver Metallic $25,252 $23,461
Midnight Metallic $25,225 $23,434
White $23,975 $22,369
White $23,475 $21,904
What would be a good starting point.
Also, is there some type of VIN decoder I can user to see what the options are?
Thanks
Peeter
The Lincoln LS's, right now are probably the best buy across the board .. 00 with 20k, V8, sport pack, slider, are doing in the $22's ..
If you are lookin' at the LS400's ..and you want it super nice and clean, with let's say 35kish in miles .. they still bang the the hammer in the 28's+. Thank goodness, your not lookin' at the SC's, I paid $31 for a 17k last month (smoke em' ..if you got em').
And the Jags, there all over the place.
So, pick your poison ....l..o..l..
Terry.
Jodie
So much for that.
Thanks guys.
Where you been hiding? Bill's been complaining about the work overload. We might have to raise his pay...
Actually this is probably not a bad little vehicle, the tires are on the new side, it's a LS and the miles are super low for the year..
He has all the toy's ..and except for some little parking lot kisses, it's still a nice ride (based on what your telling us) .. The Galves book will hit this one, so I gotta think in and around the high $2's on a trade, try $4,500 on the retail side and see what happens. Just make sure it's cleaned, and looks super sharp before he does either..
Good luck ...
Terry.
Soooo, what are you going to buy ..? Got any idea's yet ..?
Terry.
TIA
99 Ferrari 355 FTS -- silver with the blue guts. Aluminum calipers, colored dashboard, B/GTS upholstered top, with the stitchings in color, steering wheel colored ..and last, but of course not least, the GTS top in Carbon Fiber ... with a mear 8,226 miles ---- and as clean as it was when it left the factory.
How much.. American money ..
Terry. :-)))
I assume its never been painted... Never been smoked in, and somehow, amazingly enough, they never got french fry stains on the Italian Lambswool carpets.
Well, I paid liek $78K for my 355, but it is a 1996. And it is Red, and it has Scuderia Sheilds on the front fenders =P
Silver is so-so on those I think. Not Nero (Blue) or Titanio Grigio (Grey).... Hmmm...
Id have to think right around $110kish is where it strikes me. But these are all over da place.
OK, I have a Puzzler for YOU!
What did a 2003 SL500 with 181 miles on it do?
Bill
Most likely a Grand Cherokee. Just concerned about finding a cherry low miler here in the big ATL (egads, not this discussion again). I like the 98 because it's already suffered the last model year depreciation. I'm scared of the 99's with their reliability. A 2000 is within the realm of possibility, but could be hard to find one much cheaper than the new ones, that have a 100K powertrain warranty and $2500 incentive money. I think we call moving from a $15K 98 to a $30K 02 bracket creep...
Confusing the issue is that I have to find a car for my mother. She wants an X5, but people in hell want ice water. Now she's talking Oddessey minivan (big diff). She may end up with the GC, which has me moving up the sedan shopping. I agree that the LS V8 is the best bargain. I'm not ready for the Jag image, even though price could be close. LS400 would be great, but I'm not an AARP member. (so why am I looking at a Lincoln?). Passat? Hmm.
Short answer (too late), Will get into shopping mode tomorrow, and probably have a better idea (more questions) early next week.
I will, however, give you $25K for that 355... I might can up that if the Blue Devils come thru for me.
The I30 is doing pretty well, the Q45 has traditionally been about as smart to buy new as a Kia Sephia, Hyundai Sonata, Cadillac DeVille, Lincoln COntinental or Buick.
QX4s are fair...
But G20s seem to do pretty well. It all depends on what the market thinks of the car. If its a hit (As I think it will be) you'll be in and around 55% after 3 years.
But too soon to call my friend...
As far as equipment goes, DO NOT get a stupid color. That Magenta may look cute, but its' the Black/Tan in the North, Pearl White/Beige or Silver, Champagne...etc...
Play it safe there. Ask the people who bought Purple Jag XK8s back in 98/99 how it feels to cost them $3K++ instead of going with Topaz, White, Sapphire Blue, Carnival Red or Silver.
Keep it out of the body shop.
Options? Roof, Leather, CD. All a must. Watch those little sticks between the seats that you have to keep moiving back and forth to change gears. They help you not as a general rule
Hope this helps!
Bill
But as far as a Car... A Jaguar Vanden Plas is nicer, cheaper, and at least as reliable.
OK, so it isnt as quiet, but its more fun to drive (Sorry Quentin but you knew my opinion already
Odyssey pays not to buy used. 99s bring dumbass money.
The 355 for $25K? Sure! Lemme just douse it with gas and throw a Grenade at it first ;-D
Seriously, $25K buys ya a nice Mondial or 8V 308. Or a classic 330GTE 2+2 if you're brave.
Bill
Q
Then they get the "chicken pox" when they go to trade it in . l..o..l..
Terry.
I got no-saled at $117, needed $122 to break out. It's a blessing in disguise, I'm sure. Another vehicle for me to put in the AARP, I haven't sold much through them ... l..o..l.....
I have no Idea what a 03 SL with 181 miles will do. I can't even tell ya what a 03 with 262 miles will roll for, it was the D. silver..2 wood pack, sunshade..$94,500 MSRP, it no-saled at $96,900 -- Oooooh, Pretty vehicle ..!
Terry.
Now, since you missed my question a couple days ago, off to your rooms! LOL.
By the way, where is Sobers ..? He's usually good for 30/40 visits a week ..l..o..l...
This is that kinda purple like color with the gray guts ..45klicks.
If it's nice (you know the routine) miles, uuh,ok - ... deep in rubber, looks 01, stands out of the crowd -- on the trade side, it should do the hi $13's low $14's -- if they swing retail, start it up at $16,500, and take that 1st $15,7/$15,9/$16,100 ... Go Chiefs ..!
Terry.
Terry.
Yeah, the car is in really nice shape. I'll let 'em know (I'm going down there next month for the Royals/Red Sox games...)
You wanna put $25 large on the 355, not a problem.
I can get you a little LTerm financing and keep your payments around $2,300 a month --- does that fly for you ...? l..o..l.. will that be cash or check ..?
Terry. :-)

I agree about the Vanden Plas, but It's more of the image thing that's the hang up. I'm still relatively young (32) and self employed. I was meeting with my banker this morning about my commercial loans, and told him I was in the car market. "No problem, send me the invoice". So I said, Jim Ellis (Porsche) will have you one over in 45 minutes. He wasn't amused. Even though the $ are very similar, a Lincoln LS won't raise eyebrows. A Jaguar will. I was formerly on the other side of the banker's desk. The image you send the banker says a lot about your chances of approval on the larger requests.
Terry - I'll go $30,000 for the Ferrari. You don't ask, You don't get. Right? (I know, I don't get...) Imagine my banker's face when I show him my almost new 355....
Thanks for the response. Super clean -- don't know what that means. The tires are so-so, but otherwise it's clean -- no dents, scratches, dings -- nothing. No cigarette burns, leather in good shape and it has all the toys. I hate to let this car go, but it has broken down 4 times since November. This last one was a blown head gasket (all covered under my extended warranty) and I have been carless for a week (single mom with a two-year-old and no family in the area) so I need something more dependable.
70K miles is a guess. I'll have to look. Is that a lot?
Color is white with grey interior. It's had two owners. The first owner was a serious car buff and he kept it very clean.
$4K seems low, according to the black book and even the blue book, actually. Is this an unpopular car? Is that in U.S. dollars?
Thanks,
Karyn
It's a 00 XLS, so I will guess the miles are in the 20's and it's super "jam up" .. right ..?
If so, the vehicle is worth in and around the $21/$22's on a trade.
I think I answered this ..?
Terry.
I do understand the Bimmer mentality (it's a gotta have) .. I also bought a 01 740iL with 7K, it's a wonderful vehicle .. at a wonderful price.
Terry. :-)

There's a couple of 2000 s40's listed at a local Volvo dealer. The invoice and msrp are as follows

NEW 2000 MODEL YEAR CARS? Who is in charge of THEIR Inventory? A Crackhead?
OK.. What, they're ex service loaners with 4-5K miles on em? Or..If they are new, like no more than a few hundred miles...
Shoosh... MAYBE they'd have a wholesale value of.. Help me here Terry... $18K maybe?
What would that car do across the block ya think? So whats retail? $20-21K?
Bill
Wanna buy my 96? I can do it for.. $90K
Hey, that SL500.. $110K

Bill
The ES300 fell thru, the hi-mile '00 I30 was gone
by the time I got to it (rats), and I think the
'95 J30 will be there for a while.
Now I'm getting ready to jump on this:
'95 Q45, gold/champagne, clean, 69k ... asking $12.9 in NoCal. I think $11.5 is more reasonable ... what do you think?
Thanks.
