Salesman said those German cars can be really expensive to have repaired. I'm not sure how that is relevant to a Volvo, which if I am not mistaken is made in Sweden. could he have perhaps been referring to the Diamlier-Chrysler?
Between a Chrysler van and a Volvo I would take the Volvo. Chrysler quality troubles are pretty well-known and the T&C/Grand Caravan did nothing to change that reputation. One of my co-workers has a 96-97 Volvo 850 T5 and he has had several problems out of it but luckily he purchased the extended warranty. So maybe you should buy the one that's most practical AND fun-to-drive (I'm assuming the Volvo is more fun to drive) and get an extended warranty and not worry about it.
..... Oooooh, purple Huh ..? How pretty .. that's got be worth a ton more money l.o.l...
Not to get into a debate on Chrysler products, that have been doing just fine, since 84 with their vans -- the dealer here is still a little whacked ..$12,900 ..? Ok, does that include the free 2wk trip to Australia for you and your family ..? He couldn't have much more than $8,9, $9,5 in it on the push. I understand it's a AWD .. but, so is my 10 speed bike.
The miles are kinda stiff, the color is Yuk, this should be bought for "around" $11 .. Tops.
The Volvo is a wagon, with a slider and the right color .. miles are Ok for the year. It's a T5 .. right ..? It doesn't matter, even if it's a GLT it's still seems like a great buy ...
I'm reading this right .. right ..? 1997 Turbo wagon with 70klicks -- nice vehicle with all the stuff -- $12,900, it's still a great deal.
Am I missing something here ..?
These are not built in Germany .. there built by some monks in Tibet. .. all handcrafted, takes 5 years just to build 1 of them. l.o.l. Duuuh, they are built in Sveden.
I'm looking at trading in my 1998 saturn SC2, dark blue, auto trans, power windows locks and sunroof,cd,and 80,000 miles. What kind of trade-in do you think I would expect from a new car dealer?
Cousin's husband looking for a used caddy. What could he expect to pay for a 2002 STD Deville with leather, No slider in Black up north where we are still getting snow on opening day (Chi-Town). Miles are about 10k whats the wholesale and retail. dealer is asking 32k.
It does look pretty clean, no french fries et al, but you're too right about the black interior in the summer. Serious quality-of-life cost there. Still, it's an unusual unit that fits pretty well. I just might pull the trigger on this one.
They're asking 26,8, so your 21/22 figure sounds about right. Think I'll throw in $23,5 and tell them to call me before they go to auction.
..... Believe it not, these vehicles are back on the "hot" list -- why ..? I have no idea.
Well, If you are going to have a Trans Am, then red is the color.
No Ram pack .. right ..?
You have the Tops ..and the 6 speed .. boom, you got some help there and the miles are low for the year.
Now here is the test -- if it's deep in rubber, "the interior is cleaner than the board of health and the exterior is twice as sanitary" .. than ..Booom, more help. If it shows like 01 and needs -0- then, you are lookin' at a vehicle that should do the $16's on a trade. If it needs stuff, paint work, seats to be repaired and some new sneakers -- then start deducting.
Didn't Burt Reynolds have one of these ..? l.o.l...
.... Start him off there .. check his pulse, and if he is still alive .. you might have to head to the "$24 and some change land". -- This has my interest, so let me know.
...... Hmmmmm, asking $32 ..? That seems cheap. Most of the ultra cleans, with 8/10/12k are doing around $30/$31 at the block. Plus with you living in Chi-Town, the black is usually a nickle bump.
I would guess that the retail end would be around $35+.
Terry, Your thoughts on what the dealer has in the above car with all the toys, leather, sunroof, etc. 50% rubber but color is black on black in the south. He is asking 11.9k. Thoughts for low ball offer cash sale? Thanks in advance,
....... Black on Black in the South (where in the south). Sounds like a "Bad day in Bedrock".
This particular vehicle doesn't have a whole lot going for it. It's waaay stiff in miles for the year, I bet its pretty though .. all cleaned up. This would be a great vehicle in Chi-town or Philly. It's a loaded up SE, Bose, leather, slider, auto (I hope) --- I would guess, with the miles, the color and the area, he is into this for $8/maybe $9 on a stretch - so at $11,9 he has it priced right.
But, I also a silly feeling that $10/$10,5 will take it home, if it's clean and a stand tall vehicle.
..... Aaah, no sale blue ..huh. ..? It's a coupe, not much help going on there ..
You have an auto going for Ya .. that's some help. It's in the land of "a lotsa miles", just north of the land of "low miles" .. l.o.l.
The Slider is on your side, especially with spring here .. The rest depends on the vehicle itself. If it has been serviced properly, new sneakers, little or no scratches or dings, and the interior doesn't look like a mud wrestling convention has just been in town -- then you should be staring at a figure that is, in and around $5ish ...
I have provided you with some more information in regards to me purchasing a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer (a program car) from a dealership. The dealership is located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
The MSRP is $29,380, dealer invoice is $26,834. Here are the options included in the car: - Exterior, oxford white clearcoat - Interior, medium parchment cloth sport bucket - overhead console - AM/FM cassette CD - Aluminum deep dish wheels 16X - 4.0L SOHC V6 Engine, 2WD - Automatic overdrive transmission - 3.55 ratio regular axle - Front license plate bracket - Goodyear tires
Unfortunately, I do not know the exact miles on the car. I plan on finding this out tomorrow.
As mentioned in my previous message, I have read that I should assign a certain value per mile (15 cents) the car was driven and deduct that amount from the invoice price.
...... Well that's one of doing it, going by X amount of bucks per mile.
But, has this vehicle been titled ..? Is this a vehicle that came from the auction ..? I know you said - "it's a Program Vehicle" - but, that can mean a lot of things to a lot of people.
Some dealers, will go and purchase a bunch of vehicle's .. and "announce" them as program cars. That in it's self is no big deal, I buy a ton of vehicles from the auctions. But the vast majority have been titled and some are MSO vehicles.
Now this is where the mileage part comes into effect .. if the dealer has purchased this Mountaineer from a Ford sale, and has let's say it has 2000 miles on it vs, let's say 20,000 miles on it - there is going to be a "huge" difference on value. Even a ball park will work.
So if, you can answer that .. this will be a simple one.
By the way .. thanks for all the info on the vehicle -- I wish everyone gave that much info l..o..l......
..... l..o..l... Well I just answered my own questions. -- I went back and read your post again.
25k, sorry .. I was having a "blonde moment" ... If I had been paying attention, I wouldn't have missed Mickelson blow the putt on 18, and cough it up to Parnevik --- that Sugarloaf is one tuff course.
Well anyway, your vehicle I'm sure has been titled -- waaay to many miles for a "program" vehicle. I'm sure this one has been bought either at auction or at a Ford sale (same thing) ...
Forget all that MSRP stuff ... basically this is a base type vehicle, no AWD, no V8 .. no big big toys, but still a nice vehicle.
The dealer paid somewhere "in and around" $20 and change for it. So, by the time he get's it home, he might have $21 in it. You should be able to take this home for $22/$22,500 plus the taxes and stuff. These are popular ..and plentiful, and this one can replaced on a phone call ...
I am trying to get a realistic trade in valve for my 1992 Honda Accord LX. It has 96,000 miles with power windows, brakes and locks. It does have a dent in the hood and shows some normal wear and tear for a 10-year old car, no rust but some scratches. It has about five cigarette burns in the seats from a previous owner. The tires have abouts 40,000 miles on them. I just recently had the brakes done and has have always had regular oil changes. Any ideas?
...... Gheeeez, your another one -- 40k on the tires ..? I never see that kind of mileage, me .. I'm lucky to see 25k.
But anyway, it's a 92 LX and the miles aren't bad for the year. Did I read automatic - Aaah, no.
On a trade, I think you are look in' at $2,5 maybe $3 -- Me, personely .. I would clean it up, make it look like a diamond, run a nice, clear ad for $4,500 and let someone slap me around til I said $4 ...
with all the talk about black over black cars being the kiss of death in the south how bad does it affect my SI considering it was only made in red, blue, and black and it only comes with a black interior?
you said you wanted an update so here it is..took your advice and took out a good size ad and priced it at what you said and not a call....not a big deal.. the market here is bad for Saab as you said. Was car shopping this weekend and was offered $21k for my trade and a 2dr Accord EX V6 at invoice....not hard to guess which one is in my garage now is it? Once again thanks for your help.
I'm a southern belle in the heart of yankee Atlanta.
They sure are giving some great deals on the 02 Accords. Gotta start making room for the 03's I guess. One of my fiance's co-workers just bought a 2002 EX 2-door automatic for $23,000???? I bet that dealer was smiling as she walked out. Another co-worker of his bought a V6 Coupe for less than that.
...... Sooo, your an Atlanta gal, surrounded by all those Yankee's - l.o.l....
As far as the black color goes in that area .. they are worth (depending on the vehicle) anywhere from $500/$1,500+ less at trade time. The Si, unless they have a immediate "Yankee" buyer .. would take about a $500 hit, sell the vehicle in N.York and it's worth probably $500 more - that's a $1,000 swing.
You certainly didn't see many at Sugarloaf yesterday, that's for darn sure. .. l.o.l.
Just curious about it because since I bought the SI 3 people have offered to buy it. I knew they were popular but didn't think they were in that much of a demand.
I am hoping that the rumor that Acura will dispose of the 3.2CL will bring the prices down. I would love to have a Type-S 6-speed since it looks like finding a Legend GS 6-speed will be almost impossible. And if the CL doesn't happen next choice is a 528 w/ the Sport package and a 5-speed. Another car I haven't been able to find in the right color.
responding to 6394, abseller. Thought this was already posted, but I can't find it. I am in MA. My 96 grand caravan is the new body style. 3.0 L, 100kmi, driver side slider, ac/cassette, tinted windows. some parking lot scratches, needs rear brake job. This is why I entered it as in average condition.
58,500mi, base model pickup (with cd player), 20k on these tires, kept up with oil changes, some wear and tear on paint..stripping flecking. Interior looks great, non smoker. Owe 6300, have cash to cover some 'inequity', what is reasonable wholesale value.
Hello, What is the value of a 95 Prelude VTEC? Black with black leather, ABS/ 5-spd(No auto even available) very straight body, all maintenance, new tires (originals went 50k!) brakes are good. Car now has 61,000 miles. I am second owner and it was very hard to find.
58,500mi, base model pickup (with cd player), 20k on these tires, kept up with oil changes, some wear and tear on paint..stripping flecking. Interior looks great, non smoker. Owe 6300, have cash to cover some 'inequity', what is reasonable wholesale value.
Oh please don't send me to my room. I have a very general question that no one may want to answer, but I feel this is the best place to ask.
I am looking for an Extended Cab, Full-size, 4wd pick-up. It's hard shopping, Most slightly used and loved go bw 22-24k. Hard for me to pay that much with 0 warranty. They still want 12-15k for 100,000 milers, really hard to swallow. am I better off to buy new?
New or used which do you recommend for reliability and value. Please don't recommend the Avalanche that may be the biggest hunk of garbage I've ever driven. Even if they are giving them away.
Can someone give me an accurate price for a 98 Chrys. Concorde Lxi. A local car dealer has a white, fully loaded Lxi with 44,000m. The car is clean and is located in central FL. car dealer. What would be a really good deal? The car is equipped with leather int. and the 3.2L engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
...... The color is right for FL, the miles are just ok for the year. No slider right ..?
I'm thinkin' it has the tan interior .. the Infinity and all the toy's that come with a LXI.
If it's as clean as you say it is .. new sneakers, little or no dings -- just a jam-up vehicle all the way around, then this vehicle is probably retailed out at $10,900. I think $9,5/$10 will drop it in your driveway.
Chevy/GMC z71, tundra access cab 4x4, or the f150.
Is it worth the effort in finding a used one I can handle. You know low low miles still some warranty, but more than 1000 cheaper than a new one. Or with all the rebates and incentives flying around should I go new?
I need some advice again. I saw this dealer advertisement in the paper yesterday selling a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer for $23,988 (MSRP 29,380, Rebate $1,500, Dealer discount $3,892).
I called the dealership this morning to find out how many miles the car had and the dealer told me the car has 4 miles. It's a standard vehicle, similar to the one that I discussed with you yesterday. The dealer invoice is $26,834.
Here are the options included in the car: - cloth interior - overhead console - AM/FM cassette CD - Aluminum deep dish wheels 16X - 4.0L SOHC V6 Engine, 2WD - Automatic overdrive transmission - 3.55 ratio regular axle - Front license plate bracket - Goodyear tires
Anyway, the sales rep said the car is not a program car. I still can't believe that the dealer would sell this car way below invoice ($26,834) when it has only 4 miles.
I checked the history of the vehicle on Carfax and its clean. Is it possible something else is wrong with this car? Maybe the sales rep is not being honest with me about the miles??
....... Kinda keep in mind .. this is a nice vehicle, but certainly not the top of the line, it's their base model - a price leader. And If you look close, that will include the Ford Loyalty bonus that is an Xtra $5/$700 (but, you have to qualify)
I have bought probably 14/15 Mountaineers since Xmas. The vast majority of those, where the ones with the tow pack, slider, leather, heated seats, chromes, r. boards, climate ctrl, V8, AWD, 6 pack cd ..and of course my favorite little toy, those cute little back-up beep beeps ..l.o.l.. those sticker for around $36.
So based on the Ad you are lookin' at, the dealer will sell that vehicle for:
$23,988
$1,500 rebate
$ 700 loyalty bonus
_________
$26,188 Does he want to get rid of a bare bones 2WD model ----- Oooh yea ..!
It's the $35/$36 Vehicles that most people are on the hunt for.
Now is this the same one we have been talking about ..? Either way, if this is new with 6 miles on it, for that price .. then grab it if you like it -- that's a great deal.
Or, take door number 2 .. buy one with 2/3/4k on it and save yourself a few thousand, and take a trip to Cancun.
This is actually a different one. The one that I spoke of yesterday is being sold from another dealership. It is program car and has about 25,000. Same options, just more miles.
Thanks for the information. I will go out and take a look at the car.
I have a dark green 1999 Sienna XLE (comes very loaded) in Missouri with 56,xxx miles; extras include Leather seats, Tow Package, Moonroof, Power sliding door. Very good condition interior, all season mats all over protected the carpet, looks like new. Small nicks on hood. Michelin x-ones with 15k on them. Any help on a trade in value, appreciated. Trading to an Acura or Lexus dealer. Clean accident history.

You in the Northeast, right?
Methinks right around $2,500-2,700 as a trade in.
So detail it up, put it in the paper for $4,950/bo and grab $4200+

If its otherwise really nice.. $3,500ish.. if its not, start deducting...

Terry, he's either gonna deck me or have to rent a steam shovel
This is, if really nice, a $3,000 truck as a trade-in.
$6,300 payoff?

Are you looking for a Chevy? Dodge? Ford?
Me? I hate trucks. Sorry, but I do. That being said, that new Dodge is really cool looking!
So.. gimme more info!!!

Is it just bang-up like new? No paint applied since the land of Sushi? (Can I say that?)
