..... Wow ..! $9,000 for a 98 with 136klicks .. really ..? Good for him ..!
He will have that ride til "doomsday" ...
Kinda keep in mind, you can ask anything your little heart desires for anything ... and sometimes, people do .. l.o.l... I'm sure you have read some of the posts of "crazy prices" dreamers ..
But as time goes on .. and it becomes a planter about Sept, that's when the lights go on, and the seller thinks "Duh .. is this price too high ..?"
Let's say, it was a "jam up" Super Doll, with 40k. The most you would want to ask, would be around $13ish and see the $11's --- 136k .. and needs a bunch of stuff ..? Naaah, not in this life time .. If you like the vehicle, and you feel comfortable with it, I feel $6,0 would be the absolute ETW, even at that figure you have $4/$5/$600 yet to go, just make it like a real vehicle .. l.o.l...
..... I didn't see that nice little word in there -- Auto.
So, the miles are low, big help -- and it's a long bed, kinda rare, more help. Let's start thinkin' $7,5 ish on a trade. That's if it's clean, nice and needs -0- .. if not start deducting ..
Gotta buddy who's looking to sell his Focus. Details are:

He's getting prices from $6800 to $8000 wholesale, and of course KBB is out at like $9000. He's hoping for $11,000 retail but I dunno.
Ha, i just got off the phone with him....he's adamant...for now!
Although, i still kinda think you're hitting these cars kinda hard. ebay just sold (if they 'took'), a 97 with 105k for 10,500, and a 98 with 41,000 miles for 15,900!
My neighbor is on Ebay with a 1985 MFG, 22ft cuddy cabin, with a single Volvo drive -- with 900 hrs. The last time this boat saw a service, wax and a cleaning , was when G. BUSH Sr. was president .... he's asking $15,900 too, and it needs a l i t t l e bit more, than $600 that's for sure .... l.o.l..
.... Ok, we have a Jetta GLS with the slammin' 6 in it .. and looow miles.
These are popular vehicles ..and they sell well .. take away the kisses, and you should be in and around the low to mid $14's -- what price were you hit at ..?
My girl friend is looking to sell her car and was just wondering how much she could get for it on a trade.
1995 lebaron GTC convertible 86k miles red exterior/black interior power windows/locks cd player replaced transmission paint in pretty good shape some surface scratches might need some suspension work has a dent on the left rear but said she would fix it before sold (not sure if she will)
For the sake of discussion...i think the difference in values of those GSX's (yours vs ebay) is simply proof that ebay offers exposure to a nationwide market revealing new profit opportunities.
Anyway,
What do you think of a 1990 V8 Quattro? It's silver/blue leather and clean in NE with 113k miles.
Can you advise of any costly weaknesses to guard against?
...DON'T get the V8 quattro! Them things have parts that other cars don't even know about... do you know what a "Bomb" is? Me neither, but them Audis have 'em, and they break, and they're very 'spensive. Alternators? $1200 from the dealer... A friend of mine's got one in the garage, hasn't run for awhile... because he needs to replace the "center bearing" of the drive shaft. Why does the drive shaft need a center bearing? Glad you asked.... I"m sure Klaus the engineer give you a 10-minute reason why it's a good idea. Too bad the entire exhaust system has to be dropped to get to it. I'll stop here but I can go on for 1/2 an hour like that... but there may be children present.
And all that is just on the regular quattro; the V8 (really two VW 4cyl joined at the crank) has a whole new set of problems.
..... The Audi's of today .. and the Audi's of 10+ years ago are from different planets, totally..
Let's Thank Mathias for some of the major point's .. .. one small point is, that little deal called an "air conditioner", $1,200 for the part and only $600 to have it put on (my cost, a guy on the street will pay about $1,000+ more) ... I have had the wonderful opportunity to take a few 5000's in on trade .. Ouch.!
This is no reflection on the new ones, which I do love ...
IF -- it's clean, maintenance is 100% and it needs -0- , the color is great for all the Chi-town hustlers, the 97k won't hurt it.
If it looks 99ish ... and it stands tall, then you should be in and around that $6+ figure on a trade. Street side, an easy $8,999 in the paper and $7,5/$8,500 takes it out of your driveway ... but, you are going that clutch fixed first ...Right ..?
Peachtree City 4:18pm ----> Dr Phillips, Orlando.. 10:31pm Including a stop for Gas/Pizza/2 Cokes/Smokes and a stop to get rid of the Cokes...
Might be a record... Even with more Revenue Cops on the road today than I could shake a Valentine One at!
Twas a nice Drive... Thank god I picked up a Baby Doll 560SEL... No Ifs, Ands or Buts about it.. them is the best Road Cars ever made ever. Period. And Grandpa is doing MUCH better, Thanks Terry
Oh well, back to work and to read the arguing in Smart Shopperthat I missed... haha!
The family owned 3 of these babies back in the day.
A 1990 that I loved when it ran, replaced by a 1991 after I wrecked it, and that was replaced by a 5-speed that I found.
Wonderful cars to drive. They cost more than you can imagine to fix. And we owned these in like 1990-1993ish.
Oh yeah.. suuure.. go buy a 100K miler V8 that's, what? 12 years old? Park it next to a 1984 Maserati BiTurbo, A 1988 XJ6, A 1992 600SEL and a 1988 750iL and You may as well hook your wallet directly to your local Euro Repair shop via an IV.
Wonderful cars. But they were always breaking 10 years ago.. I would be terrified of a 12yr old High-Miler.
Want a nice cheap Audi? 1992+ 100S.. those are at least decent.
If you buy that car you can go to your room until the Cubs win the World Series again.
About those Audis.. Any and all maintenance, from changing radiator fluid to installing a new timing belt: Step 1 is to take the front bumper off. No access, no clearance otherwise. There's a sensor in the fuel-injection system... it's in the engine compartment, right by the pass. side fender.. to replace it, remove the quarter panel. If your 5000 fails to turn over the starter motor, fear not: ignition on, put 'er in reverse, walk to the back of the car. Most likely, the backup lights are off, and that means, you need to replace the cable assembly that goes through the trunk lid... for some reason, an important part of the engine control system is routed through there! I have a buddy at work who has two (2) 1987 Audi 5000s. I usually get the play-by-play Monday morning. Hilarious, so long as it's not me. BTW, Terry, I'd have to disagree.. the new ones are from the same planet as the old ones... on the newer A6 I'm told, if it doesn't want to start, wiggle the pass. side sun visor... because there's some important wires passing through THAT as well... this I don't know first-hand, but I believe it... check CR; high rate of electrical problems... subpar reliability.
Now, with all this said, if I had time like I used to, and if I had a good mechanic to work on the car when I can't do it, I'd probably own one or two 5000s... (and a Toyota, just in case). Because they're pretty close to a Mercedes E-Class for 1/3 the price; they're galvanized and won't rust; the quattro system is pure magic; and they're really cool cars. The 5000 (or 100, as it was known in Germany at the time) was a real quantum leap for Audi. It was the first car to achieve a c_d of 0.30 (air resistance), it got phenomenal gas mileage because of it, and it had the quattro system.... I still remember Walter Roehrl driving to a 3rd place in the Word Rally Championship in the late 80s on a "200" turbo quattro sedan.... everybody else who placed in the top 10 that year drove a pocket rocket Lancia with AWD and huge horsepower due to some rule changes... Roehrl was the best driver at the time and almost won in a "family sedan"... the 5000 is a really special car, no doubt about it.
We have a professor at work who used to own a 5000q and now has an A6q... he was asked, would you trade your A6 for a factory new 5000? and he really had to think about it for awhile... that should tell you something.
To blackcurrant, in light of your profile: Buy one if you like but don't be surprised if you wind up using the Lord's name in vain on occasion...
...... I thought I saw an MB sticker burning down I95 ..
Speaking of Benz's .. run this up the flag pole and see what you think.
91 MB 350 SDL, 141k, new brakes by Benz, new Mich's all the way around, every service in the book, and then some. Rear seat doesn't look like it's even been sat in -- on a 1-10 .. 8.50. blue on blue, drives like new. Scratch lower body panel, rear drivers side, about the size of a cigarette lighter, some surface wear and the rest will come out with a real deal detailer.
Oooooohhhhhhh!!!! Thems are goooooood Merchandise!
It's easily a $7,500 car... maybe $8K if it was nice... Wait.
Is it Baby Blue metallic or that Midnight Blue?
The 86 300SDLs are better cars though (350s can have engine problems a la leaking injectors... they cause hydro-lock and slightly bend the con-rods causing em to run rough... that'll be $7K to fix please!)
I'm trying to get an idea of what to ask for my car, private party. It's a 1996 black Ford Explorer Sport 2WD auto, Sport trim line. 80k miles. Leather, power everything, every option. Well-maintained, two minor parking lot kisses. Custom rims, running boards, exhaust, almost new Mich. rubber. What should I ask/be happy with?
A side question...a VERY expensive stereo system is custom installed in the truck. Eclipse HU, Diamond Hex speakers, PPI amps, JL subs, etc. Retail price around 4k not including labor. I could sell off in pieces for $1000-$1500. What's my best course of action here? I DO have all OEM pieces (speakers, head unit, changer) in a closet.
..... For starters, get all the Xtra stereo stuff out. It won't draw but a few hundred bucks .. if that.
I'm not saying it doesn't sound nice and cool, but folks just don't care much .. they are there to buy a vehicle. The other Add's will take care of themselves so, you have some help going on there.
We just had a person post with a Vette., with $5,000 worth of add on's, has had like no response ... it's not that they aren't quality pieces, they are. Folks will come over and Oooh and Aaah, but their vehicle is still down the street - as a rule, for every dollar that you "add on", that's a dollar you loose in re-sale value .... That's obstacle 1.
Obstacle 2 is, it's a 2wd .. and a bunch of miles. The 2wd will sell now, cus' it's spring --- on the retail side you should start it up at $6,900 and let some nice Rocket Scientist take it off your hands for $5,5/$6,5.
I have a 1994 Ford Explorer XLT with 155,000 miles. It has leather seats, flip-up sunroof, roof rack, air/power/cruise. However, last week, it blew the head gasket and I don't know if I should fix it and try to sell it on my own or try to trade it. Any ideas? Will anyone want it? I hate to lose everything I have in it! Please advise.
...but if I see another profile with "I live in... USA", I'm gonna scream. I mean, we're all nuts here, and if someone posts with a nice Bimmer that they want reasonable $$ for, I'd like to know where the silly car is... if it's in Toledo, I mihgt take a road trip, ya know?
Privacy is nice and all, but why not at least put your home state in the profile???
Okay, It is a 95.5 Isuzu Rodeo. S model 4wd, V6, 5spd manual, 80K mi, all power accessories, CD, Aftermarket oversize tires/wheels, white with grey interior, very clean in and out. Thanks to any and all for your input.

I loved those Merkur's. Plenty different than what you normally see on the road. And that double-stack rear wing was cool.
Ford Sierra Cosworth's are primo theft bait in England. It's sorta got the rep there as the "tough guy/Tony Soprano crew" car. Imagine the biker image but for a car.
Well, Dad was at the auction tonight.. saw it and called me all psyched... I think it was worth it.. eh?
Drives like a dream...I drove it home tonight. Why the heck didn't they sell more of these things? Compared to an 88 BMW 325es or something.. it makes a damn strong argument... And they were a lot cheaper too I think. Ihave the original sticker.. right at $21K and it has leather, roof and Automatic.
..... I Picked it up from a private owner for $8,5, it's not blue, it's that metallic gray/black. When I get back north, I will decide what to do with it... l..o..l...
I guess I would be thinkin' about $1,5/$2,0 on the Merkur (if it's a baby doll) .. a 89, ran last month and did around $3,5 with 40k. These are few and faaaar between .... so, pick a number.

..... Man, the miles are like ... super low. Is this a 4 .. or a 6cyl ..?
If it's a 6, he's lookin' in and around that $14 figure on trade. On Retail road in the Denver area, $16,950 and he should see $16/$16,5 -- He should get A L L the jingle for this one, no matter which way he goes. -- IF, it's clean, nice and needs -0- ..

1988 Merkur XR4Ti Champage/Beige Leather. FREEZING Air, Knee Deep in Dunlops, new new new... Slider..etc.
Car is totally stock and unmolested. Nicest one I have seen since I was in High School.
66K One-Owner miles.
As truly nice as one exists.
How much?
Bill
Of course, I VERY rarely see those in IL, where the rust will kill the car, or the potholes will eat them for lunch.

I read an article that said that 30% of them had been stolen at one point in their lives!

I guess I would be thinkin' about $1,5/$2,0 on the Merkur (if it's a baby doll) .. a 89, ran last month and did around $3,5 with 40k. These are few and faaaar between .... so, pick a number.

Friend of mine in Denver is making a move....
1998 Toyota Tacoma SR5 TRD Supercab, 5 sp, 4 wheel drive.
Mileage- 30,430
Usual options (AC, ABS, tilt, power windows, dual airbags, autolocking hubs, alloy rims, 31" tires), including a topper and a bedliner. No accidents, interior in great shape.
Dark Green in color.
Thanks,
Mike
If it's a 6, he's lookin' in and around that $14 figure on trade. On Retail road in the Denver area, $16,950 and he should see $16/$16,5 -- He should get A L L the jingle for this one, no matter which way he goes. -- IF, it's clean, nice and needs -0- ..
Gheeez, where was this vehicle last month ...? I might have been out to see your friend .. l..o..l...
Good luck ...
Terry.
On the trade side, in and around $4ish ..
