99 chev. s-10, 4 cyl auto, a/c, ps, pb,33
k miles, no sale green, a few parking lot
scars and scrapes in the bed, good rubber,
located in Syracuse NY.............Geo
If it's a "stand tall" vehicle -- clean to the bone, no leather wears, no meteorite hit's, no invasions, looks and drives like a 02 .. then it's gotta be worth $11, clean ones at the block will pull that and more .. uuugh, you need to have Sis straighten em' out ..
By the way, those Foresters are nice little vehicles .. a little goofy lookin', but great AWD vehicles - Good choice.
Good luck ...
Terry.

Terry.
We have 100klicks .. low for the year, we got cold breeze, based on what you are saying it .. sounds nice and clean a few bumps and lumps here and there and snow men for tires.
These vehicles are still Very popular .. IF the interior is ultra NICE, the outside is lookin' 98ish, no burns, no skid marks and has been cleaned more than once or twice since Bill Clinton made President, no rust and paint is 95% .. then you are lookin' at, in and around that $3,8/$4,2 on a trade ---
If you go down Retail Rd., have it detailed make it look like a diamond (you should be doing this even if you decide to trade .. $100 will make you $500+) .. nice big "fat daddy" Ad in your area for $6,900 and you should see $5,8/$6,2 ... if it needs a this and a that, start deducting ..
Good luck ...
Terry.
Whats the difference in $24ish ..? as far as value ..?
I hope I read this right -- If a dealer is paying, let's say $24ish .. that could mean that they are paying "around" $23,8/$24,2/$24,8 at the block. Then by the time they pay the auction fee $300 or so, transport $150 or so, service when it hit's the lot .. $300, have it "certified" around $700, pack - "around" $300 ....
Soooo, what that all means is: A dealer pays, lets say $24,200 for a specific vehicle, Add all the above, and that comes to $25,250 of "real money" he has in the vehicle. He needs to see at Least $26 .. and more like $26,5, to make it worth his while to sell the vehicle.
I hope I answered your question .. if not, I will be more than happy to go over it with you and tell me what I missed.
Terry :-)
Got it ...?
Get it ..!
Terry ;-)
How much does the mileage change the value of one of these? Lets say compare one with 35k miles and this one with 60k+, both clean, no body work, similar options. What is the difference, trade-in and retail? I have seen a few at our local Lexus dealership in the past month, prices in the low-to-mid 30's, same setup as the one at Nissan.
thanks again,
Brent
locks, or tilt. Dealers are anywhere from
3800 to 5500 bucks. How much if I sell
myself ?....................geo
The miles, will hold this one back a little .. on a trade, If it's nice and clean inside and out - the mid to high $14's or so ..
Terry.
Terry.
Who ordered that one - The Marquis de Sade ..?
Grab that $5,5 .. --- like yesterday -- !
OR -- On the retail side, $7,9 .. and $6,6/$6,8/7,0 takes it home ...
Terry.
I hope this helps ...

OK guys...I've got the old "fix or sell as-is" dilemma. My '94 Accord Coupe is exhibiting signs of the dreaded Honda Fender Rot (rust appearing where the rear fender meets the bumper cover.) So. The age-old question: When I go to eventually trade this car in in about a year, would it be worth my while to have it fixed? For reference, it's a '94 LX coupe, 5 speed (natch, the only way to buy a Honda) with 115k on the clock. It's in really good shape, minus the aforementioned rust and the also Honda-typical paint chippage on the hood (made worse 'cause it's black.) I'd keep this car to 200k or more, but as it's a coupe, getting Lancer 2.0 (and eventually, Lancer 3.0; nothing in the works yet, but you never know...) in and out of the back is a real pain. What say the experts? Is it worse to have rust, or what I predict will be obvious paintwork?
It's the straight 6
Rear Bench seats 3 No major engine problems, 83k miles.
Anyway, it's all good now. That other dealer had irritated me, so I wasn't going to pay them anymore than I had to, then they backed out of their own deal in the works, so that's fine with me. I'll find a better pvt, or better rep/shop somewhere else and understand the numbers better this time.
Thanks again.

Any idea what a black 1994 Honda Prelude VTEC 5spd with 100500 miles would get in a trade? I'm a non-smoker in central florida, the car has leather, pwr sunroof, stock AM/FM cassette. Interior looks good. Just had the timing belt/water pump replaced and the shop said that the engine/tranny/breaks were in good condition. Front tires are fairly new >10K miles. Issues with the car are dings and scratches on both flanks - think parking lots and SUV doors. The rear window trim is brittle and starting to fall apart. One of the rear speakers is blown. If you can see anything in this list I should get fixed before trade in please comment. Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
Mike
It has some dings and "kisses" .. sounds like nothing major, seems like you have been up on the maintenance .. got some newer sneakers and the rest is just plain "all wear" and I'm sure, the air will blow you out .. right.?
The big, bad killer here is: the Color.
You are from FL .. and black "anythings" just don't sell (unless it's in a showroom. .l.o.l.) .. it's the kiss of death, it's 115 with the heat index.
It sounds like a $3/$3,5 vehicle to me on a trade .. .. You may want to clean this puppy up, make it look like a 99, have all the little stuff done, drop it in the Orlando paper in a nice, big 5 liner Ad for $6990 .. and you should see $5,0/$6,0 ..
Good Luck ...
Terry.
Thanks for the quick response on my 99 Buick Century value. You said ultra high 7's, maybe 8. 7800 was the offer made to me, BUT the Avalon was already gone, actually sold before the ad hit the paper, but too late to pull ad. This is a reputable place and I believe them, actually it was sold to the owners neighbor, according to the salesman. They did try to sell me another Buick, hence the offer, but I will continue looking for a late model Avalon as I really like them. Thanks again.
Tom
Good luck ...
Terry.
I will bet he will kick that puppy dog off the lot, so fast, for $6,5, it would cause the Niagara to back up ..l.o.l.

Terry.
I'll bet you can sell that car for more than $7000. Definitely sell it privately and DON'T trade it in!
Terry...I apologize and didin't mean to undermind your opinion.
2001 Prelude Type SH, 2022 Highlander XLE AWD, 2025 Camry SE AWD
Like I said, retail that puppy .. he's in Florida and he get's like, No help cuz of the color.. Ebay it, whatever, that will work.
Terry.
Thanks in advance.
- leather on driver's seat coming apart on left side of sitting area
- a few nicks and dings in the paint, nothing major
- paint glossy, except for one part in the back between rear fender and roof. It's strangely dull, but the paint isn't chipping off, and there is no rust.
- One of the speakers in the door is rattling at high volume
- ABS light comes on intermittently every couple of weeks, but goes out when engine is turned off.
Edmund's TMV for a clean vehicle says $2,218 for trade-in, and KBB says $2,235. Is this what I can realistically expect, even with the blemishes I listed? Thanks.
2000 Honda Accord EXV6 (Sedan)
Color:Signet Silver (Grey/Dark Silver)
Miles:15,200
Location:Orange County, CA (So Cal)
Looks like an '02. One minor (barely visible) door ding, and one paint chip on the hood. (Bought the Honda full nose mask after that, and haven't got any more) I'll probably get the door ding fixed if I can do it cheap. I'm guessing I'd get more for it after all the '02's that are selling below invoice are gone and the '03's are out. (Which is what I want)
Thanks for the great service both of you provide!

The miles are not your friend here .. and unfortunaltly, Hyundai's are Very Soft on the market. But, if it's nice .. knee deep in rubber and as clean as you say it is, then you should be in and around the $6's figure on a trade.
Terry.
I have a green 1993 Mazda MX6 4-cylinder automatic. Power windows, power locks, 6-Disc CD Changer, A/C working properly, sliding sunroof working properly, factory radio works well. Has 96,000 miles. Paint is peeling badly, and the body has numerous dints and dings on the side and door panels. Also, there is a 3"x3" rust spot where the paint has peeled off above the left rear wheel. Other than the horrible cosmetic appearence, the car runs well, has been kept up-to-date on service, and has decent tires. Thanks!!

One major mechanical problem: ABS computer is bad (brakes still work but not with ABS est cost of replacement is 800.00 from dealer.
We went to the Suburu dealer, we all drove her new potential purchase (Forestor) actually a pretty nice SUV, has me thinking. So it was the typical, let me talk with the Mgr stuff and no, your trade is only worth $10,000 stuff, then finally $10,500
So just like you said, we put sis to work, she drags the Mgr outside and say's, "show me one of your 00 or 01, 02's that's as nice and as clean as the Sable we are trading" he had to agree, they had nothing on the lot, (including a few new ones) that were as clean, well maintained as her car. So she got the $11,000 for her car and bought the new Forestor for $500 over invoice (which we thought was very fair) and off we went.
Just a big thanks for all your help, we missed you the last time you were in Philly., but we would love to buy you a burger or something!
As always, Thanks.
