.... Gheeez, that love affair didn't last long ..l.o.l. time to get rid of it .. huh?
Color is important on these, so I'm gonna just "say" it's silver. The miles are stiff for the year, so you get no help there .. it's got all the tunes and wood trappings.
If it still looks new, no kisses, no paint, no "clowns" in the seats and carpets .. then you should be in and around that $29 figure maybe $30 on a push ...
..... Fist in the fender ..? Isn't that a movie ..? Or was that that a "Fistful of Dollars".
Well anyway, the miles aren't that bad for the year .. the color is good, as long as this thing is still sharp lookin', paint is "all there", no hit's, skips or errors .. then you should be in and around that $3,5/$4,0 figure on a trade ..
I have a green 1993 Mazda MX6 4-cylinder automatic. Power windows, power locks, 6-Disc CD Changer, A/C working properly, sliding sunroof working properly, factory radio works well. Has 96,000 miles. Paint is peeling badly, and the body has numerous dints and dings on the side and door panels. Also, there is a 3"x3" rust spot where the paint has peeled off above the left rear wheel. Other than the horrible cosmetic appearence, the car runs well, has been kept up-to-date on service, and has decent tires. Thanks!!
I am looking at a used car in the 6-$7000 price that I want to keep for 2-3 years. I drive 10-12k miles a year and want to be able to trade the car in for about $2000 at the end. I've come across 2 cars in North Jersey:
1999 Chevy Prizm LSi gold w/dark interior 48,000 mi. options:alloy wheels, sunroof, cd player, p/w, side airbags, tilt wheel and either the 3spd. or 4spd. auto, not sure. No-ABS. Listed between $6000-6500 in 2 different ads.
1998 Olds Intrigue GL 54,297 mi. white w/tan leather interior. old school 3800 series II V6 engine. Only option is leather interior. Its been on the lot a while and they've dropped the price several times, it's now $6495. This lot sells used cars pretty quickly so I wonder why they haven't taken it to auction.
I know you guys like the Prizm and reliability is an issue but I sort of like the extra power & roominess of the Intrigue as well as the ABS. Any opinions on which is the better buy and what I should pay.
Terry could you please give me an idea of what a fair trade in value would be for the following vehicle?
Location: Frederick, MD 21701 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager SE 110,000 miles Power windows, locks Integrated child seats Automatic V6 Rear AC Cruise Control Intermittent Wipers Privacy glass
Although the van is still drivable and in good aesthetic condition, the transmission needs to be replaced. And my mechanic also thinks it is burning oil and will need a head job sometime soon. So instead of putting $3K into it to fix all of that I will probably get a new car. Wondering if I could get much at all on trade in or should I just sell it myself. Any opinions would be helpful.
GMC Jimmy 1994 4-door SLT with 4WD Dark green paint, shiny Black Leather Interior(never smoked in), power seat driverside 73K Miles in Chicago/Michigan where salty bumpy roads are the norm Well optioned (for 94)- cruise, tilt, PW, PL, ABS, Rear wiper, cargo shade, swing-out spare, remote door lock fob(s),alarm (NOT factory), auto, 4.3 FI(Vortec) V6 , apperance package wheels (smokey gray).
NO SLIDER, nice hard roof with rack, no scratches -- probably never had a thing up top. No trailer hitch.
Rubber is 10months/7K miles old. Brakes serviced 2months ago. Battery is 2months old.
Body is good, only small amount of blistery rust near wheel wells--would take alot of effort to totally eliminate, yet is only cosmetic (as opposed to say rust on tailgate or near glass which leads to leaks etc)
Seller is private party with maintence records. They want a newer more modern vehicle.
Added items are: 31" A/T tires GPS stereo that is voice activated overhead console from explorerthat displays n,s,e,w and temp spray in bed liner dual exhaust carbon fiber dash trim altezza euro tail lights clear front lights
.... The miles are low for the year, it's a 4x4 .. and it seems you have all those Big, new tires, plus all the "Star Trek" stuff -- to a Dealer this stuff means about -0- and the handshaker kills it ..
This is about a $6,0ish truck on a trade -- But, all in all, it sounds nice and this might do best on Retail Rd. Detail this puppy out, make it look like a diamond inside and out and through it in the biggest, baddest paper in your area with a nice 5 liner for $9,950 and you should see $8,5/$9,5 ..
..... It's a 00, it's a TL, it's an ok color, it's a TL, it has 28k so the miles are right for the year, it's a TL. I'm sure you get the idea. .l.o.l..
If this dude is still clean, inside and out, deep in rubber and lookin' 03.. then you should be in and around $20,0 on a trade.
I want to trade this one in for a smaller truck. I bought it in Dec. '01 and have 7000 on the odo. Came with all options, I just added cust chrome wheels and tires. My question: Running the numbers shows a wide gap btw trade in and dealer resale: $40820 v $49385. What is the best course of action? Wait until 03s are out or sell now?
Looking at potentially purchasing a "certified" 2000 Toy 4Runner SR5 4x4. Here's the specs:
Desert Dune in color (where do they come up with these names?!)
39500 miles (Western PA) Power Locks Power Windows am/fm cassette cruise tilt a/c alloy wheels slider roof rack running boards appearance is pretty good, but not completely spotless (small ding on door)
They are asking for around 27000
What should I offer? (other than arm, leg, and next born child)
I had some free time today and I hear the radio ad for the GSA auction open to the public tomorrow at the Gateway Auto Auction in Granite City, IL, so I take my pager and cell phone and hop in the Buick for a ride back to Illinois.
First I've got to say, I've been to junk yards with better cars. Well at least the ones that appear to be littered around the place. Man, there is some junk left lying around that place.
The GSA cars don't seem too bad. Most are 2-4 years old and around 25K to 75K miles, with some exceptions, of course.
So we have a '99 Contour GL with I4, automatic, A/C, PW, PL, ABS and AM/FM 438xx ticks on the clock, the usual wear and tear.
Light Blue is the color, and the rubber is mid-calf, but not quite an anklet yet. AC blows cold, and no strange noises when you turn the wheel from side to side.
No strange noises when the engine runs, nor smells or smoke.
The big unknown is of course the tranny since you can't move 'em. They don't even want them outta park.
I thought I might show up tomorrow and see what this thing (and the other things) go for.
If I got a wild hair and wanted to bid, and I were spending your money, where should I stop?
Ok guys I'm still looking Louisville, Ky area 34k miles 4.6 v8 Dark Red exterior/ gray interior xlt package auto/power seat/tow package. some small exterior scratches/ interior excellent talked to original owner gave good recommendation dealer asking $16,995. Where should I be on this. THANKS
..... It's a 98 with 34klicks .. wow, no miles for the year. Right color for the area and it's XLT ...
Hmmm, it's got ultra low miles .. tow pack, all the right stuff, plus it an Ecab. Probably had to pay at Least $12 or so to get it. So let's say, he paid $12,5 -- a this and a that, a little service, detail, some rubber, add the pack of, let's say $300 ..and Wango Tango he has like $13,3/$13,6 in it -- If he can't make at least $1,500 on it, he won't give it up, with it being new on the lot .. let's figure $14,7/$14,9/$15,2 or so, plus the TTL should take it home ...
..... It's a 99 with a 4 banger, not the most wanted, the 24 V6 is the hot ticket and worth about a ghee whiz more.
ABS ..? special order, that's good. it's a GL ..? You mean a LX, or perhaps in fleet sales in 99, the still stamped em' a GL ... Hmmmm.
Well anyway, miles are ok for the year, if it's all there, I would think "double nickels" would be just about it .. IF, you had to, and you like it bunches and bunches, $6 grand would be the ETW (end of the world) .. I bet it does $6,5, though.
it is an LX. I didn't look at the badge closely, so it has to be an LX since that, SE and SVT were the only flavors that year.
I called it a GL based on how it was equipped, since the 95-97 equipped like this were typically GL's. Not that those letters really mean much.
I might go watch, since I don't have a service call untill 2PM. Just to see how you live your life. If it's a bargain and runs before I have to leave, I'll probably bid. Otherwise, I'll just watch the circus.
How long do you think it takes to run 95 cars? Worst case scenario, it's the last car.
Terry After the dust had settled, I paid 15k out the door. The salesman asked me if I play poker. I told him all of the time. He said I should start selling cars.
Thanks for all of your help, you guys are greatly appreciated.
It seems like the whole family is in the "car buying" mood, so now my other sis want's to trade hers.
It's a 2000 Ford Focus SE, 11,400 miles, black outside, grey cloth interior, in dash cd 6 player.?, auto, power windows, locks, cruise, tilt, power mirrors, every option except for a sunroof and leather, and she keeps in the garage and it has 20 coats of wax on it (I believe her) but it sure is clean and nice.
So she stopped off at the Subu dealer tonight and they were thinking around $7. So, before the weekend starts up, what say you? Hubby thinks $8,000.
I would like to buy a SUV, and I would like some advice as to what to buy. I have looked at the Envoy XL SLT, Tahoe, and the Yukon XL. Are any of these reputable? How about the Ford Expedition? Any suggestions are appreciated. (comfortable ride with little wind noise) I will also be trading in my 96 Saturn SL2 4 door. Power locks, keyless entry, air, ps, pb, cruise, am/fm cassette, new tires,it has 86,000mi what could I get for this as a trade in? Thanks for your help, Single Mom needing advice
I'm just trying to figure out what trade-in trade in value to expect. The car is a loaded JXi, white with white roof, with 110k on the odo.
The car was never garaged, so the exterior is just ok, but not terrible. The white roof is fairly gray. The car also took a hit last year and had a door and qp repainted to a high standard. No frame damage. Interior shows some wear on leather. Mechanically, the car is in good condition.
So, high miles, ok appearance, I'm in Chicago. I want to trade it to a BMW/MINI dealer. What can I reasonably expect?
This puppy has auto, black leather, moonroof, xenon, CD changer, prem. pkg., climate pkg., heated seats and steering wheel. No kids, no pets, no fries under seats, perfect. This car has 4150 miles on it in chicago area. Any ideas on trade in and private sale numbers. This is a third vehicle in family that rarely gets used. Thanks guys.
I think you might want to read some of the SUV specific threads to get insight into the the mentioned vehicles. They really are WORLDS away from your Saturn...
If you are looking to buy new all the domestics have improved their reliability, but with 4WD and much larger engines you would looking at much higher operating costs/maintence than your Saturn.
All of the SUVs you've listed are quite large, and offer seating for 7. If you just need space for passengers you may want to visit the threads that compare SUV to crossovers and/or vans.
... 95 vehicles ..huh. It will depend on how many lanes .. if it's just one lane, figure around 1 1/2 to 3 hrs depending on their set-up, drivers and auctioneers ..
..... All do respect to Rerenov8r .. but SUV's are a personal thing, some like em' big, some like mid size, everyone has an opinion (kinda like a bad date..l.o.l) ...
You have picked a great line-up .. but, you may prefer something different. Get your top 5/6, then go to a Dealer and drop your license and DRIVE, not demo the vehicles that you like .. take em' out for 1 or 2 hrs (without the salesman) .. drive on your streets, your hills, your Malls and you will find out a lot more than any one person can ever tell Ya ...
Triple Black, 5 speed, 36XXX miles. SF Bay Area. Dealer is asking 19,000. Seems steep. What do you think is fair? Additionally, what are your thoughts on the Volvo C70 Covertibles? Have a friend who's thinking of purchasing a 1 or 2 year old one, but is wondering why they have depreciated so much.
.... Triple black in San Fran, I will bet it is nice ..
$19,0 ..? I don't think so -- 36k, the miles are just ..ok. If it's a nice one, lookin' 02 and knee deep, then the Dealer probably has around $15ish and some change in it .. I would think, somewhere around the high $16's, low $17's or so should take it.
Volvo's are funny little critters (Great cars) .. but I feel that's a market they just can't quite conquer yet, there's nothing wrong with the vehicles, and once they hit a 2year old #, they seem just to hover over that number and really don't seem to depreciate much after that.
They are around $40+ new .. so a nice 2/3 year old one is a great buy.
....... Well what can I say ...? TONS of miles, it's not been well kept .. and the Chi-town dealers are already getting ready for the 4x4 season, even though it's 85 degrees++
JXI with the miles ...? probably around $2,5, maybe a tinge more, if you are lucky ...
Didn't buy anything, and wifey was glad to hear it.
The Contour got all the $$$ and then some, $5,850
About 2 hours, they moved fast.
Note to readers, don't buy any Mopar Cloud cars (Stratus, Breeze) 98-00 units with 30K to 100K went from $3K to $5K. Ouch, talk about drop in value. Of course these were all 4cyl/AT models with A/C and AM/FM. I think most had full power as well.
And as you may have read here before, you got all of 60 seconds in most cases to make a decision and bid, because they go fast.
Some 98 Crown Vic police models were No Saled by the GSA rep at around $4K. All under 50K miles, but I'm sure they were hard miles.
Trucks and SUVs were the big draw.
I'll post some more numbers as I wrote 'em down as the sale went on. I think I stayed for about 85 of the cars with about 7 to go after some were pulled for whatever reasons.
I do that about 4/6 times a month .. but, at auctions with 3/5/6,000 vehicles running through 15/19/23 lanes at a time ... no hearing aid needed here .. l.o.l...
...... Sounds like they have them priced real low .. that's a good thing.
Personally I like the Intrigues .. it's the right engine and the miles aren't bad for the year .. hey, have both checked out and purchase the one you like, the "price is right" ..l.o.l..
...... The miles are going to hurt Ya a little here ..
But, if it's a nice one, still is "showroom", no kisses, no paintwork, no little critters growing in the interior .. and no "Happy Meal" bags hanging from the mirrors .. then you should be in and around the $17's on a trade..
.... A Denali ..huh. ..? Personally, I like em' .. I drive those and the Escalades, Yukons, Burbs and such ..
See, I need something I can put some golf clubs and some drivers (people who drive the vehicles back ..l.o.l.) in for the auctions.
So yours is a 02 with 7k .. well if this puppy is like new inside and out .. I mean "jam up" perfect, then you should be in and around that $38ish figure on a trade. Right now, these vehicles are stronger than a F16 in a dog fight, if you decide to go down Retail Rd, try $44,9 and let the English teacher down the street take it home for $43ish -- the other figures you have, aren't going to help ya much.
With a proper "fat Daddy" add in local paper, I would try to kick it now .. and see what happens.
.... Well not my personal favorite .. but, this little darlin' has like, Nooooooo miles and all the nice toys.
If this little deal, is as super clean as you think it is, she has kept it 110% inside and out with the 20 coats of wax, then it must glow in the dark -- I agree with hubby at $8,0 and if it's a "baby doll", Ya know, stone cold puuuuurfect, then $8,2/$8,4 it may see ...
Repost from a few days ago; must have missed it in all the traffic.
What could I get (both trade and private sale) for this:
2000 Honda Accord EXV6 (Sedan) Color:Signet Silver (Grey/Dark Silver) Miles:15,500 Location:Orange County, CA (So Cal) All the usual EXV6 features. (Leather, power everything, Auto A/C, roof, alloys, CD, etc...) 10 mos. warranty left
Looks like an '02. One minor (barely visible) door ding, and one paint chip on the hood. (Bought the Honda full nose mask after that, and haven't got any more) I'll probably get the door ding fixed if I can do it cheap. I'm guessing I'd get more for it after all the '02's that are selling below invoice are gone and the '03's are out. (Which is what I want)
I was wondering what i would get for a 92 ford tempo with a 3.0 V6 with 84k miles. It is in good mechanical and exterior shape. there is only a few spots on the body where paint is fading.
..... Western PA ..huh. ..? Not far away from Butler ..?
These buggers are super popular .. and like Denali's, keep heep big "Wig Wam" values ..l.o.l.
BUT -- (V6 right ..?) .. $27 .....?
I don't think so ... aaahhh, no, no, no .. too much Jingle, what does this thing have.? the gold embroidered 18karat grille with the diamond bumpers ..?
Well anyway .. the miles are a little stiff for the year, but it has all the "right stuff" ... I gotta think the dealer fell down and hit his head, woke up and paid too much at $22 (since it's not perfect).
Then let the "Jesse James" Service dept slap him silly, with a $1,000 bill to change the oil and filter. Then his wife wanted a new Coach bag, so let's add $300 there, then his bookie stopped by and that was another Nick, then on a drunken stupor, he lost $300 on the way home.
Soooo, that put's us at $24,100 the most you should want to pay for this one is like .. $25,5 -- and I'm being generous with your money ..l.o.l...
My lease is ending for a 1999 Infiniti Q45 Touring. Titanium with beige leather interior, 36,000 miles, great condition inside and out and almost new tires. All options except Nav and CD Stacker. Car is in southern California. Residual is $25,700 - bank is down to $23,000 on a buy out. My guess is the car will bring them $20,000 at auction. Please give me your estimate of the car's value. Thank you.
It's the right color, just about anywhere .. including S Cal, my aunt lives in San Clemente, perhaps you guys are neighbors...
The miles are low for the year, es[ecially for S Cal. Soooo, if it's a Nice car, clean inside and out it will do $23 at Riverside or any other auction. Based on what you are saying, it's a nice one ...!

So, high miles, ok appearance, I'm in Chicago. I want to trade it to a BMW/MINI dealer. What can I reasonably expect?
If you are looking to buy new all the domestics have improved their reliability, but with 4WD and much larger engines you would looking at much higher operating costs/maintence than your Saturn.
All of the SUVs you've listed are quite large, and offer seating for 7. If you just need space for passengers you may want to visit the threads that compare SUV to crossovers and/or vans.
Good luck!
Terry.
Have fun and good luck ...
Terry.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks..
Terry.
A 98 with 34k is worth a lot more to a dealer, than 00 with 50k.
So enjoy ..!
Terry.
What ..? Is that junky Bimmer in the way of the Ferrari Modena Spider and the 02 Porsche 911GT2 ..? l.o.l...
Kick it out the door for the mid to high $39's on a trade.... Retail Rd., $44,9 in the paper $44 is what it would take.
Terry ;-))
JXI with the miles ...? probably around $2,5, maybe a tinge more, if you are lucky ...
Terry.
What a riot!
TB
Off to work now
I do that about 4/6 times a month .. but, at auctions with 3/5/6,000 vehicles running through 15/19/23 lanes at a time ... no hearing aid needed here .. l.o.l...
Yep, it did all the jingle ...
Terry.
Personally I like the Intrigues .. it's the right engine and the miles aren't bad for the year .. hey, have both checked out and purchase the one you like, the "price is right" ..l.o.l..
Terry.
But, if it's a nice one, still is "showroom", no kisses, no paintwork, no little critters growing in the interior .. and no "Happy Meal" bags hanging from the mirrors .. then you should be in and around the $17's on a trade..
Terry.
I hope this helps you out ...
Terry.
Hey let us know ...!
Terry.
What could I get (both trade and private sale) for this:
2000 Honda Accord EXV6 (Sedan)
Color:Signet Silver (Grey/Dark Silver)
Miles:15,500
Location:Orange County, CA (So Cal)
All the usual EXV6 features. (Leather, power everything, Auto A/C, roof, alloys, CD, etc...)
10 mos. warranty left
Thanks for the great service both of you provide!
Terry :-)
Thanks in advance
Could you please give the Trade in value for 8449 & 8453 ???
Thats my 98 Ford Explorer..
Terry.
