In case you missed this one.

    What's current retail/trade(in NJ) on a:

1997 Volvo S90 (last of the rear drivers)
69K on the clock (just barely broken in!)
    Black with Tan guts
fully loaded, no signs of paint or body work
Needs a new power antennae, no other apparent problems
    new brakes, good sneakers.
    No fry invasion present.

... I didn't forget ya, but thanks for reminding me .. I was messing with that stuff that Clp dropped off ..

But anyway, I bet it's black, yep it's black. I swear they musta made 70% of the S90's that way, but these are still nice vehicles and it's a good color for NJ ..

The dealer "maybe" has $8 or so in the vehicle, on the retail side, $9,900 is a good asking price ..

    I hope this helps ...

    Hi,

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLS 4x4 4 door with 30,000 miles. It has AC, power window/locks, automatic, privacy glass, side bars, 16 in tires, CD, roof rack. Could you give me a fair trade-in value? Thanks

.... These Landcruisers get stupid money even 10yrs old and with stiff miles ..

So lets say the service is 110%, it's been undercover, the paint is all there, the interior is 90% and it still stands like a 99 .. at the auctions, these will do $6,0++, so to the right buyer, $8,900 would be a good "asking" price .. and then you go from there.

I saw one about a month ago do over $6,0 with over 200k++, now it "looked" like it had 50k and I'm sure that particular one was pre-sold. l.o.l..

Where will a dealer hit me for a 2000 Limited Black and Tan V10 4WD, reverse sensing? Miles are 29K, all dealer service records. Recently waxed and looks good.

... What .? just need a couple of vehicles to hit the Steak and Shakes in ..huh.?

These puppies got to be new, I mean brand new, I mean IN THE Wrapper, these drivers have too glow in the dark to pull any jingle. A scratch here, and ding there is like saying goodbye to a ghee whiz here, and ghee whiz there .. if you get my drift. So lets assume they are ..

The Arnage should see "around" that $85ish zipcode on a trade, could even do a little more for the Left coasters, Texas and CA is a common/like area. But the black in Texas could be a $3/$4,000 slap .. (ouch!) and believe it not, the 24k is a little on the stiff side. On the retail side, maybe start out at $95ish and be ready to negotiate .. this not a big market.

Now the Rolls, is going to be around that $90ish area on trade, no miles and the right color for all of the southern folks, probably a great CA vehicle .. right now, it may hard to get $100 large for one now on the retail side, even with ultra low miles .. If all the big guns arent afraid to take a $500,000 hit on their yachts, then a $10 grand hit on a driver is chump change ..l.o.l..

Did you mean a CL or a SL double nickel ..?

    Terry.

They're asking $8950 for it. Drove it tonight and it seemed fine, but slow. Not sure if I can live with 13 mpg though.

Wondering what a mint, fully loaded 225 TT Roadster minus Cell w/ 26500 miles would go for at auction. Being offered 26500 in the NW on trade.Has 2yrs of warranty/included service..

Trade prices listed are around 27+ not including the baseball optic leather.. Wondering if this is fair..Thanks.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,171
missed it by $100 on Ebay.

'97 S90, 69K, went for $7,800, which would bring it to about $8,400 in the driveway, before tax. Includes shipping from Fla to NJ.

    Keeping it simple this time.

Basically they were 98-99 maxima's with 35-55k on the clock ranging from 11 to 13k. What are similar cars going for at the block. Looking for either SE or GLE's with that kinda mileage an typical equip. You are right on the money with remembering who I am. I am loving short sleeve weather in November. :)
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... Dooooh.! I hate when that happens.

Sometimes I take a "crew" with me to the auctions and I will be in one lane and they will be in another, but they have my figures on specified vehicles - but I always tell them "Never lose a vehicle for a hundred bucks". l.o.l.

It sounds like it was a good deal and the transport seemed cheap from FL .. oh well, there will be others ...

.... Wonderful description, thank you. No matter how it shows, it's still an 85 ..

So let's say it's as clean as possible for the year, runs like a top, deep in rubber, no rust and the service is 110% .. trade side, they "might" see $1,5/$2,0 -- take it down Retail Rd. for $3,900 and be very flexible and take that $2,5/$3,5 .. it's still a 85.

The miles save the Audi, but no cold pack and vinyl .? Hmmm, on a trade they will see $20/$21ish .. $23 would be fair for both .

    I hope this helps ...

.... High mileage could mean "experienced" .. but the high maintenance part, Naaah I will just get a KIA for that ..l.o.l..

..... This is an easy one, I'm driving one now .. it's a 02 with 8k, the sticker was still in the console, just shy of $40, I paid $27 .. there is about a $4 grand swing between the Pathy right now ..

They drive the same, feel the same .. the Q just has a little more popcorn, nicer leather, nicer stereo (I'm half deaf, so it makes no difference to me.l.o.l.) wood dash, two-tone, nicer wheels, junk like that .. Personally, I like an Escalade better, but that's just me, SUV's are all just personal taste .. Bretfraz pegged it.

    I found 2 S90s local:

Both are '98s with about 50K on them. One white, one Blue.

Blue is at the Volvo dealer, probably certified, don't know asking price

White one is at a Chrsyler dealer. Asking $17,995 (only about 40% over what it would likely pull on Ebay).

What would you peg these at real-world, assuming both are clean as the proverbial whistle?

Just wondering what the '01 and '02 MBZ SL500s are doing wholesale/retail? are they reclaiming some of their value back now the mkt hype over the '03s (excl. SL55s) has significantly lessened?

    TIA.
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... That's going to start depending on what part of the country they are in .. winter is starting to role around up north and dealers don't relish floor planning a vehicle that usually gets bought and used in the nicer months ..

But as of now, the 01's with 5/7k are getting around $51/$52ish .. and the 02's with 3/4k are doing around $57/$58ish at trade time. So the 02 can retail for $65,9+ and the 01 can retail for around $59+ ... and they better be cleaner than the board of health - and twice as sanitary.!

  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
..... Hi Gary .. now your saying a XLS, right .? not a XLT ..

The miles are gonna come back and slap ya silly here .. not knowing what part of the country you are from, you are gonna be seeing in and around the $16's on a trade .. and that's if it's super clean in and out, your saviour here is the 4x4 ..

Kinda remember, you are competing with the ones with 5/9/12k ..

    sorry ..

    Terry :-(

Hey Terry, i see a company called Naples Gulf Coast Motors w/ a few benzos on Ebay...know of them? reliable and trustworthy? shoot me off an email on this pls...
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
...... That Michael Jackson stuff, is waaaay too weird, it screwed up my post .. they need to put him in a Zoo.

    But anyway, it's a 00 with 29k, it's got the V10, it's a limited and a 4x4 .. and the miles are nice and low.

So unless you have tornado kisses or you were trying to drop your vehicle out a 2nd story window with it's car cover, or tried to have cosmetic surgery to it 412 times, and it still looks normal .. then on a trade, you should be in and around that $21/$22 range on a trade, as long as you don't wear 1 glove.

By the way, I was in Neodesha KS last year to look at some boats, are you familiar with Cobalt.?

..... These are EXCELLENT vehicles, they kinda keep the Porsche on their porches. l.o.l.

I would have to say at $26,500 .. you are getting ALL the money .. yours must be just puuurffect cuz', the miles are a little on the stiff side. On the East coast, TT's with half the miles can be had for about a ghee whiz less, so the dealer is working extra hard to earn your business.

I see on your profile your from WA, I know you left coasters do things a little different out there .. so, be happy and grab that deal.!

    Good luck ...

Thanks for the words Terry! I do love my TT and do hate to part ways with it but with a little one on the way, the toys must go...It has been a fun ride though. I'd keep her if I could..

    Terry,

Up here in the NE there seems to be many '02 GX's which are former rentals from FLA for sale. They have between 26-29K miles. They all seem to include the driver package (pwr seat, TCS, speakers).
What do you think is a reasonable price to pay? This is from used car dealers, I can't buy from auctions.

Terry, what could I expect to get on a trade or on a sale to an individual for this suv I've owned 5 yrs. 120 k, leather , f/r air , teal /over silver paint, no body work, cleaned up real sharp, 1/4 rubber remaining, c/d , roof rack, barn doors, alloys, mostly regular sub. goodies, but trying to give you the real picture.2 wheel drive.located in ga.....also other than a window sign or the local paper what are some effective ways to move it in a reasonably quick fashion.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,171
terry: The white one sold, but the local Volvo dealer still has:

    1998 S90, 54K, Nautic blue/tan guts, reported to be eat-offable. Believe it's certified.

Asking $17,459. How close to reality is that? I can't imagine it would do much over 10-11 across the block?

Local Acura dealer has a nice 2002 Nissan Maxima SE. Silverish grey in color, leather, slider, bose stereo, still smells new... 17K on the clock. They want $19,900. What do you think they have in it and what should I offer? Thanks in advance.
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,171
Terry: one last one since I got you on the clock.

    '92 Miata
    White, 83k, 5 speed, alloys (prob. a "B" package).

Good along around, but needs a new top (runs around 600-700 bucks).

Given the need for the top, what's fair on this one in wintery New Jersey?

.... It looks like it's going to be a little cold for the Ohio State/Michigan game ... So I'm sure it's going to be a little cold for all the converts up north ..

6 wks before Xmas, not too many dealers will want to hold them especially if they need to put some money in em', tuff sellers when it gets cold .. the miles aren't too bad, but it needs a new hat, might see $1,5/$2ish on a trade, might see $3ish on the retail end if it's clean and needs nothing but the hat .. great little vehicles, but they are like Vettes, every yankee drops them in the garage from October to April, lot's of lookers and few buyers, especially with it being a rwd. and snow is on the map for the next 3 months.

.... These are nice vehicles, lotsa of Bang for the Buck.

Right now, they are all pretty steady at that $17ish figure if they are clean .. so let's say they have service, detail, a little this, a little that, that brings it to $18 and they want $20, start em' up at $18,5 and $19 should bring it home ..

good luck and let me know ...

    ..... Both 96's.. right.? --

Oooh, 45k on a 96 .. these dudes are still super popular, besides that, these are nice vehicles .. on the private sale, he can see close to $8 on a trade, if he goes buy all the retail books it probably shows in the $12's .. the ultra high $9's, low $10's would be all the money, if it's a nice one with a good history .. low milers are hard to find.

The 3.2 TL, even with all the miles is probably owned for "around" the same money if it's a baby doll .. $9,9 is all the money on this bad boy ..

    I hope this helps ...

...... Let's go psycho here .. he was off a week with his bookie, so now he has $12 in the vehicle, let's say he's a month off his child support, now he has $13 in it, the little blondie at the office, well, aahh, err, he bought her a turkey - now he has $14 in it ... $17,900 ...?

Can't get there from here .. they can ask anything they want .. but $13ish would be ALL THE MONEY ..

We have a 2002 mercury villager popular with the 36,000mi. /36mo. warranty at it’s 10th month. Our question is, will it make a big difference if we trade-in before or after the warranty expires. I have heard that dealers prefer a trade-in that is still on warranty as they can sell it and offer an extended warranty to the next buyer. If this is true, how much of a difference in value would we be looking at and how much time before warranty expiration should we approach with trade-in? Thanks ahead for any time spent with this.

Hey terry, thanks for the advice on the diesel, I'll be advertising it next weekend. If you don't mind, could you tell me what you think of this one too: It's a 1999 a4 quattro, automatic, 1.8t, sport package, white exterior, tan interior, no accidents, all records, has 43,000 miles on it, no cold weather package. It's a private seller, she's asking 20000? What would a car like this do on trade . . . the owner seems pretty set on her price, although I haven't actually seen the car yet but I'd like to have a number that I should start her out at . . .thanks in advance once again . . .
  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
... Your welcome, my bill will be in the mail ..

The 99 is the right color, good options, it's a Quattro, auto, but the miles are on the strong side .. with all the service being done, new sneakers, no paintwork, looks and drives like 20k, it wouldn't see more than $14 on the trade side.

It gets back too what info books she's been reading ... $20 ..? Not when the dealers can buy the ultra cleans with 20/25k and All the options for $16, and then ask $19,900 and see $18,5 .. especially now with winter blowing in and dealers are trying to rid their inventories before Jan 1st.

She has some stiff competition going on here, $17 would be all the money, but she will find out come April, when she's still looking at that faded "For Sale" sign on her windshield .l.o.l...

..... These Burbs are another vehicle that gets stupid money with tall miles ...

It's a LT, tires sound weak, I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling from your description (at least your honest) ... let's just say it's just plain ol' average with lotsa miles, but runs Strong with no hick ups, no rust and everything works 99%, trade side you gotta be in for $5,0+ .. on the retail side, $8,900 in the paper and $7,9/$8,5 makes someone a new owner ..

  • rroyce10rroyce10 Member Posts: 9,332
    ..... I didn't read all your post .. sorry.

A real nice 5 liner ad in the biggest paper in your area will work the best ..

Have it detailed inside and out, have all the service records sitting on the front seat, drop the $3/$400 on the new rubber, any service have it done .. after reading this a second time and - if it comes out looking like a "baby doll", then $9,9 might be a be asking price with the new stuff .. $8,5/$9,500 takes it off the driveway .. real Burb buyers, especially "Bulldogs" aren't afraid of 120k if it's been "loved".

good luck and lets me know .. got it? get it.!

    Year
    make
    model
    mileage
    location
    Exterior color
    Interior color
    Interior material type
    transmission type
    body condition
    tire condition
    equipement listings

Might make your life easier. 8)
