I'm Dave Dykes and I have a 99 ML320 Elegance, Polar White/Java. As a new owner I've learned a lot about common problems from these boards. Also interested in accessories and upgrades for our great trucks!

We're off to the Wet Coast tomorrow morning. Lots of snow and mountains between here and there. Have a healthy happy and safe Holiday Season, I'll talk to you next year. BTW it is possible to get an ML stuck, if you get it high centred on a packed snow drift - don't ask me how I know... Dave

I've been warned on another list that some of the replacement sending units are less accurate than the one you have now, so it seems to be a crapshoot. The main annoyance for me is having the yellow light come on far too soon. I don't want to get in the habit of tuning it out, or at some point I'll run out of gas for sure.…

We got 8 or 10 inches of snow today driven by high winds = interesting driving conditions! A moron in a GMC half-ton slid all the way through an intersection (against the red light of course) across my path, giving me an unintended chance to sample ABS, ESP, (and XYZ I'm sure) - not to mention the ability of pucker power…

I had an interesting experience recently with my 99 ML320 which was in for an A service. At highway speeds (only) I had an intermittent rattle which sounded like it was coming from the dash - passenger side, but I couldn't isolate it. After a lot of trial and error the dealer was able to determine that the exterior vent…

I would love to do that BMW course some year. Your photos brought back a rush of memories as I spent hundreds of hours in the '80's teaching motorcycle safety courses on weekends at Boundary Bay for the BC Safety Council. That weathered concrete runway is an incredibly good traction surface, even when it's wet (as it often…

Dan: I'm just back from Mexico and getting caught up on the old posts. Congratulations on the new (to you) truck! You will enjoy it and it is a much better vehicle than the 98 you had looked at earlier. Dave

Dan: It was a first year car and came with more than its share of quality control problems. There are owners of 98's who have had very few problems, but these are in the minority. You could check the complete service history to get a better idea of this car's performance since new. Others have purchased extended warranties…

I bought the vehicle used in November from the dealer, and wanted to put some miles on it before starting to complain about problems. All of the discussion of FSU's on this and other lists gave me the back-up to make that case. The only other issue I'd like them to accept is the MY2000 door seals, but they have already…

I just picked up my 99 ML320 from the dealer after replacing the sending unit. Filled the tank, and for the first time saw the needle move to Full! I also had them look for a strange noise coming from underneath (suspension related I assume based on when I could hear it), and they lubed the torsion bars, which may have…

Great footage Drew, and it puts some of the squeaks and creaks we love to complain about into perspective when you see the ML's tremendous structural integrity. I used to teach novice motorcyclists, and when the subject came around to how much I thought they should spend on a helmet, my only questions was 'what do YOU…

It should - it does on mine.

My 99 ML320 runs the integrated (in-capsule) fogs, plus 2 PIAA Ion's mounted to the grille guard - all run off the stock switch with zero fuse problems. No more answers, but maybe some pattern will emerge from the confusion? Very sorry to hear about your problems Bonnie - others closer to you can probably give you some…
