Anyone here bought/buying a Trailblazer using the GM employee discounts? ...GMS/GMO price?
Here is one package I'm considering (on the dealer lot):
2002 Trailblazer LT 4WD
w/ running boards, locking diff, wol tires,
cd player + cassette, driver convenience pkg
Total MSRP is $32760. Invoice is $29721. GMS (GM in-stock) price is $28,676. The GMO (built-to-order) price for identical package is about $450 less (because of no dealer advertising costs, etc).
Here's my question:
If I'm not mistaken, a distant Chevrolet dealer told me over the phone that a dealer can lose its "license" if doesn't sell the vehicle for exactly that price--the GMS/GMO price.
Is that true?
Or can I negotiate some more taking into account the dealer holdback (about $1000 or so for this model)?
The reason is that according to those numbers above, the dealer "should" still be losing money because $28676 (GMO price) + $1000 (holdback) = $29676... which is still under the dealer's invoice price of $29721. So what other EXTRAS is the dealer getting from GM???????
thanks!
Scott.
P.S. Somebody please inform me what the "wholesale financial reserve/floorplan fee" is... and what the average amount for a $30,000 vehicle that amounts to for the dealer.
As far as dealers losing their license goes, I don't know anything about that, but I do know that they can decline to sell you a vehicle at GMO or GMS if they think they can sell their entire allotment at market prices.
Your best bet is to visit all area dealers and find the one who treats you the best and offers the most for your trade in, if you have one. Since you don't need to worry about price, your shopping experience will be less stressful.
I do recommend you wait for the trade in appraisal before telling them you get the employee discount, however.
good luck.

It's hardly noticeable, but some of my black paint has chipped away in the small groove where the plastic meets the metal .
I haven't had the dealer look at it, yet, but I worry that it will be an involved repair.
Anybody else's like this?
My passenger belt also does that. It has only been noticed when someone is using it and have used the brakes. Then it locks up and the person has to fully retract it. You want to know what my dealer said? "It's supposed to do that so that the belt locks the passenger in. It sounds like it works again after they "reset" it". Hello!!!! I doubt that GM wants people unbuckling their seatbelt while the car is moving in order to "reset" it.
My console squeaks very badly and hopefully when they repair it they won't cut a hole in my dash.
One thing I've realized is that GM mechanics (other than Cadillac) are idiots. They have no pride in their work and couldn't care less about the customer.
I'm taking my Bravada to my Cadillac dealer from now on!!!
According to Oldsmobile it will be an optional feature with "late availability". Who knows what that means but as of today you cannot order it as an option.
I hope they don't change the styling. I love the looks of these trucks.
-John.
Lyndellw: What have you done about yours? Am I seeing the metal or the gray primer where the paint is missing? Do you think it will rust?
If I could figure out a way to get that plastic piece off, I could make a thin rubber gasket to fit it.
And is this a good choice?
It seems a user went to change his oil and discovered the factory had installed a PF58 oil filter instead of the recommended PF59. Allegedly, the word from Chevy is that either one is acceptable, but the PF59 is preferred. Supposedly, the difference is an (anti?) drain-back valve on one but not the other.
Verify any substitutions with GM. Make sure you won't void your warranty.
You can find the PF58/59 thread by searching for "Trailblazer oil filter" on dejanews.com
Also, for those of you with passenger power lumbar adjustment, is your passenger lumbar button different from your driver lumbar button? My passenger seat lumbar button is MUCH larger than the driver's. Is this normal, too?
Wind noise is still bad, tried moving the roof racks bar's, no real difference.
Hinges in back seats still visible and painful.
I've had the Envoy now for 6 days with no problems. Very nice car.
And YES, my wife constantly complains about the passenger seatbelt locking to the point she has to release it while driving to reset the condition. This is a definite safety issue which will be reported to the NHTSA.
Besides this it is a great vehicle.
;-)
Seriously though, the Crazy Glue should work fine.
greebo...I did quite a bit of research on the Bravada and the TB before I bought. Don't remember any mention anywhere about the tire pressure monitoring feature the salesman mentioned to you. I know my LTZ doesn't have this feature, since I have already had a tire repaired.

Thanks, Troutfan
The reps that answer the phone had to check with someone else (who was only available daytime M-F) to get the info. I had to call them back later and the info was on their computer under my name.
Good luck

Trust me, after doing months and months of research I was disappointed in just how ignorant the salesmen are about the vehicles these days.
On one hand they usually do have more than one make they sell and some cars of the same manufacturer have features others don't.
On the other hand, if I, a layperson, knows what Oldsmobiles have what, the salesman should know.
In the end, It just goes to prove that as a consumer you must research, research, research before you make such a large purchase.
BTW, My Bravada is an Indigo Blue AWD. I love it and aside for the squeaks, rattles and the seatbelt problem, I'm happy and it gets looks like no other SUV I have owned.
In some cases, this ignorance becomes DANGEROUS, like the Jeep salesman that told me "ALL new cars come standard with anti-lock brakes." I ran from that dealership.
By the way, my TB salesman told me "This truck won't roll over, because it doesn't have a roll-over sticker on the visor." This illogical thinking was repeated at about 3 dealerships I walked into. Where do they get these guys?

WAAG and GO RHINO don't have anything listed yet on their sites, but you might call them and ask...
As far as my black 2WD Bravada is concerned, I love it (aside from the loose headliner and front facia)! In response to an earlier message, I have the Bose system and I too find it curious that either (i) the AUTO VOL defaults to OFF everytime the truck is started or (ii) it is the only button in the Bravada that changes mode when pressed once. The sound system sounds great otherwise...
While we slightly preferred the styling of the Envoy, we could not beat the value (lower price and 60K Major Guard) in the Bravada. I was disappointed, however, when I learned that Traction Control is a "late availability" feature on the 2WD Bravada. In addition, the Envoy's headlight washers did not carry over to the Bravada (probably due to the different headlight designs and the relative probability of a Bravada ever going offroad).
P.S. I've put 5 coat's of Zaino Bros. Z-2 car polish on my Indigo Blue Envoy and as I have said earlier this stuff is great on dark colors.Have no fear buying a dark color using this car polish.

I have a Indigo Blue LTZ, and I am having some weird readings on the Range for the gas mileage. The guage will float from 0 to 1/2 TANKFUL sometimes, depending on if I am going around a cloverleaf or braking. I have never seen this much fluctuation. Today I was driving and I was going around a cloverleaf, and the Range went from 32 miles to over 150! Then, as I accelerated, it gradually came back to about 50, then told me the range was low 2 miles later when I stopped. The tank reading was changing this whole time, and it is inconsistent.
Is anyone else seeing this problem, or do I have some weird defect? I know that guages on gas tanks read differently when cornering, but this is WAY more than I have ever seen before.
Also, has anyone seen any word on the availability of the brush guard from Chevy?
Thanks in advance.
brh
(sent fed-x) but they brought the vehicle back
I picked up my new one today. I don't know of anyone else who had this problem, hope it was just a fluke. The dealer (Pontiac-GMC of Mahwah
NJ) was great. after GM would not pay for a rental car any longer(they wanted me to use my old car until the new one came in) the dealer gave me one of his used cars to use, he didn't have to do this. The point being, don't give up!!
the process takes about a month to complete and you can't let up for a minute. Every state has some type of law. GM would rather give you a car them have you notify the state. anyone who lives in the ny/nj area and needs a envoy, this dealer is the best.(price and service.)
The dealer told me something like there might be a 1 in 50 chance that the price may go up a "few hundred dollars" between when the GMO order is placed and when it is delivered.
Can anyone share any similar experiences?
Should I get the price fixed in writing before I actually place the GMO order? Has anyone else been told this?
