    kyfdx,

wanted to make sure the #'s below are still valid for a 3 yr 36k lease on a Forester Limited (No Nav). Only options would be wheel locks and cargo cover.

    2014 Forester Limited non-NAV 36mo, 12K/yr lease
    .00110 MF and 60% residual

    Thank you,

    Hi kyfdx,

Trying to work a lease deal for Forester XT Premium or Touring. Last I saw MF was .0010 and Residual was 60%, but Albany, NY dealer today using .002992 MF. Any clarification would be immensely appreciated. Help...

    Thanks

    2014 Forester XT Premium 36mo, 15K/yr lease
    .00093 MF and 61% residual

Either that money factor is wrong, or they are using some other bank than Subaru Motors Finance, because that would be in excess of the mark-up allowed by SMF..

How about for 36mo, 12k/yr lease?

Does Touring have lower residual rates than Prem? Why?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188
For 12K/yr, add 1% to the residual.

Yes, Touring has lower residual percentages. Either because Subaru thinks that model will be worth a lower percentage of it's MSRP at lease end, or they think they need to subsidize one model more than another to make their sales targets.

In general, higher trim lines usually have lower percentage residuals, though that is not always the case.

    Hi kyfdx,

Thanks for your response. Think I'm making progress, but now also considering Forester XT Touring. Are MF and Residual on Touring also .00093 and 61%? Also, how do the numbers differ between 15K/yr lease and 12K?

    Thanks
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188
The money factor is the same.. .the residual is 4% less!

    12K/yr adds 1% over 15K/yr on a 36 month lease

Would appreciate current residual % and MF for Forester Premium w manual 6 speed - only adding cross rails and all weather mats. Negotiating 36 month at 12k, 15k and 18k miles per year. MF and residual for these 3 scenarios needed --Thanks

    For kyfdx:

A NY dealership indicated that they only finance through Chase bank and their residuals and money factors are set by the bank with no wiggle room. Is that accurate to your knowledge?

For a 2014 Forester Limited with Nav 10k/36 mos they quoted 60% residual and .00143 money factor.

What would these be through SMF?

    Thanks!

Have the mf and residuals changed for Dec. from my original post in Nov.?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188
    Chase is SMF..

The dealer is partially accurate (is that possible? lol).
The bank sets the residual, and the dealer cannot alter it.
The bank also sets the base money factor.. in many cases, they allow the dealer to mark up the base money factor for extra profit.
The maximum markup allowed on this lease by Chase/SMF is .00050, so I'll let you do the math, considering the numbers below.

    2014 Forester Limited w/NAV 36mo, 10K/yr lease
    .00093 MF and 60% residual

Can anyone recommend a dealer in South Florida that won't put me through all the BS? I've contacted a few via e-mail but no one wants to negotiate unless I come visit. I'm just looking for a decent lease on a Limited w Nav or even an XT Touring if the price is right. Thanks!

    Dear Kyfdx,

First and foremost, Happy Holidays! I'm working with a dealer and have gotten this far. please let me know what you think:

Model: 2014 Forester XT Touring - Satin White Pearl
    Luggage Compartment Cover
    Popular Package #2
    Sticker: $34643.00

    Sale Price $31,993

    • $120.00 estimated tag transfer + $60.00 Surcharge + $599.00 Documentary Fee + $49.00 Electronic Filing Fee + $6.50 Florida Tire & Battery + $595.00 Acquisition Fee
      MF - .00093
      Residual .59
Payment is $352.81 for 36 months at 12k miles per year.

Out of pocket to start $600

**The $600 down is first payment plus plates and has been rounded up a little. The county that was used for these numbers is Indian River County. You will have to tell us where you live and the county where you want to register this vehicle.

The $599 "Documentary Fee" - Is that the dealer fee? I'm sure I can have this knocked off if I try a little. How much do you think I can save by going with 10k miles per year?

    Thanks!

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188

Yes... the document fee is the dealer fee.. I can tell you are in Florida... lol

10K/yr adds 1% to the residual.. so, decreases the monthly payment by about $10/mo.

Hello everyone, expecting to lease a base Forester with the CVT. 36 month, 15K per year.
Money factor and residual at end of Feb? Does subaru use it's own finance company under their badge, or someone like Chase?
Also do lease terms with Subaru generally change depending on if it's sign and drive, 1st and fees, or some cap cost reduction?
    Thanks again, best wishes

.00093 MF and 60% residual. Those numbers are good through next Monday, March 3rd.

The leases are through Chase dba Subaru Motors Finance.

I don't know of any differences this month, regarding Sign/Drive or not..

Yes CVT, so I have a deal at $22,494 with otd at $24,369 (tag, title, doc, tax) and Residual at $14,764 on a 36 mo 12k mi lease. Payments are $277 w/tax and $1200 out of pocket. Does that add up?
    Thanks JP

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 235,188

Can't calculate a lease without the MSRP, plus need breakdown of the $1200 and your tax rate. Otherwise, it's just a semi-educated guess.
