Well you WANT a high residual on a lease, so that's good. Some dealers of some makes will jack around with the MF and some dealers of some makes won't.

We can usually tell you what the MF should be.

The Outback numbers are correct.

Forester Limited numbers are .00070 MF and 58% residual
Forester Premium numbers are .00090 MF and 60% residual

Looks like the dealer is marking up the money factor on the Foresters for extra profit.

If this is Ohio, the sales tax won't be that high on a lease. That is the straight purchase sales tax.

I agree with the residual calculation for extra miles over 15K/yr.

As mentioned, a higher residual results in a lower payment.

The dealer knows I am leaning towards the Outback (15/5) so I am guessing that's the best price they can give. Now I just have to decide...lease or buy. Hmmm. If you have any other ideas...well, I'm listening. And thanks for all you do. Saves many sleepless nights for us!

You never mentioned the actual lease payment that was quoted.
