Each can walk, ride a bike, or buy what each can afford or want to pay. And we are all entitled to free speech and thought. Yes, there are negative prius comments in hummer posts-provoked by the gestures and vandalism against hummers owners and their vehicles. Who started it and when - don't know - but think it should stop-there are bigger fish to fry. Hope you got your licks in - did that make you feel better.
What should GM do with Hummer. GM wants to sell the name? No takers? H2 is a limited production play toy. H3 isn't as tough as some believe. H3 isn't as bad as most believe. Still would buy one without rock crawling gears. [even though finally got around to putting on the billstines (any comments on the rear top mounting nuts?)]. Autoblog? eds say the little pick up is now dead (and the twins come in last - shutter Shreveport). Large pickups for grocery get'n are sitting on the lots.
Walk away from the H2. Put together a pow-wow with GM, Mahindra or Tata or ?, and the Hummer franchisees and just change the name on the building and switch out the inventory. Although it seems that if a restaurant fails, almost every thing that uses that building seems to fail.
We will find a body on frame with a modest towing capacity - don't need a one ton.
The grocery getter truck bed is about as useful as a sedan. The gm wagon that wasn't, suv cuv whatever, a wagon will beat a sedan everyday if the gearing doesn't need to be changed to offset a toy motor-g v w and all that-look at what your capacity really is.
You deserve it T_O_D.
from what I read hear, Hummer owners stand by their decision like loyal supporters of George Bush.
sorry if the analogy offends anyone.

Ford and Chevrolet have unique strengths and weaknesses while the only Cerberus products ever considered were a cummins diesel engine, and the jeep. Put the good points of all three together and build a few good products without plastic window regulators and plastic truck hubs.
Thought the financing guys would've had some creative ideas. GM had a costly learning lesson when Olds was killed, no buyers for Hummer, now selling Hummer again.
Had a crazy thought that Hummer should be sold to us, owners and other interested parties-complete or partial. Management, not only at the general, seems to be incompetent these days (good old boy network, frat brothers, hand shake societies, who knows).
Then there is the union is no good, lazy workers, etc. No it is not us it is them.
Now they want billions to stay alive. Why? The middle class has been destroyed and those that haven't may soon be. Let them fail. Buy Chinese or Vietnamese or Brazilian vehicles next year. have the malibu and the h3. You have to burn up what you didn't lease.
just thought i'd share
One post recently, if no hummer then back to jeep, if no jeep back to toyota.
Like the full time 4wd for better_half - no lever to pull. Would liked to have had a higher geared commuter h3 with 3.55 gears and lockers (wanglers, I believe have 3.21, 3.73, and of course the 4.10). Then have the real rock crawler version. Like sfa but didn't like mag article about unlimited's highway wander (alignment problem only?).
A little better highway performance with the ability to get out of trouble. Plus a tired old back doesn't have to crawl down into the sedan/wagon (as a new H3 owner in canada posted).
Not to use a scare tactic, but the roads are getting worse-where did we spend our treasury, billions to oil companies but not a dime more in road taxes to keep our highways from turning into toll roads (who's getting that money), and of course the drunks on the highway. Again, a couple just died in the metroplex when they were hit by a serial drunk driver in a tahoe? (he survived).

I walk to the Metro station, live two blocks from Whole Foods and drive my Prius only for grocery shopping and road trips.
I think it would have been better for them to form a convoy to Washington with all of their latest models including hybrids and electric vehicles. Think of the P.R. they would have gotten.

Arrogant indeed. They're claiming that their present troubles are solely to do with the current credit situation and have nothing to with the fact, as has been suggested, that they continue to design and build vehicles that the public has little interest in driving.
These people are as isolated from reality as the tobacco executives that each stood up and solemnly swore that smoking tobacco wasn't a known health hazard!
As was suggested, think what a huge amount of positive publicity could have been generated if they'd each driven to Washington in the most economical vehicle that their respective companies produced. Offering to take a cut in salary and bonuses would have helped too.
However, having an innovative business plan to show how the money could be used to good effect would have been more impressive still. Just turning up and expecting a sack of cash to take home is arrogance indeed!
With their luck, their convey would have broken down on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. :P
Lots of bailout talk is happening in the Do You Favor A Government Loan To The Detroit 3? discussion (well, it's happening all over, but especially so in there).

GM wanted $500 million. They are getting $150.
I interpret that as "GM valued it at $500 million...boy were they wrong!"
We love our H3 and our Rubicon but what if ...
I just read your post about Hummers ... I'm thinking about buying a Hummer here in Stuart, would use from time to time to pull a horse trailer with 1 horse, maybe 2 at times. Anyway, if you don't mind replying to my mail, I am asking several people for their opinions. I'd really appreciate your thoughts ... Thk you so much
The trailer weighs almost 4, 000 lbs, each horse weighs around 1, 300 lbs and the Hummer (2007 H2) weighs 8, 600 (gross vehicle weight).
What are your thoughts, think the Hummer could safely handle the weight ?
Thks again, trish
