When you state the grill, are you talking about the checkered plastic where the air enters? Or the plastic chrome piece with the bowtie?
How did you remove the bumper pad (I think the correct term is, Upper Front Bumper Cover). I looked at the bumper and it appears that this Upper Front Bumper Cover has plastic tabs that push through the metal bumper. I bet the bumper would bend first if I tried to pull the tabs through the bumper without releasing the plastic tabs. On my Blazer I had to remove the bumper to replace the rub strip that was mounted the same way.
How much did you pay for the Upper Front Bumper Cover? By the way, this truck was hit in a parking lot and I found it this way when I came back.
One good thing about the design is that the bumper was pushed back about 2 inches on the driver’s side but there was no damage to the fender or supports. It seems the bumper metal does not fill between the truck body and bumper so the bumper is able to move without damage to the rest of the truck. The Upper Front Bumper Cover hit the body and cracked, but that was the extent of the damage. I pulled the bumper back out with my Blazer.

Sounds like you have the 4.10 axle ratio. At 70 mph I'm at 1900 rpms, and I have the 3.73 axle ratio.
One way to tell is to look at all of them build codes in your glove box. If you find the code GT4 you have the 3.73. If you find the code GT5 you have the 4.10.
headlight assemblies.....They run around $300
bucks too.....OUCH ~!....That cheap plastic is
mucho expensive.......................geo
Usually shop on line- my impatience and desire for better sound made me buy retail. Also the worse half of my life was out of town so I bought and installed while she was gone. Sneaky but the cost of avoiding a confrontation is, at times more expensive, but worth it.
Obyone- Have you ever posted info on Horse Power tweaks??
If
hope this helps

To me, none of this sounds correct. I **think** that the original offending tire was not the cause of the problem, but an indicator of a problem. I think your front-wheel alignment was off. That is now showing up in your outside-cupping tire. This is just an opinion, though.
It is darker than it actually looks so far it is holding up great with the 90 degree summer heat and below zero winter nights
Try revving the engine a little to get 30-40 psi and turn off the key.

Good luck
radiator cap, or is the cap on the overflow tank
the only one?
blackmax200 - Thanks for your help! I got the chrome grille because they wanted more $$ for the painted one!
My DIC displays "Low Engine Oil Level" when the engine is started around 0 degress F. It stays on until the egnine warms up some. I have the V-6 and the oil level is about 1/3 from the add line. Has anyone else seen this?
I have a 2001 Sierra 1500 Z71. It only has 14,000 miles on it.
It just recently developed a 'knocking' that I can hear AND slightly feel through the steering wheel - but it only happens when I am turning to the RIGHT and applying the brakes at the same time - and it's much worse over rough pavement. It seems to be coming from the front end drivers side wheel.
it's like when the suspension is 'active' (i.e. over rough pavement) and I'm braking and turning right it happens. It's not normal as I just started noticing it on my drive to work everyday when I exit the same offramp. Never was a problem before.
Any ideas that I can tell the dealer when I bring it in to look for? The first dealer I brought it in to claimed they couldn't notice it. Even my wife who is car-phobic notices it now.
thanks,
-brian
Hope this helps

Counterclockwise to lower...........
Jack up the front of truck to take weight
off suspension...makes it easier to adjust.
A front end alignment is wise afterward too.
(now look what I have gone and done... now Oby is gonna post a pic of some beach in the 70's)

punch notched (pricked) and just turn them down

a dream boat on smooth pavement or loaded down.

As for noises the truck interior and dash sounds as if it is going to crack when going over bumps. It has been very cold, but this truck only hass 15k miles! I don't think GMs engineers can build a good car or truck anymore. Toyota is looking mighty fine these days to me. I would like to buy a Tahoe, but since it is the same interior quality I will not.
Have you had an alignment lately? I am getting one this spring so we will see
